Advent Air Dometic Plug-In

This AC unit from Advent Air is designed to replace the old or broken Dometic air conditioner on your RV or camper. It plugs directly into your Dometic setup and works seamlessly with your existing, in-good-working-order Dometic air distribution box and thermostat. This eliminates the need of an adapter wiring kit, which saves you time and effort. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace your AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

The main problem with these units is the shipping container. This was the third unit that arrived damaged. UPS must have flipped the box over on its top and crushed the compressor terminal housing. The impact was hard enough for one of the terminal screws to punch a hole through the top cover of air conditioner. I waited weeks for this unit to be in stock again and now they want me to wait weeks more to get a replacement. as for the quality of the unit itself: unknown since I can't get a fully functional unit to install. Probably going with a Furion or Dometic at this point.

Advent 15000 BTU AC. Best price I could find on the internet or anywhere else for that matter. I received the unit 4 days earlier than expected which was a good thing. The installation, including getting it on the roof, was about 30 minutes. The Advent was a direct replacement for a 4/5-year-old Dometic Brisk II that quit cooling. The Advent is slightly quitter that the Dometic but of course that is only my subjective opinion. On low speed you can continue an intelligible conversation. The Advent has been installed 3 days now and it is working great.
I have purchased from etrailer in the past and have been completely satisfied. There are three concern/issues that need to be mention/address. (1) Packaging could have been better. The box it came in looked like it had been rolling around in the back of a UPS truck. (2) There was no installation instruction or owner’s manual whatsoever that came with the unit. I pulled mine off the internet. (3) the unit had minor damage on the base or main frame of the unit (I hope it does not cause issue later). The damage was not so bad as to cause forgoing the installation. Since the shipping box did not show any noticeable damage at the location of the damage on the unit, I can only assume that it was shipped by etrailer that way which is a QC issue.

Just completed one year full-time rving since the installation of the unit. Still working fine puts out good cold air. Its a little loud on full speed but I think thats expected in most travel trailers.

by:

Even though it was a different brand from what we originally had on the top of our camper, the fit was an exact match. I had it installed within an hour. It is a quiet unit with more BTUs.

by:

Outstanding AC unit. The AC from etrailer.com was super easy to install and works like a champ! Highly recommended!

by:

Easy install. Plug n play fit perfectly. Hardest part was getting it on top of TTrailer. Working great after 1 year.
About half price of dealer Dometic OEM AC

by:

Installed today and what can I say. Installation. Was a breeze. Start capacitor bolted right into place on the unit and the six pin connector fit perfectly into my Domitec setup. Air was pushing sub 30 degree cool air. This AC was installed on a 2018 Keystone Cougar 315 fifth wheel.

My 3 year old dometic had the 120v wire rub thru on ac refrigerant line going to compressor and arced a hole in it. 20,000+ miles on RV, fulltime. I needed a replacement in a hurry for Labor day weekend. I tried to find a like Dometic unit but could not get one in time to install before weekend. With great reservation I ordered the Advent direct replacement from etrailer, I watched their videos and read reviews, good and bad. I wanted the Dometic brand but had to take a chance, within 20 min I had old unit removed sitting on roof next to opening, 6 screws inside cover, 4 long bolts to unit, freeze sensor lead, and one 6 wire connector. Stop here, the area between outside unit and inside cover had duct work and had gap between roof and inside ceiling, there was duct tape sealing this area and it was all peeled off and gaps, so hot air would be circulating in the ac outlet area, we spent a hour taping this space up to eliminate air leaks to and from roof in the ac interior air box. back to install the new unit set right in place and bolted down, plugged in wire and freeze sensor had a indicator where to install it in the evaporator. I failed to mention installing the start capacitor that came with the unit is easy as well, you could do it before or after, i chose to do before on the ground and not on roof. bolted down the unit and plugged in 6 pin connector. turned on AC and immediately surprised by noise level, easily 1/3 to half quieter than old unit? i believe largely due to old tape in duct work causing air noise. but may be the unit itself. ran this unit 4 days non stop in 90+ degree weather and it cooled better than old unit? again not sure if its the unit or the fixing hot air bypassing in the interior area of ac discharge. Very happy with unit and if it lasts 2 years I will be happy, don’t hesitate to get this, i had never replaced a rv ac unit before and it took less than an hour minus fixing the air box of the rv. etrailer shipped the unit in a timely manner, I had concerns with shipping times and they provided great feedback during the shipping process. 2021 MPG TR BH2100

Excellent service and support thank you very much!

by:

Purchased one for a TT and after 2 uses it wit working. Fought with the company for 1 year to get warranty coverage. Finally got that done. Sold the TT right after that. Bought a second for a 5th wheel. Have had it for 1 year and seems to be working as intended. No bells or whistles. Just doing what an ac does. Using these only because they're least expensive at the time of purchase.

by:

Install was super easy. Have a plan and be careful getting it on the roof. Appears to work. It's a bit cheaper than the Dometic Brisk Air II that it replaced but it's supposed to have higher BTUs. Hopefully it lasts plenty long and works great. I'll have a better idea after the next month!

Oh my goodness! Customer Service will be in touch with you.

by:

simple install, make sure to prep around ducting with foil tape to seal good and decrease loss of cool air escaping. Plug and play install, blows harder than the dometic it replaced on my motorhome.

by:

etrailer is very quick to recommend equipment claiming the parts are “direct replacement “ and the moment you have issue’s they immediately refer you to the manufacturer.

Their representatives told me the parts are direct replacement, if I have to open up the AC and run the new start capacitor that’s not the case.

by:

Now don’t get me wrong; the air conditioner works great and cools perfectly! But this is supposed to be a straight hookup to dometic systems… yeah NO! Maybe dometic 1990’s but not 2010+ Dometic heat and cooling systems. The wiring is for old school dometic and we had to remove the control box off the original AC and install it on this new ac unit cutting all connects at the blower motor and compressor and wiring it into the old control board!!! This is insane…. Might as well of sent us a blower motor and compressor in a box all disassembled. If your dometic system is wired with telephone Jack’s DO NOT BUY THIS!!!

by:

It was delivered in a timely manner. Have not installed a/c yet but will later this week. Shipment arrived as scheduled. Thank You.

by:

Ordered for a friend who damaged theirs on low hanging branches. They say it is working well for them.

by:

Had it for about a year now and it works great! No complaints.

by:

I ordered this to replace my unit that went out. It installed as stated and runs great. It is loud but I knew that going into it.

by:

Ordered this A/C unit in May for 3day weekend and installed it and it was too loud and it never cooled the trailer and never shut off at 75 degrees.I called to etrailer and was told I could not get my money back because I had installed it. How could I have known it didn't work properly if I hadn't hooked it up. Its pretty bad when a company don't want to make things right. I also was never told that the unit was made in China. Will not be buying from etrailer again.

by:

Very easy to do install

by:

Excellent service and products.

by:

I received this unit very quickly. Communication was outstanding. I knew when it was shipped and when to expect it.
Installation was very easy. 4 bolts and plug in wiring harness. The most difficult task was to get the unit on to the roof@!

by:

First let me comment on customer service. Donna was excellent for me. She answered all of my questions and got me the correct part for my trailer. Now to the a/c. This this is awesome. It is truly a plug and play for my domestic plus it has more air flow. Definitely an upgrade in my book.

by:

Amazing product, I will definitely recommend Advent to all my RV friends. Extremely easy to install, just a little to heavy to get up a ladder alone so i used a tractor to lift the unit to the roof of my RV, 4 bolts on the inside to remove and the wiring harness and off with the pos demetic, placed the Advent right in place bolted it down turned it on and instantly got cold air, very cold air! Only thing you have to install which I think the factory could do but, was easy.

by:

The Advent brand was recommended to us by several mobile RV repair people. Selecting the right unit was made even easier by the descriptors etrailer used. Installation was very simple and we had the old uninstalled and new installed in under 30 minutes. This unit is even quieter than the Dometic it replaced. Item was delivered within days of ordering. Easy breezy.
