When hauling cargo or towing adds weight to the rear, factory coils can compress and cause sag. The Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs #CSS-1195R fit between the coils of your existing rear suspension to give extra support and keep your ride level without changing the unloaded height. Each insert uses a microcellular polyurethane foam inner core that cushions the suspension and becomes stiffer as weight increases. The result is a smoother, more stable ride that helps your suspension hold up under load without bottoming out.
Factory coil springs can feel harsh when fully compressed under heavy loads. These helper springs add a progressive cushion that tightens as weight builds, reducing harsh impacts and driver fatigue on long drives. The added support also cuts down on rear-end bounce so you stay more comfortable even when the road gets rough.
Extra load in the back can make a vehicle lean through turns or sway in crosswinds. By reinforcing the rear coils, these helper springs help reduce body roll and keep handling consistent. The suspension stays firmer when needed, giving you a planted feeling through curves, uneven surfaces, or when braking with weight on board.
Unlike air systems that need compressors or constant pressure checks, these polyurethane inserts install once and require no maintenance. They simply wedge between each coil rung using their H-shaped channels to stay locked in place. With no hoses or fittings to worry about, you get dependable suspension support every time you load up.
The microcellular polyurethane material resists abrasion, oil, road salt, and UV damage while handling extreme temperatures without breaking down. Each kit includes two coil spring inserts designed for rear coil suspensions that are already in good working order. I installed a hitch on my Subaru Outback. These were a great addition. It added an additional 2" lift. You need to follow the directions exactly. When it says to use soap to help squeeze it in between the coils use it liberally. It takes strong hands, but once you start it's easy to wrap into the coil of the rear suspension. Great product.
2026 Subaru Outback Touring XT. The Sumo Springs installation was completed without issue. They effectively mitigate the trailer's 200 lbs. tongue weight, resulting in less than 1 inch of suspension sag. No adverse effects on handling or ride comfort have been observed. The only installation discrepancy noted involved the overlap. While most instructional videos demonstrate zero overlap, I confirmed with the manufacturer, SuperSprings, that up to 1 inch of overlap is acceptable. They ultimately advised that the units can be trimmed to preference for a customized fit and gave no definitive answer. I personally set my overlap to 1/2".
I'm not sure if this picture does it justice, but the before pictire with the boat covered, there is noticeable sag in the rear. Dealt woth that for a year. Installed the coil sumosprings helper yesterday and she's level now.
Tip, when installing on an older vehicle with rusted springs, take some extra time to sand the springs until the feel smooth. Do that and the dish soap and they go on pretty easy.
Works well. But I had to go to my mecanical shop to install. Impossible to install by myself.
Definitely an improvement in comfort while driving
These were purchased for work vans and so far have worked great, the van sits level now and the tires are wearing even.
Item worked as advertised. It helps to Not bottom out with heavy load in trunk of car.
The package arrived the next day! My husband was pleased with the product. He install the pieces yesterday. He seemed happy with the product. The boat trailer now rides in a better position.
Very easy install 15 min or so. Raised my hitch 1 1/4 inch without weight. 2013 quest, maybe It will handle a million kids and all the gear better.
Overall I feel the product helped stiffen the ride, but under full load I feel they could do more to reduce squat.
extremely fast delivery. Product installation instructions didn't quite work but the company was excellent when called for help with installation.
I thought I would try these because the price is right compared to installing automatic airbags. Unfortunately there is absolutely no difference in sag when towing my boat.
After installing SumoSpring helpers, it increased my Cart Carrier approximately 1 3/4 inches in height. They also increased my ride stability. I would recommend this product. I am 100% satisfied!
Our 2010 toyota sienna def doesn't sag as much with our full load of 2 parents, 5 teens, and our luggage. No more scraping of our attached hitch on the driveway apron. Since they have progressive resistance, the ride is still comfortable when not under load, but well-supported when loaded.
Install was a damn wrestling match - def NOT as easy as the video.
Ultimately I'm glad I chose these over the airbags bc now that they're in, they are maintenance free. One note, the version I got did not have holes for zip ties like a preview video had. I'm not concerned about that though bc of the tight fit, there's no way they're falling out.
2011 Highlander with factory tow package and hitch towing a Casita 17' Liberty Deluxe. Just completed a Three week 5700mi. trip from Florida to Salt Lake City, Utah returning via Big Bend, TX.
Shipping was quick and items well packed.
Installation was very easy an took less than an hour start to finish. Wheel removal, not required. Just jacking up enough to unload the suspension. I did use a few more zip ties than were supplied for good measure.
Ride quality was unchanged with no trailer.
Rear sag was reduced slightly with trailer hitched but not to the extent I would expect. I still get cars flashing their high beams, with me on low beams.
Porpoising was reduced and is probably the single biggest advantage to having these installed.
These ere OK but I hope something more effective will soon enter the market.
I have a 2008 Sienna that I pull a pop-up camper with. However, the Sienna sits really low in the back as is. With a trailer attached, the receiver would practically drag on the ground. After researching several different solutions, many of which being really expensive options (lift kits, etc.), I landed on the Coil SumoSprings. While advertised for performance, I read that they provide a bit of lift and prevent the springs from bottoming out. Installation was a bit tricky due to not owning a lift, but with the wheels and tires off (and an excessive amount of soapy water), They slid into place. The van sits almost 2 inches higher in the back. With the van fully loaded, a roof bag full on top, and the camper attached, the rear sits right about where it did without the springs when it was empty. These things are amazing! However, they were only about $60 when I purchased them last year. The price is much higher now, but still less than the other options I researched. I am super happy with the solution!
Easy to install on 2020 Mercedes Metris Cargo Van if you remove tire, clean spring and use soapy water to lubricate coil. Reduced "squat" about 3/4" for ~325 Lb. trailer tongue weight without weight distribution hitch.
