Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Thule Replacement Mounting Hardware Set. This set is going to replace the quick release mounting hardware needed for your SportRack or your Thule cargo box. This will work with the SportRack Horizon, the SportRack Aero, and the SportRack Expedition. This will also work with your Thule Excursion, Thule Frontier, Thule Mountaineer, and your Thule Traveler cargo boxes. This is going to include all the hardware needed to mount all four corners of your cargo box to your roof rack crossbars.
This is going to have a maximum crossbar dimension of 1 9/16 of an inch tall and 3 3/4 of an inch wide. You can see our distance between the holes on our mounting plate here, it's gonna be 3 15/16, just shy of four inches center to center. So if you are needing to replace that original quick release mounting hardware, this is gonna be exactly what you need. That completes our look for today. Easy to install and convert the roof top carrier to a much more secure and theft proof transport.
Original u bolts that came with the sportRack just didn't fit my oem vw crossbars. This product is exactly the same but with a little more space. Works well around the town and a road trip this summer will test it on a long trip.
Perfect replacement parts for my Sears brand turtle that is more than 15 years old.
2015 Jeep Patriot Latitude
I bought a used Sears X Cargo Carrier at a local thrift shop. It was in very good condition. But the latches were broke off and it had strap mounts only. The Replacement Latch for SportRack Explorer Cargo Box Item # 03347. Was an exact OEM replace match. X Sears Carriers were made by Thule. Install was simple and took about 5 min. The cross bar mounting kit was was again very easy to install. I have 52" CargoLoc cross bars. The length of the bolts left about 1.25" of threads. Hand tightening was all that was needed to lock the carrier firmly to the Jeep. I drove it out on the interstate at 70MPH. There was no handling issues with cross wind or at speed. The pics show the mounting hardware and the latches. Jeep owners this is an excellent system to expand cargo space.
This kit was very easy to use and accommodate our rooftop cargo carrier. I did have to drill separate holes; however, the stickers provided to cover up old holes worked surprisingly well. We purchased our cargo carrier used and it did not have any make/model information on it. Worked great on the stock rooftop cross bars of a 2018 4Runner.
The only reason this did not get a 5-star rating was the slight difficulty in installing this the first time. It may have been user error, but even making this a 2-person job, it can be difficult getting the hardware to align correctly while reaching across the rooftop. Your mileage may vary, but if you have an SUV and you’re not tall, it may cause some issues with lining up the hardware under the cargo carrier.

Product worked just as desribed. I installed a late model Sears X-Cargo unit on our 2015 Chevy Traverse LT. The initial package arrived with a broken knob, but etrailer immediately shipped a replacement knob at no charge....a great way to stand behind their products and something I appreciate! I took a picture of the unit, but already removed after our trip. Thanks etrailer!
Bought this for an older Thule box that was missing parts. It arrived on time and works well. I think it was a bit pricy for what it is, but I supposed that’s because it’s a bit of a niche product.
I was given a car roof carrier but the hardware needed was missing so lucky for me and that etrailer had the exact original replacement parts. Wish their shipping was as quick as that other online site but regardless the wait I’m very satisfied with this purchase at a fair price and highly recommend etrailer for all your needs when it comes to towing or other related needs for your car.

Perfect fit. The detailed product descriptions made it easy to buy the right replacement parts.
Product was fine, but if you have a plastic ski rack inside this largest size Thule Box, the bolts need to be a little longer to accommodate the rack base pieces, as they do not account for that. The rack was never that sturdy anyways and often fell over inside the box and we ended up just putting an old blanket down first and laying the skis and other stuff on that, which also absorbed any meltoff/water from the skis. So when I used this kit I just removed the rack base pieces and this kit worked fine. I feel much more confident without old rusty bolts holding this huge rack on the roof of the Suburban in case of a hard stop.

Unfortunately this product was unable to successfully mount a SportRack Vista XL onto my stock 2011 Nissan Xterra crossbars. The problem with the product is two fold, first the stock crossbars must mount a Vista Xl at their widest point which is where a thick plastic mounts it to the vertical bars making the distance between the pre drilled holes to far. Secondly even if you attempt to force it through there is not enough thread remaining to screw it on. Ultimately I had to drilled 4 sets of new holes approximately 4 inches towards the interior from the vista xl pre drilled hole. Using this substitute mounting set I was able to just barely screw it on to make it stay. I will definitely be going out to buy some longer bolts to ensure it won’t fly off mid drive.

Due to the very large diameter crossbars, mounting anything to the factory roof rack of the Nissan xTerra can be a challenge.
I have an old school grey and white Sears x-cargo roof cargo box. These mounts worked perfectly. Even though they are not listed for this box, they still worked great. I traveled almost 3000 miles with them and didn't have any problems.

awesome, we have used the cargo box 6 times since we purchased the mounts and they are working out great. easy to attach and take off too.
these replaced my old rusty, falling apart brackets. OF course, this set up isn't as good as the newer, more user friendly brackets but my cargo box is old. I have no complaints about etrailer. In fact, I think this was the only place. I could find what I needed,
Good on-line ordering experience, arrived within 7 days as expected, all pieces were in the package. Just what we needed. Hardware that came with the new larger SportRack that we ordered would not fit our cross bars, these work great.

A little pricey but worth it. Item shipped quickly, tracking great, fitted my Thule Frontier well. Could have benefitted with a video on how to install rather than just a video on parts sent.
Good quality materials. About the only thing I had to rig was rubber pads for the top and bottom clamps. Don't buy the mfr kit, this after market kit works fine. Thank you etrailer.

Worked perfectly with my ancient Thule rooftop carrier, and my wife's Grand Caravan. Our road trips are taken with 3 kids , 2 dogs, and my wife and I. She tends to overpack, so having the carrier securely mounted to the factory bars is a huge help for managing the space in the vehicle.
Super easy to install, and the the quick mount/unmount are a blessing as well.
