Question:

I own a 2024 Toyota Tundra Crewmax w/out air suspension, but have towing package that includes trailer brake control. I was looking to help stiffen the back end and not sure about the Timbren SES kit vs the SumoSprings. Looking at a travel trailer that will have GVWR around 7500lbs and hitch weight at 635lbs. My tow capacity will be close to max after I get a weight distribution hitch w/sway control so trying to figure out what to be prepared for if I purchase a RV. Any recommendations for what I asked or do you have other things that would work better? The truck is my everyday vehicle and I would probably be camping every other weekend w/possible trip or two cross country.

Hello David, thanks for reaching out. Between the TImbrens and the SumoSprings for your 2024 Toyota Tundra I definitely recommend the Sumos. They have a progressive spring rate so you don't get as rough of a ride when you are unloaded. Since your hitch weight will be about 635 lbs, I recommend the blue Sumos part # SS46PV which are the 1,400 lb capacity. This will give you that nice middle ground between suspension support and ride quality. They are super easy to add on too.

Just keep in mind these are designed for trucks with stock suspension and will not work if you have a lift.

Jesse, Thanks for your advice. Now I need to find an RV dealer with that in stock so I can get an idea of how soon to order the springs.

Jesse, Does your recommendation change if I up my hitch weight to 700 lbs and travel trailer GVWR to 8500 lbs?

@DaveM The 1,400 lb capacity should still be sufficient for 700 lbs. If you get up over 800-1,000 lbs you might want to bump up the capacity. For really any Tundra the 1,400 lb should be plenty.

Jesse, Sorry, one more set of questions.... If I don't purchase an RV this year, would it still be beneficial to purchase the same blue set (or another if your recommendation changes based on my other questions) to use with hauling a utility trailer with my side by side? That total weight is roughly 3,200 lbs and 15' long.

@DaveM I would stick with the Blue Sumos for that too. Those should cover pretty much any load you could haul with your Tundra unless you are absolutely maxing out the tow capacity.
