Features:

  • Heavy-duty ratchet strap easily secures your motorcycle or ATV during trailering
  • Extra-long, steel S-hooks lock around 1" tubing on your motorcycle or ATV
    • Attach to handlebars or cargo racks
    • Vinyl coating protects your cargo and trailer from scuffs and scratches
    • Built-in keepers ensure that the hooks stay connected to the anchor
  • Rubber coating on ratchet handle provides a good grip
  • Zinc-coated steel ratchet resists wear and corrosion
  • Sturdy, red polyester webbing provides long-lasting performance

Specs:

  • Strap dimensions: 1" wide x 6' long
  • Maximum load strength (break strength): 1,200 lbs
  • Safe working load limit (WLL): 400 lbs
  • Quantity: 2 tie-down straps
  • 90-Day limited warranty

Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

These Erickson tie-downs feature a standard ratchet strap with an extra-long hook that is designed to easily grab 1" diameter tubing that is typically found on motorcycles and ATVs. Simply hook one end of the strap to your trailer's tie-down point and hook the other end over your motorcycle's or ATV's handlebar or cargo rack. Ratchet the strap until it's tight and you're ready to hit the road.

Video Transcript for Erickson Ratcheting Motorcycle Tie-Down Staps Review

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Erickson Ratcheting Motorcycle Style Tie-Down Strap with the extra-long hook, part no. is EM05710. These are all for a 6-foot length strap, a 400-pound working load limit, a 1,200-pound brake load limit. This heavy-duty ratchet straps are made to secure your motorcycle, ATV or anything else that might have a round protective cage on it. The extra long hooks are going to lock around even up to a full 1-inch diameter tube, making it very easy even for the larger frame bikes. Of course, they're vinyl coated. That's going to protect your cargo and trailer from any scuffs or anything like that, and the built-in keepers are going to make sure it stays where we want it. The ratchet handle has a rubber coating on it.

It's going to provide us good grip, and the zinc-coated steel is going to resist any kind of wear and corrosion, so it's going to give us plenty of good use. They use a sturdy, red, polyester webbing. It's going to provide long-lasting performance as well. Now let's go ahead and take a look at how we're going to secure items in our trailer. I got a generator here. We're going take our S-hook with our ratchet strap, put it right around that tube.

As you can see, it goes around nicely. That keeper is going to keep it in place for us. Our other S-hook, we'll put on our other attachment point. We'll now bring our tag in, place it right through the middle slot in our ratchet. Allow that to go right back through the back side there, as you can see. Now we're just going to pull our slack.

Once we have it tight, ratchet it on down. We'll now just tidy up our excess here, so we can get it from flapping around. Now we can move right on to the other side and get it taken care of as well. Just like on the first side there, we'll connect our hooks in first. We're going to strap through our ratchet, pull our slack out and tighten it on down. That's really all it takes to get our gear nice and secure and ready to head down the road.

These straps really work great for attaching to any round tubing, ATVs, UTVs or frame tubes it might be attached to. That will complete today's look at the Erickson Ratcheting Motorcycle Tide-Down Straps, part no. EM05710. .

Well yes, those work well, though need lubrication of the mechanism a lot. Ties down electric motorcycle in partially enclosed trailer for winter RV travel. I may have to order those again in a few weeks after I prep the equipment for this years trip.

E Trailer had product specifications for ratchet ties that cannot be found in Harbor Freight or in Home Depot. Latching hooks that can't flop off the eyebolt, and quality ratchet easy to use. 163782

Comments
The straps work well, but are difficult to hook under the bike chassis when astride. So I use two friction straps to hook it while I get off, then from the ground I walk around the trailer to affix the two safety hook Erick sons at the front, and two at the rear. Works fine as long as I remember to reverse the sequence of disconnecting before climbing in the trailer and onto the bike.

The lenght from the ratchet to the ratchet hook is nice and short. Most others I've tried there so long there's no room to tighten them down as the ratchet will be to close to your triple tree. Works great with soft ties! 84606

The perfect tie-down for motorcycles. The safety hook insures that the strap will stay hooked even if it should become a little loose or the motorcycle bounces slightly. The deep hook fits a 1" handlebar perfectly. 76392

On the Rage PowerSport Steel Motorcycle Carrier MX600 it seems this was a design flaw and the carrier has been discontinued. • What Capacity of Strap Should be Used to Secure a Motorcycle That Weighs 850 lbs
The load capacity that you will want to take into consideration when choosing a strap is the safe working load limit of the strap. The Erickson Ratcheting Motorcycle Tie-Down Straps, # EM05710, has a working load limit of 400 lbs each. For your situation I would recommend the Erickson Ratcheting Tie-Down Straps, # EM31352. This includes four straps that have a safe working load limit of 500 lbs each. Keep in mind that if you have to wrap the strap around an edge of the trailer, then...

These are ratchet strap style tie downs that would have more than enough capacity. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

Each strap in set # EM05710 is rated for a safe working load limit of 400 pounds with a 1,200 pound break strength. Using 4 of them means that combined they could secure up to a 1,600 pound object so 4 would be more than enough for a 620 pound motorcycle.

  • Hitch Scooter Carrier for 2018 Honda PCX 150 Scooter for Use on Class B Motorhome
Any accessory that is to be mounted on the back of an RV - either a motorhome like your Class B or on a trailer or camper - has to be made and rated specifically for that type of use. The reason is that the greater distance between the axle and hitch on such vehicles means more leverage (and more stress) will be applied to that accessory item. On passenger cars the axle-to-hitch distance is much shorter, just a few feet, and this of course puts less stress on the items. You also want...

  • Hitch Flex and Use of Support Straps When Hitch Bike Rack is Installed
Trailer hitches have to be able to flex to avoid damage. The metals used in fabrication of a hitch like Draw-Tite # 36540 and Curt # C12107 are selected to allow for this. The mounting brackets on a hitch are not of the same metal formulation as the cross tube. A totally rigid hitch would be more likely to suffer damage. Some flex is okay. Excess motion of a hitch-mounted accessory such as a bike rack is something else. This is why Curt requires use of their stabilizing strap # 18050...

Hitch adapters can sometimes be handy for a quick-fix, but since your 2016 Mazda CX-3 can only accept a light-duty 1-1/4-inch hitch I really cannot recommend using any type of hitch adapter. Here's why. Any type of adapter, such as the Brophy # HT5R, will cost you half of your hitch's rated capacity. So a 200-lb-rated Class I hitch like my recommended Draw-Tite # 24933 will have only a 100-lb capacity if used with the Brophy adapter. The reason for this loss of hitch capacity is that...
