The Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack gives you a solid base for hauling all kinds of gear. It comes as a complete system with 2 crossbars, 4 Evo Clamp feet, and a custom fit kit for your naked roof. Made from aluminum, the black bars measure 53" long x 3-1/8" wide x 1" tall and can handle up to 165 lbs—just remember to stay within your vehicle’s maximum roof load capacity. The setup feels sturdy and dependable whether you’re carrying watercraft, luggage, or outdoor gear.
Long highway drives can get loud when your roof rack catches the wind. These aero-style crossbars are shaped to reduce drag and vibration while you’re driving. The top channels have split rubber strips that close around your accessory mounts, helping to cut down on whistling and vibration. The result is a quieter ride that lets you focus on the trip instead of the noise above you.
Some racks require trimming rubber strips before you can slide accessories into place, but not these. The split strip design in the top channels means you can easily slide in your channel-mount accessories without cutting anything to fit. The strips close back around the mounts when installed, helping seal against wind and weather while keeping everything neat and easy to work with.
No matter what kind of trip you’re planning, this rack is ready for it. It works with most bike, watersport, snow, and cargo carriers—whether they attach through the top channels or clamp around the bars. That means you can load up kayaks in summer, skis in winter, or a cargo box for a long road trip without needing separate setups or new gear.
You can pair this rack with Thule One-Key System locks (sold separately) to secure both the rack and your channel-mounted accessories. It’s an easy way to keep your setup protected when parked at campgrounds or trailheads overnight, giving you peace of mind while you explore.

Hello, neighbor, this is Curt with etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Thule WingBar Evo, and we're gonna see how it fits and how it installs on our 2025 Toyota Corolla. Now, a roof rack is an excellent way to be able to carry that extra cargo that you either don't want with you inside the vehicle, or it simply won't fit. You'll have things like roof boxes, bike racks, kayak carriers, ski and snowboard carriers, baskets, all of which you can use to carry that extra cargo to and from your destination. Now, the WingBar Evo is an arrow style bar, meaning it's got a little bit of a elliptical shape. It's gonna be wider in the front with a blade shape in the back. And what that's gonna do is help vibration and road noise and just give you an overall quieter ride with these on there, much more so than a square or a round bar.
They are 53 inch bars that you can use with either a clamp-mounted accessory or the end cap will pop up and you can mount T-track accessories as well up here through this weather stripping. Now, this roof rack is gonna offer a 165 pound carrying capacity. However, you always want to double check your owner's manual and see what the vehicle roof carrying capacity is. Whichever of those numbers is lower, that is going to be your maximum weight. It's also an overhanging crossbar.
So unlike a flush set of bars where the bar will dead end into the tower and kind of force you to mount things toward the middle, an overhang bar gives us a lot more bar space. And depending on the weight, we could have the opportunity to load things up more side by side with each other. The downside to it though, is that this is a very low roof, being a sedan, so anything overhanging is gonna be sticking out. Now, it doesn't stick out wider than the car itself, but if you're reaching into a window, you might want to be aware of that. Also getting in and out of the vehicle, while for the most part, when people get out of the car, they're going out and up, I'm not really feeling like I'm gonna hit my head on this or anything, but you do want to end up keeping it in mind.
Now on the Corolla, we do have a bit of a fixed mounting point, so we're not free to kinda move the bars front and back or closer or further apart as we would want. So let's take a look and see exactly where these end up. So we're gonna take a measurement of our crossbar spread, which is gonna be center of one T-track to the center of the other, and we're right at 28 1/2 inches. Now that's an important number to know because every rooftop accessory is gonna have a minimum and maximum crossbar spread that you can use it with. 28 1/2 puts us right in a window where most rooftop accessories are gonna fit on here just fine.
The other thing we're gonna take a look at is how much room do we have underneath our bar Underneath our bar, we're sitting at 2 1/2 inches, so plenty of room to get those clamp-mounted accessories around. And also, if we're putting anything up on top of here, we're also gonna end up clearing this antenna in the back easily as well. And the last thing we want to take a look at is our height. How much height is this adding to the vehicle And it's gonna add approximately four inches to the top of your vehicle. So if you're worried about vehicle height with your accessories mounted up on here, however tall your accessories are with the vehicle height, add that four inches, you'll get your overall vehicle height. Now, installation of these is actually really, really simple. You really don't need a tape measure or any other tools other than the one that Thule provides. So stick around, we'll show you exactly how we got these on the roof of our Corolla. The first thing that you want to do when it comes to the install is just make sure you've got all your parts laid out to where they should go. So we're gonna be putting together the rear bar. We have the front bar already installed. So if you look at your instructions, it'll tell you exactly what clamp number and pad number you need depending on the side of the vehicle and which bar you're on. So since we're doing the second bar on the driver's side, it calls for pad number 668, and that'll be stamped on your foot pad right there in the bottom corner. And it calls for our passenger side to be number 669. Now these are side-specific, and very specific on where they want 'em placed because they are contoured to fit the roof, giving us a level surface to put items up on our crossbars. The rear bar is also gonna call for pad, sorry, clamp number 390, which you'll see stamped at the top right here. So the first thing I want to do is take my wing bar and I'm going to turn it over on its back just like this. I'm gonna go ahead and remove the end cap and I'm going to take my tower. Now before I put it on the bar, I want to get it all put together. So the first thing I'll do is take my pad, number 668, this is the correct pad for the driver side. And I'm just going to push this down until it's securely on the bottom of the tower. And once that's in place, I'm gonna take my clamp, and I'm gonna go ahead and snap it in just like so. Now while we're here, I want to give you a visual here. On our clamps, we've got this tab here. Now when we get it over to the vehicle, on the Corolla, there is a space for this tab to go into, and that's what's gonna tell us where our crossbars need to go. So next thing we do is take our tower, and with the clamp side facing outward on the bar, we're gonna go ahead and line up these tabs to go right through here like a T-slot. So we're just gonna work those on and slide it right on to there. Now in your instructions on the second bar, it's going to give you a measurement. And for the back bar, the measurement is 29.5, and that measurement has to do with how far apart our towers are. So, under each wing bar, there is a scale right here. It might be a little difficult to read these numbers, but that is gonna be our indicator on where this needs to go. So at 29 1/2, we're gonna line it up to that line there, and we'll be doing the same thing on the other side. So I'm going to just keep it in place and I'm gonna slide my tower over, make sure I keep it where I need it. And once that's in place, I'm gonna be able to replace my end cap, and we're gonna repeat this process for the passenger side. Now inside the door seam here in both the first and second row, we're gonna find this little space here, a little hole. Now there might be a rubber plug in it that you'd want to take out, but that little tab that was on our clamp that I showed you earlier, that is where it's going to go. So you don't really have to measure your crossbar spread. On the Corolla here, it's gonna tell you exactly where we need to place that crossbar. Now with the wider portion of the bar facing front and the blade part of the bar facing the rear, we're gonna go ahead and feed it right over our vehicle. We're just gonna be careful on the other side of our clamp there, just kinda make sure it gets around where it needs to go. Once you've gone back and forth enough and it starts to feel really tight, you're eventually going to get a pop out of your tool, (tool popping) just like that. This is a torquing tool, so that is gonna let you know that we have this tightened down according to the Thule standards, and we're gonna go ahead and give it the old shake test here, make sure nothing's moving around or anything. This is on here really, really solid. So once everything's set, the only thing you have left to do is put on your tower covers. Now, before I do that, I just want to point out here that when you purchase this Thule roof rack out of the box, you're gonna end up with a plastic lock core like this. However, through Thule's One-Key System, you can get lock cores for all four of your towers, have them all key to like, and get 'em key to like to your other Thule accessories. But for now, we're gonna use this with our flathead, and all we'll need to do is put the tabs in up at the top. It'll clip down into place. I'll go ahead and lock it, and that'll secure our towers. So that's a look at the installation of the Thule WingBar Evo on our 2025 Toyota Corolla. Now, if after watching this video you've still got some questions, or you've gone ahead and purchased the WingBar Evo and you've got some experiences to share, go ahead and leave those in the comments below. We'd love to share your story with other neighbors so they can make the best decision for themselves. Once again, this is Curt with etrailer. Thanks for stopping by.

Excellent product from Sweden. Well made, perfect fit, great directions, easy to install. Amazingly strong, secure installation on 2013 Honda Accord. Exceptionally strong and secure fit for a gutter-mounted roof rack! Only small unavoidable issue is that the gutter clamp pushed the Honda door rubber seal strip outward slightly, but likely not enough to cause rain to leak around top of door seal.
Great product. Successfully assembled and installed it myself in about 3 hours. A more detailed assembly video would be helpful. Other than that; I'm 100% satisfied!
Easy install great product
2018 GMC Sierra duramax
etrailer fantastic customer service!
Thanks Lori B!
I think Thule products are painfully pricey......however the rack I put on my Ram 2500 is flawless and a absolute perfect fit. I added the Thule rack for the roof of the truck. I have a truck bed utility custom rack and it wasnt enough. I carry a 16' heavy canoe and a 12' kayak so the additional crossbars make for a very sturdy and dependable way to carry since we also tow a trailer. Very happy to have it.
Customer Service at etrailer is par none, both before the sale and after. I had an unpleasant experience elsewhere buying and installing a roof rack for my old Prius. After a few days of frustrations, I sent it back to that old online store.
This time, I contacted etrailer to see what ALL I needed to install a rack on my new 2018 Honda CRV. They sent me the part numbers and a link to purchase. Viola! After they arrived, I had difficulty with one of the parts (at 69 yo my hands are not too strong or flexible) and contacted etrailer. They sent pictures and more thorough instructions on installing the rubber strip. Another VIOLA!
I'm so very happy with my total experience at etrailer. Customer Service, truly, is not better any where else I have made online or brick-n-mortar purchases.
The package was shipped in its OEM box with no additional protection. As such the Thule Aero wing cross bars were both dented on one side. Not sure if I received a return or if the product was dented in shipping as there was a significant amount of packing tape on the dented side. Either way, the end caps wouldn’t fit into the dented cross bars until I cut away plastic from the end caps. For $XXX+ dollars you think that would buy more shipping protection. Unbelievable, really.
Website is easy to use & is better at putting together the correct package than Thule’s site.
etrailer had all the parts in stock for my 2020 Kia Telluride.
Payment process was simple.
Received periodic updates from staffer on my order & could actually reply if needed.
Installing the roof rack went well. Estimate start to finish was about 2 hours. Found it best to really examine each diagram in Thule’s step by step instructions to get it all right on the first try.
Hardness part of the installation was getting the crossbars installed at the proper distances. A tailor’s soft measuring tape & some masking were great aids.
Superb quality. Of course, it is from Thule and they are expensive for sure. But, you really get what you pay for!
And, just consider how expensive it would be if using something more affordable (cheap generic brand) and the racks/bars take off from the roof with the box on the highway!
These will not take off, super sturdy and fits the car perfectly.
Just be sure to get the right kit.
And follow the paper instructions coming along the parts.
Can recommend these, were for Nissan Leaf 2021.
And not to forget the etrailer company, they did their part as well with flying colors. All parts arrived in time and were correct!
I've owned this roof rack for a year now, and it has served my purposes (carrying my kayak around on my truck) quite well. It was fairly easy to assemble, largely because the entire instruction guide was in pictures.
I have had to retighten the rack a couple of times since putting it on the roof, so I tie the kayak down to the front and back of the truck as well as to the roof rack. I suspect the ocean kayak puts a bit of lift on the roof rack resulting in the loosening.
So far its the best roof rack you can get today! Had no issues when driving through rugged and bumpy terrains all day.
The bars are strong and fairly quiet, especially considering that I mount them on the main cab of my pickup truck and not on top of the canopy. My biggest concern is that the rubber strip that runs the length of the bar to reduce wind noise was badly damaged when I slid my canoe up on to the bars. Given the weight of the canoe, I'm accustomed to getting one end on a bar and sliding it back into position. Given the sensitivity of the rubber, is started pulling away from the bar and shredding when sliding the gunwales over the top of the bar. I'll try to be more careful, but a roof rack needs to be more utilitarian in my humble opinion.
I bought the Thule Evo Roof Rack to transport my kayak on my Lexus 300H. Thule will advise you on their website that his particular rack is not right for a Lexus 300H (i.e., they don't make a roof rack for a Lexus 300H); it is really for a Camry, but etrailer told me that is worked, I trusted them and they were correct. After all, a Lexus sedan is really a fancy Camry, but Thule will not acknowledge this point. It works great. Thule makes a solid product.
I had to warranty the bars because the rubber strips that seal the attachment channel would not stay attached.
Blew off on the highway. Poor design.
Thule warranty is awesome, They sent me 2 new sets. Still wouldnt attach securely.
Thule sent me a new set of bars.
I already bought some square bars.
I dont even want to use the wing bars. I want aerodynamic profile not the rubber strips.
These bars are light weight and easy to set up. However, the measurements in the directions were not right to fit them to my vehicle, and they were really difficult to adjust once the bars were on the roof. They seem to be snug on the roof and working well, I did a test drive yesterday at varying speeds and they are secure. They don't cause any unpleasant noise - you'd forget they were on there.
It is great. I love appearance of the Thule roof rack that I install today.
Same great design and quality of Thule bars, but this one was missing one of the four end caps. Fortunately, I have extras from other bars, but it could have been a real problem. Also, no instructions with the bars. You apparently have to buy all the attachment pieces with it to get instructions?
Items arrived later than expected despite cancelling an month long order due to waiting stock on a different set up that was in stock. Once it arrived the box was all torn up and the person that delivered it just dropped it in the garage with the boxes spilling out of the bigger box. Love Thule products, etailer and the shipping supplier not so much,
Overall solid product. The little rubber strips that fit into the top bar are relatively fragile, I installed them, pulled one out to trim about 1/8 inches of excess length and the strip deformed such that it never went back in correctly. Fortunately etrailer had replacement strips.
Reliable and durable
Great quality products! Easy installation with properly guided instructions. One of the best tracking information, from ordering to delivery. Would strongly recommend etrailer to anyone looking for roof or hitch bike racks.
Thule is an excellent product and the fit on my 2017 Chevrolet Colorado is perfect. The good people at etrailer were super helpful in getting the correct fit parts to me as quickly as possible, especially during a tough year for all. I’ve found my Thule racks to be the perfect tool to take our kayaks on our adventures!
I’ve been searching for a set of crossbars for my 2021 Crosstrek. After looking at several different companys,, I decided to go with etrailer.com and get the Thule Wingbar Evo Crossbars and Evo Raised feet. Ordering was quick and shipping was even faster! Installed them in about an hour with no issues. I love the way they look, and the construction is solid. Shout out to the staff for doing a great job and for the great communication from placing the order, confirmation, updates and shipping the order. You will not be disappointed!
I've always trusted Thule bars. I have an old Xsporter on my truck that works really well and it has held up over time. I needed to get a Thule rack for my Jeep Grand Cherokee and found that etrailer had all the parts I needed specified for my model. That was one of my favorite things about the site. No need to search around for the different parts to attached onto the factory rails. Once I received the rack and components, it was really easy to install. I pretty much watched the etrailer videos before hand.
I have the older Hullavator 897XT to haul my kayak in. With the WingBar Evo, I found I needed to get a slightly longer bolt (6-1.00 x 30), which I got from the local Ace hardware store, to attached the Hullavator support bracket to the WingBar. Once I got those bolts set up, I was on the water with the kayak the next day.
Talked to the customer service a few times and they are great friendly people. And I can understand what they are saying.
53” Thule bars fit our 2021 RAV4 Hybrid! Most people appear to be using 47” bars for the 2021 RAV4 with flush roof rails, but that’s smaller than I wanted. I sometimes carry a sheet of plywood, or a kayak plus a cargo box, and wanted a wider rack for that. I had heard that upsizing to the 53” bar was potentially not possible because the mounting slots on the bottom of the bar may not accommodate the rail locations relative to the bar length. ETrailer helped me out with some dimensions, so I bought the 53” bar knowing it would be close. There is only about a quarter inch of play on either side on the rear bar, but it fit (the front bar had more play, since the towers are a bit further apart at the front).
I’m SO happy with the result! Now I can carry what I want on the rack, and have room to spare! It looks pretty good too!
Absolutely worth every penny! The quality is exactly what you’d expect from Thule—solid, well built, and incredibly secure. Installation on my 2025 Toyota Corolla LE was straightforward, and everything fit perfectly. Once installed, the rack feels rock solid with no rattling or movement.
I’m using it to transport my kayak, and it gives me a lot of confidence knowing my gear is safely secured. It also looks great on the car and doesn’t take away from its appearance at all.
If you’re looking for a roof rack that’s durable, reliable, and easy to install, I highly recommend this one!
