Will Air Bags Work on a 4WD 1993 Ford F-250 w/ a Gooseneck Hitch?

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 04/10/2025

Question:

I have a 1993 Ford F250 4 x 4 with the 7.5 L engine. I need an airbag system to work with the Curt 60723 gooseneck hitch assembly. As you will see in the picture for clarification, this hitch has brackets that run down the outside of the frame.

Hey Patrick! Thanks for the pictures and all the information! I checked with Air Lift and their LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs item # AL57298 are only compatible with the Reese gooseneck hitch because of how the brackets install on the frame. They're vertical brackets instead of the horizontal ones the Curt Gooseneck Hitch item # C60723-5W has. Our website wasn't as clear on this as it should've been on in bed hitches.

Every other air bag kit installs in the exact same place like the Firestone item # F2071 that I have attached a picture of below.

The only comparable option I have for you is the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System item # TFR250SDE. These install in place of your F-250's bump stops and will address any sagging issues you're experiencing while towing your gooseneck trailer.

If you have any additional questions feel free to throw them into the comment box below. Sorry for any confusion.

Hey Patrick, how did things turn out with the Timbren suspension setup on your F-250? Did it help with the sagging when towing your gooseneck trailer? Your update could make it easier for others working with the same Curt hitch.
