Durable tie-down straps pair quick-release action with a retractable design for easy loading and unloading. Any unused strap automatically retracts into the housing, and you can quickly release each strap by pushing a button. 1,200 lbs Max load.

Features:

  • Tie-downs let you secure cargo in your truck bed or trailer
  • Retractable straps automatically wind up into the built-in housings with the push of a button
    • Keeps excess strap from tangling or flapping in the wind
  • Ratchet mechanisms make it easy to tighten down straps and maintain tension on straps
    • Handles are easy to grip
  • Push buttons on ratchets quickly and easily release straps when you're ready to unload
  • Zinc-coated steel bodies are corrosion resistant
  • S-hooks have hardened steel cores to ensure that they won't bend or flex
  • Vinyl coating on S-hooks helps prevent scratches on your cargo

Specs:

  • Strap dimensions: 1" wide x 10' long
  • Safe working load limit (WLL): 400 lbs
  • Maximum load (break strength): 1,200 lbs
  • Quantity: 2 ratchet straps
  • 90-Day limited warranty

Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Video Transcript for Erickson Ratchet Straps - Retractable Strap - EM34415 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Erickson Retractable Ratchet Straps. The tie downs let you secure cargo in your truck bed or trailer. I do want to point out that one of the neat features about the unit is that it can be permanently mounted. It's got a hole down here at the bottom of the base so you can permanently mount it to a trailer, or in your truck bed, or whatever application you're using tie downs for. Hardware to do that is not included though, but the hole diameter there is a half inch. Now, the retractable straps automatically wind up into the built-in housing with the push of this button right here. I'm going to go ahead and extend this out a little bit more, and if I just push that button, it takes up all the slack.

That way, you don't have any excess strap to tie off or secure, and it keeps the strap neatly stowed when the tie downs aren't in use. It's a really nice, easy to use design, and the retractable feature is pretty convenient as well. Now, when you have your hooks connected to your anchor points and you're ready to take out the slack of the strap, all you've got to do is use the ratcheting handle right here. It's a really nice, easy motion. It's very easy to control. It's got the easy grip design right here, and then when you're done tightening, you just push it down into that position, and it will remain in that position. When you're ready to loosen up the tension and remove the strap so you can unload your gear, all you have to do is push in on this button, take the mechanism down one notch, and then now you're going to have slack in your strap.

You can pull that, and you can easily release the tension. That way, you can get your gear off your truck bed or off your trailer. The hooks are steel, and are vinyl coated, so that's going to help prevent scratches to your cargo. The diameter of the hook, including the vinyl, is around 3/8 of an inch. This opening right here measures 7/8 of an inch. The mechanism for the ratcheting design, or ratcheting area, that's a corrosion resistant steel body so you don't have to worry about rust or corrosion.

The strap itself is made from seatbelt-like material, so it's very strong and durable, and the straps measure one inch wide by ten feet long. They feature a safe working load limit of 400 pounds. Maximum load or break strength is 1200 pounds, and that's per ratchet strap. You're going to get two, so both of these are included.I also want to go over the overall measurements with you of the actual body. The overall length of the body just measuring that base portion is 4 1/4 width.

That's going to give us a measurement of about 1 5/8 of an inch wide, and the overall height as if you have it mounted on a flat surface, that's going to measure around 2 5/8 of an inch tall. Now please keep in mind that tie downs must be chosen according to their safe working load limit, so the weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps being used. That's going to do it for today's look at the Erickson Retractable Ratchet Straps.

I am Dr. Richard Pendleton, retired Professor of Mechanical Engineering. My primary field was mechanical design. I recently purchased some of the Erickson re-tractable ratcheting trailer tie-downs. I am very favorably impressed. Commonly products descriptions inflate the value of the product. The web advertisement of these tie-downs did not do that. If anything the ad was an understatement. The video was very helpful and accurate. I am more than pleased with this product. Feel free to use my name and statements as you wish. 179960

Ordered these straps as a gift and was told after ordering that they were not available. Finally they were shipped and then lost in shipment. After missing the opportunity to give them as a gift the box finally shows up. The straps were not properly packed and only loosely placed in the box. Consequently three of the four strap containers were severly damaged. E-trailer service rep. does not feel e-trailer has any responsibility in which I totally disagree with. 464706

Really Heavy Duty. A whole lot easier and more secure than rope or bungie cords. 217021

Interesting that you follow up a year later. Although I dont use these often, when I need them, such as when I rented a power washer and needed to secure it in the truck, they do the job perfectly and are very easy to use. So far, I havent had to spray any silicon lubricant any where yet.

Well, not much of a review here one year later ... since they're STILL new in the package! I have a pile of old straps in the truck that are quick and easy to grab, so these got forgotten in the piles of other stuff packed in my garage. Maybe by the 2-year update I'll have some usage experience to post here ... :) 592544

It is a great thing to not have to have 2 pieces to put together in order to tie a load down. These are easy to use and are being used to tie a load down at the end of a long day prior to leaving the job site where the light is low. The only thing that one has to be careful of when using these is to not put them across a sharp edge. 589997

  • Attaching Ratchet Straps to a Thule AeroBar Roof Rack on a 2017 Honda Pilot
I went to our warehouse and measured the webbing loop of the Erickson Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps, part # EM34415 . In this case, you won't be able to get them around the bar. they measure only 2-3/4 inches in length and won't make it around the 3-1/4 inch diameter aeroblades. Your best bet is something like a Ratchet Grab Tie-Down, part # RRSRG that mounts into the C-Channel of your crossbars and allows you to connect to the bar itself or to an installable Eye-bolt, part # S604. Some of these mechanisms include a lock in addition to the anti-rattle function.
