Question:

Good Evening, Im looking to get Sumo Springs for my 2025 Tundra 1794 hybrid w/ 4x4. Im having a hard timing picking between the blue and black ones. Can you please help me decide? My current trailer has a GVWR of 6844. I have setup my WDH and have about 2.5inch of rear sag when its loaded. A little more than Im wanting. Im more of a weekend warrior and I dont tow daily. But I also dont want to get the blue and short change myself during towing to have a better ride when unhitched. Also, I noticed that the sumo springs website rates their Blue at 1000lb and their Black at 1500lb. eTrailer has the Blue at 1400lb and Black at 1800lb. Any information would be greatly appreciated.Thank you for your time! Have a great week!

Hey Tommy, you would choose the blue SumoSprings # SS46PV for lighter loads, daily driving, and a softer ride, ideal for occasional towing. While black SumoSprings # SS66PV are better for heavier trucks, frequent towing, and consistent loads, offering more support but a slightly stiffer unloaded feel.

Blue is softer and compresses easier, is good for comfort... black is firmer, needs more weight to compress, and provides higher load capacity for work or heavy campers, balancing comfort and support a little more evenly.

If you're already using a WDH system and you are getting 2.5 inches of sag still I would recommend the black kit.

I have a 2025 1794 towing a 6800lb Airstream using an Equalizer WDH. I chose the 1800lb (black) Sumo Springs, sometimes I am a little heavy with my cargo in the bed & these cushion the hard road bumps better than the OE bump stops. I’m very pleased with the performance. Hope this helps!

I installed a set of black on my 2023 Tundra limited. My RV weighs in around 4800 lbs dry & then I throw in a couple hundred more lbs in the RV and the same in the bed. I get very little sag when towing. I would estimate it to be about 1 inch. Did it change the ride when not towing? Yeah, it did make the ride it a little more rigid, when maneuvering over bumps & road irregularities, but on smooth pavement, it's fine.

I put the black ones on and really haven't noticed any significant difference in daily ride. They really do help with camper towing and keeping truck level. Also improves truck/ trailer interaction on gravel and uneven backcountry roads. So, either will work. It seems to depend on camper weight and towing needs. We are in Colorafo so doing a lot of mountain hauling.
