Video Transcript for Review of RV Designer Gas Struts - Gas Strut 26 In. 75 LBS - RD39MR

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this RV Designer gas strut. Now this lift support is designed to replace a worn out or weak gas strut on heavier lids that no longer stay open on their own. This is going to give you 75 pounds of lifting force, making this easier and safer to open and hold up storage compartment lids, access panels, or other heavy covers. Now, one of the biggest benefits is the added safety, so instead of worrying about the lid suddenly dropping while you're reaching into a storage compartment, this strut is going to help keep it securely open until you're ready to close it. Now, this strut measures from center of socket to center of socket, right at 26 inches on that extended length.

So, this is going to be a direct replacement for systems that are designed to use that size. It's a compact design, relatively speaking, so it's going to fit into those tighter spaces or those concealed mounting locations where space is going to be limited. The black finish is gonna give it a clean, low-profile appearance. It's going to look good, whether the strut is visible or hidden after installation. But keep in mind that the mounting brackets are sold separately, so if you're replacing an existing strut and your current brackets are still in good condition, you're going to be able to typically reuse them.

However, if your installation requires new hardware, you will have to purchase that compatible mounting hardware separately. Obviously, as you saw, this is going to be a ball stud, ball socket installation. But I think that's going to wrap up our look today. Again, my name's Andy. Thank you for joining me.

Thanks to Emily at E trailer. She was a huge help to get us the right part that we needed. I highly recommend her. She had plenty of patience with us and went the extra mile. The struts worked perfect holding our mattress up. I highly recommend it to anyone.

This worked perfectly. Took a little work to install, but it solved my problem lifting the queen bed in my Forest River Wolf Pup 16BHS camper trailer.

Perfect fit luxe just as good or better than original equipment. I forgot how the doors closed with such forcewhen the original struts were new. Much more positive feel now no more gust of wind slamming my doors closed. Thank you E Trailer.

We replaced the gas struts on the rv king size bed that came with our 5th wheel with these because after we upgraded the mattress the original ones couldn't support the weight. These are working much better and support the weight of the bed when lifted up with no problemo. They were very easy to swap out from the original ones also.

  • Once The Gas Strut RD39MR Is Open, How Do We Make It Come Back Down ?
Hey Dave, Once the gas strut # RD39MR is fully extended, you just pull the lid back down by hand. The gas strut will compress as the lid closes. It will take some pressure since the strut is rated for 75 lbs of force, but if it feels excessively hard to close, the strut may be too strong for the lid. If you are trying to install it with it extended, then usually if you are using the correct size strut, you should have room to clip the top and bottom in and then close it. What is the...
