A heavy trailer or full bed can make your rear end sag and throw off handling. These SumoSprings helper springs add up to 2,800 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level and steady. They help your factory suspension handle the extra weight so braking, steering, and headlight aim stay predictable even when you’re towing or hauling a serious load.
Whether you’re hauling heavy or running light, the springs adjust to what you’re carrying. With lighter loads they compress easily for a softer, smoother ride. As the weight increases, they firm up—compressing by as much as 80 percent—to keep things level and under control. You get the right balance between comfort when empty and stability when loaded.
Uneven cargo or sharp corners don’t have to mean body roll or sway. Each SumoSpring works on its own side to keep the vehicle balanced through turns and crosswinds. That independent action also helps even out off-center loads so the ride feels planted whether you’re pulling a trailer or heading down a curvy road.
These microcellular urethane springs take on real-world abuse without quitting. They resist damage from oils, road salts, and UV rays and perform in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F. Minimal side expansion means they fit tight spaces without rubbing nearby parts. And because they’re maintenance-free with no tubing or air pressure to monitor, once installed you can just drive and let them do their job.
Installation is simple with no drilling required. The kit comes with two jounce-style springs, spacers, and mounting hardware so you can bolt them on using standard tools and get right back to hauling with confidence.

Hi, everyone, Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for your rear axle. Now folks, these are a custom fit application, so I wanna make sure you're double checking our fit guide here at etrailer.com. Be sure you're get in the right parts the first time by entering your year, make, and model where it says my vehicle, and any other questions that ask you. I wanna also make you aware that sometimes these videos could be outdated, it could potentially fit newer vehicles than what's listed. Now, getting into it, helper springs are going to upgrade your vehicle's rear suspension for improved driver control and comfort.
So what they can do is keep your vehicle level when you're towing or hauling a heavy load, they help absorb bumps and shocks. They minimize that back and forth sway, and they are what's called a progressive load control mechanism, meaning these springs compress according to the weight of your cargo. So let's say you had a light load, maybe it compresses a little bit, just gives you a soft engagement so to speak, and like a less bumpy ride. But then when you have a heavier load, it's gonna give you a compression of as much as all the way down to 80% to give you that support you need. Now these also work independently side to side.
So if you have an off center load, maybe a camper in the back of the truck or a bunch of concrete or dirt or something on one side, it's gonna compensate for that by compressing individually, and it's gonna help reduce body roll during sharp turns. Now these are made of a nice durable microcellular urethane material. They're workable in ranges from negative 25 Fahrenheit all the way up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. They will resist damage caused by oil, road salt, and UV rays. Now they give you mineral lateral expansion, meaning they compress vertically instead of the sides.
So you're not gonna easily damage these when operating these in the tight spaces under the vehicle. Now these are maintenance free. There's no tubing to run like with the air bags and those kind of things. There's no monitor put inside the cab of the truck. It's a simple one-time installation, no drilling required.
You're gonna get the spacer blocks that are already in there. I kind of pre-installed these. There's a bolt on each top here that goes straight down and it's that simple. And then from there, it's just follow the instructions to get which one's the driver versus the passenger and those kind of things. Now the weight capacity of these at 50% compression is rated at 2,800 pounds capacity. Now one last thing before we go, folks. Just remember these kind of springs and even airbags, they'd never increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. What they do is they are helping hold that load back to your ride height from your stock ride height. So what I tell people to do, and in our install videos, our installers tell people, before you install these, take a measurement maybe with your camper, you know, hooked up in the bed of your truck or on the tail, you know, the bumper of the truck or whatnot. Get a ride high from the ground to the underside of your fender. And then check that once you've installed these and see the difference. And I think you might be impressed with how much it brings you back up to stock height, and that's really what you're going for with these kind of products. Well, that's gonna wrap it up. I'm Steven, thanks for watching. As always, please stay safe while you're towing.

Definitely less moving parts to worry about than airbags :) The install looks great! Are you hitched up in the photo to test out the springs or were you actually on your way to the water?

Thanks for your feedback Chris, this is valuable insight for future shoppers! Good to hear they're getting the job done as like you wanted. It's always nice when you don't have to spend the first few minutes at your campsite, picking up everything off the floor of your camper. Any upcoming adventures planned?
