A water pump is needed to get the water from your RV or boat's fresh water holding tank up to your faucets. This automatic pump from Seaflo not only performs this task, but it also ensures a consistent flow and high-volume output for up to 2 fixtures. This means that you can run your shower and your kitchen faucet at the same time without losing pressure. It's also energy efficient and runs quietly.
There are 2 types of pumps you can get for your RV: one that requires manually priming every time you run your fresh water tank dry, and one that primes automatically. Manual priming requires that you pour water into the pump, which can be inconvenient and messy. This pump primes itself, keeping you and your RV clean and dry.
Seaflo uses an automatic start-and-stop pressure switch that lets the pump run dry long enough to self-prime. If you turn your water on and realize you've unknowingly run your fresh water tank dry, the pump can run dry without damage while you shut the faucet and the pump off. The pressure switch also protects the pump motor from overheating when the water has been on for a while. So, if one of your kids leaves the faucet on, you're going to town with the washdown hose, or your teen takes a long shower (despite your asking them to conserve water), the pump will kick off when it starts to get hot. Once the motor has cooled, it will automatically come back on if the faucet or shower is still turned on.
To use this pump once it's installed, you only have to turn the water on!
Quick Tips: Some of our neighbors suggest unplugging this pump when you're traveling to prevent it from turning on accidentally if your faucets shake. And some of our feline-loving friends also recommend unplugging the unit any time you leave your cats unsupervised.
This pump can be installed on the floor, under a cabinet, or on the wall. Because this pump has a vertical, priming lift, you can install it up to 6' above your fresh water tank. Just make sure to measure 6' from the bottom of your holding tank. This is where the intake fitting will sit. Remember that this pump plugs into a standard, 115V wall outlet, so be sure there's one nearby.
Once you've determined the pump's location, it can be secured to its new home with 4 screws (not included).
A filter is included to prevent debris from entering the pump. To install this, just screw it inline with the inlet port.
The fittings on the pump are male NPT ports. Screw the 1/2"-14 NPT hose barbs onto the pump fittings. The hose barb fittings have wingnuts to make it easy to turn the fittings by hand. Once you have the tubing (sold separately) in place on the hose barbs, add hose clamps (sold separately) for extra security.
Fill your fresh water tank, turn your water faucet on to clear the lines of air, and plug in the Seaflo pump. It should kick on immediately, but because self-priming can take up to a minute to complete, give it a little time to start producing water at the faucet.
