Features to know about

Keep the Rear Level and Stable: 6,000-lb Hollow Rubber Springs

When you’re hauling a heavy load or towing a trailer, rear-end sag can throw off your steering and braking. The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System adds up to 6,000 lbs of support with its Aeon hollow rubber springs that sit above the rear axle. As weight increases, the spring’s progressive design stiffens to keep your ride level and controlled. That means steadier handling, better braking response, and a safer, more balanced feel on the road.

Absorb Bumps and Rough Roads: Rubber Springs That Cushion the Ride

Heavy loads can make every bump hit harder, but these rubber springs act like shock absorbers to take the brunt of rough terrain. They absorb most of the road shock so your truck feels smoother and more stable when loaded. The added cushioning also helps extend the life of your suspension by preventing bottoming out when things get bumpy.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

Each spring works independently from side to side, which helps when you’re cornering, swerving, or carrying an off-center load. This independent action cuts down on body roll and sway so the vehicle stays planted through turns or when a passing semi kicks up turbulence. You’ll feel the trailer follow in line with less rocking and quicker recovery from sway.

Simple Setup Without Air Lines or Adjustments: Bolt-On Installation

Unlike air springs that need hoses, compressors, or manual PSI adjustments, this system bolts into the factory bump stop location using vehicle-specific brackets and hardware—no drilling required. Once installed, it works automatically with your factory suspension to provide support only when needed. That makes it an easy, maintenance-free solution for everyday hauling or towing without extra equipment to manage.

Shipping was quick, Instructions were good and installation was easy. It's going to be another month before the Timbrens get tested but if they work as well as most reviews say I'll add another star. I hope so because etrailer had the lowest price I could find but they were still expensive

by:

I bought this product as recommended by etrailer and I am very satisfied with it. The product arrived as scheduled and it was fairly easy to install. The hardest part was removing the stock stop blocks. It is well designed and the fit was perfect. I pull a 10,000lb 5th wheel with an F250 and it gives me peace of mind knowing that these will provide the support I need as the load increases. Great product!

by:

Product arrived faster than expected. I didn’t need the spacer with 2” bolts on my 2003 f250 so I set them to the side to deal with the parts actually needed. Directions were fine although I would prefer the installation picture and fastener specifics on the same page to avoid always flipping page over. Drivers side was a breeze but passenger side had to be cut with a grinder before timbren install. I’m guessing 30-45 minutes for total job. They really take out the rear sag while loaded. Coupled with Bilstein 5100’s, the ride unloaded is fine with me as the shocks are pretty firm in their own right. Seems to be a great product so far and you can’t beat the price. Really enjoy doing business with etrailer!

I was back and forth between Timbren SES and airbags. Everyone in forums were very biased toward air bags and very opinionated on the Timbren SES. Yet I could find one instance in which someone tried the Timbrens, were dissatisfied and then switched to air bags. I called etrailer, Jamie recommended this product to me for my application. Installation on a 20-year-old truck had me nervous, I live in the Midwest and have a lot of salt. Installation was a breeze, and I have a B&W 5th Wheel Hitch (turnover gooseneck ball). This made the install a bit more challenging simply because I had a large bolt through the frame directly above my bump stop nut. If you do this install with the B&W Hitch, get a set of gear wrenches, or borrow a buddies 15mm and 9/16 wrenches. You need the 15mm to remove the factory nut and the 9/16 to install the Timbrens. I sprayed wd40 two nights in a row prior to installation to make sure I had good penetration of oil - I didn't break a bolt or a knuckle. I recommend installing the Timbren spring to the mounting plate, then install the mounting plate with Timbren to the truck. I didn’t need to remove my wheels or my spare, I jacked up the back under the hitch, used jack stands and let the weight of the axle separate the rear end from the truck giving ample room for the installation. After installation, I checked the clearance of the TImbren from the axle and had 1 inch of clearance. I installed my 1200-pound pickup camper and the springs just started touching the axle. I have a 21-foot fiberglass boat and seen about a 1/4-inch drop after I connected it to my truck. These things work and best part is – no maintenance and no danger of shifting weight if an airbag lost pressure or was punctured/damaged. I hunt with this vehicle and drive through thick brush and timber, I feel airbags wouldn’t hold up with the abuse I put my truck through. The Timbren SES system took the squat out of my truck and made the drop from the connection of my heavy boat hardly noticeable. Thank you etrailer, great experience as usual!

by:

Watch the YouTube video for your truck first. Super easy to install! My gooseneck trailer hooked up doesn't even touch my 2001 Ford F250 factory auxiliary springs with the Timbren installed. I have not gone on an extended road trip yet with these springs

by:

Product looks amazing, can’t wait to get a load on the pickup. Shipping was a little slower than it said when I purchased but not a big deal.

by:

Product was a Timbren suspension enhancement set. The product installed easily and raised the flatbed of my F 250 about two inches.
The truck is a service truck with way too much weight on it. While installing the kit, I discovered that the truck appears to have a sprung frame. I may have to repurpose the vehicle, but will leave this kit on the truck. On a test drive, the truck handles better and is more stable than it was previously. The product is a good addition to my truck. From order to receipt of product was only about 5 days. That was quick enough for me. Thank you for the service.

by:

Outstanding accessory,I’ve had them put on every truck I’ve owned.
Currently installed on my 1999 f250 super duty..love them.they do everything they say they will do..

by:

This was a great addition to our 2000 f250 super duty pickup. I had looked at airbag systems also. The timbres system looked like it would better suit our needs on this truck. Easy and quick install. Takes the toll out of the truck when pulling the gooseneck horse trailer or the livestock trailer. No air lines or mount issues to deal with during installation ( i.e. gooseneck hitch can be issues with air bag mounts). My wife uses this truck and I did not want her to be a long way from home and have to find parts and r shop to work on an airbag system, Timbren solved that. I would positively recommend them depending on the situation

by:

The "Timbren's" was one of the best things I did to the F-350 SWR to improve the ride and handling while pulling a 3 horse goose-neck horse trailer with living quarters. Follow the instruction and they are easy to install in a short time. I liked them so much that I put them on my F-250 also.

After a year it was still the best improvement I have made to the trucks. The Timbren Vehicle Suspension is something I should have installed long from the beginning. The ride is a little more stiff when empty, but thats not why the system was purchased for. Saved me from buying a $500 air bag system. I would recommend this product to anyone who hauls heavy loads.

by:

These are fantastic if you're only occasionally hauling heavier loads. The difference towing or hauling a truck full of firewood is amazing. My rear springs are pretty beat up (88 F250) and these really help with that lean that would be inevitable when loading up with anything more than a bag of cement.

That being said because my rear springs are pretty shot, so I don't have the recommended space between these and my axle. Instead of feeling every bump in the road, now I feel it 2 or 3 times each. Even with new shocks, you feel the hard hit when the axle hits them, then when the body rebounds and lands on them again. Just something to consider, these aren't a cheap fix for bad springs.

Your last sentence says it all. this product is meant to be used on vehicles with suspensions that are in good repair.

by:

Great product

by:

Took the rear end sag out of a ½ ton pickup with a popup camper in the back. The ride was tight but not harsh. It also took most of the sway out of cornering.
I suggest installing the rubber spring on the mounting plate first before attaching the mounting plate to the vehicle frame. There is precious little room to tighten the mounting nut if you attempt to install the spring after the mounting plate is bolted on.

It makes all the difference. Still happy!

by:

Was extremely worried as the box arrived torn open and held together with a rubberband. Despite that, all the parts were fortunately there and all was in good repair. Nothing got lost or damaged. Because of this I will go ahead and give 5 stars.

by:

Fit amazing, easy to install, look good…. And ride is amazing!

by:

Product is GREAT - 2004 Ford F250 bolts were too short when using the lock washer FYI. ONE CAVEAT - Etrailer shipped the product in the original product box which was busted open upon arrival and missing a spacer. Sent pics to customer service and they shipped out an extra spring which wasn't what was missing. Finally got the missing spacer upon the 3rd shipment. So I spent a lot of time on the phone, emailing pictures and sending back the incorrect item which was extremely discouraging for what we paid. Next time we might purchase direct from the vendor and avoid the hassle.

by:

99 F-250 pulling a 4700lb gooseneck, and 7000lb tractor, used spacers that were included. It pulls so much better loaded, and unloaded feels factory. no harshness at all. Great product

by:

Awesome shipping time! Ordered them on Monday night and got them by Thursday mid morning!

by:

I have a 2002 F250 with a 4in. lift. Added this based on another friend of mines experience with them. He has a 2012 3/4 ton dodge and with these it doesn't squat his 5th wheel hardly at all. I'm actually picking up my 5th wheel today. So we'll see how they do. As far as install, it was a breeze. From start to finish, including clean up, right at an hour!!! With the 4in lift I had to use the spacer, which put the springs right where they needed to be. I will update in the next couple day once I see how the do with a load. But shipping was excellent. Had em overnighted and that's exactly what I got. Would definitely recommend yall to all my buddies.

by:

Super easy install.

by:

Easy installation, can’t wait for our first trip to see how they work, should give the additional support I wanted.

Excellent product. I run a farm and after installing them in my F250 I now have them on every truck in the fleet. I would not pull with my F250 before I installed the Timbren suspension system, now I tow 14000 pounds with confidence.

Still thrilled with my purchase. Cant say enough good things about them.

by:

I put between 50 and 70 thousand miles on my truck every year hauling trailers. After hauling a 32ft trailer from Colorado across Wyoming (with the everpresent cross winds) to Northern California - I saw considerable wear on my new tires. I purchased and installed the Timbren suspension system and made the same trip a week later with another (heavier) trailer. My tires looked like they hadn't worn at all! and the handling was greatly improved - no more sag or sway. Timbren makes a great product that installs easily and performs just like they promise.

Im still driving my slightly modified Ford F250 HD Powerstroke - your Timbren suspension anti-sway bags have been a life saver on my tires! The truck rides level and smooth without sway, even in high winds with my cargo trailers. Handling under heavy loads is also vastly improved. Now if I could only swap the front suspension stops with more Timbren bags the damned factory bumpers are riveted in place!

Package arrived all torn up and missing most of the hardware. I contacted main company and they said the dealer should have shipped in a cardboard box along with the box the product was in. Main company was super helpful and responsive. Product seems very sturdy and quality. Recommend dealer do a better job packaging for shipping . I’m giving the shipping a two star. I think product is a great product as far as quality and functionality

  • Will Air Bags Work on a 4WD 1993 Ford F-250 w/ a Gooseneck Hitch?
Hey Patrick! Thanks for the pictures and all the information! I checked with Air Lift and their LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs item # AL57298 are only compatible with the Reese gooseneck hitch because of how the brackets install on the frame. They're vertical brackets instead of the horizontal ones the Curt Gooseneck Hitch item # C60723-5W has. Our website wasn't as clear on this as it should've been on in bed hitches. Hello Adam, thanks for reaching out. I have heard of people using Timbrens in conjunction with sway bars. I have not heard of the two interfering with each other. I have heard of the Timbrens making the ride more stiff in certain situations. They do a great job of adding support when you are loaded down, but they can make the ride more stiff when you are unloaded since they may not be making constant contact with the axle. • Recommended Airless Suspension Enhancement System for 2003 Ford F-250
There are a few different options for an airless suspension enhancement system for your 2003 Ford F-250. The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-114-54 referenced in your question is a great option. The sturdy springs will cushion bumps and help support a heavy load to level your truck. They have a 2,800 pound weight capacity and offer progressive load control, which means that the springs will compress according to the weight of your cargo. I also recommend looking...

  • Comparison of Timbren's Versus SumoSprings for a 2001 Ford F-250
For your 2001 Ford F-250 I recommend using the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TFR250SDE instead of the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-114-54 because the Timbren springs are rated up to 6,000 lbs whereas the SumoSprings are only rated up to 2,800 lbs. Therefore, the Timbren springs are going to do a much better job of handling the added weight of your 5th wheel trailer. In addition to leveling support, these springs will also improve handling and reduce...

  • Better Ride on Rough Roads for a 1997 Ford F-250HD
I am sure there are some tires that you could use but the tires that we carry would not work since they are designed for trailer use only. Another possible solution is to change the suspension or add suspension enhancement. Using Timbren springs, # TFR150SDE for 2-wheel drive or # TFR250SDE for 4-wheel drive, will lessen the travel in the stock suspension and take the bite out of bumps and pot holes. I have linked videos showing installations of each.
