Surface-Mount Light
Surface-mount trailer lights install using a flange or bracket with mounting holes. These lights lay flat against the trailer surface and only require a small, often pre-existing hole, for wiring. Mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.
Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light
The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The circuit board is sealed, which means that water will not damage the diodes or circuit board.
Raw Lumens vs. Effective Lumens
Lumens are used to measure the amount of usable light that is put out by a light source. Raw lumens represent the number of lumens that the manufacturer claims the LEDs are capable of producing. It does not include the light's drive method or the amount of light lost from the lens or reflector. Effective lumens take these factors into account and represent the number of lumens that are actually produced by the complete light assembly, not just the amount of light that the diodes are capable of producing. This light has a 360 raw lumen capacity and produces 220 effective lumens.

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a quick look at the Optibright LED strip light for your RVs. This is a low profile LED strip light that's going to produce a bright white light at a 45 degree downward angle. So it's going to give us a nice illuminated area for our RV Awnings, maybe our porch, or an area light sort of application.You can see we've got a clear polycarbonate lens. It's got a durable black plastic housing with lots of white LEDs.
This housing and the lens together are waterproof, they have an IP rating of 67. So to break that down a little bit, that six of the 67 means that it is dust tight, so you're not going to have to worry about any dust getting in there and causing any problems.The seven means that it is watertight up to one meter or about three feet of water for about 30 minutes. So it's going to definitely withstand your power washing to clean your RV, but it will also stand a lot of heavy rain. You're not going to have to worry about water seeping in there, it will hold up very well for you. For all intents and purposes it is waterproof in your RV application.Now I mentioned that this has LEDs.
If you're not familiar with LEDs, LEDs are a great replacement for your incandescent lights, they're kind of the wave of the future now. They last about 50 times longer than your incandescent lights, they're more efficient, they're going to give you a brighter light with less power output.You're not going to need to replace any bulbs because the LEDs don't have any of those brittle filaments like your incandescent lights do. So they're going to last you a lot longer. In fact, this comes with a lifetime warranty on the LEDs. So that's how much trust the Optibright folks have in those LEDs.
They're going to last the lifetime of the product.There are 18 of those light emitting diodes. So it's going to give us plenty of light. In fact, our light output, the raw lumens is 360 lumens. And basically that's what the manufacturer is saying these lights are capable of producing. The effective lumens is how much they're actually going to put out with all the different obstacles in their way to that kind of damping down on that light.
So you're actually going to get about 220 lumens, which is still going to be plenty of light for you on your porch or on wherever you've decided to mount this.We do have a two wire design, so we're going to have our power lead and our ground wire. This is compatible with your 12 volt and 24 volt DC systems. That's going to draw about 0.3 amps on your 12 volt system, so not going to take much power at all to run this light.And it is a surface Mount. You can see on the back here, we're going to have two non seen holes that we can Mount this onto whatever our application may be. The hardware is going to be included, we've got two screws here and some self adhesive tape to help us get this installed and make sure that it's nice and snug.As far as our dimensions, the overall length is just under 19 inches, I'd call it 18 and seven eighths of an inch long. The unit is going to be right about one and five eighths of an inch tall. As far as the thickness, hold this so you can read it with me. Looking at right about one and a quarter of an inch thick. Now our distance between our mounting holes is going to be important to make sure that we can get this mounted where we want it. So I measure this just a moment ago, might not be able to line it up perfectly on camera, but I did measure it just a moment ago and it came out to be 16 and five eighths of an inch between those from center to center. So keep that in mind when you're deciding on where you can Mount this.You will probably want to have it mounted up high because of that downward angle. Like I said, a porch or an awning area, make sure that you're getting lots of bright light out on the ground.And I do want to show you how this works, so I'm going to hook this up to our tester box here. So you can see how bright those LEDs are. Turn off the lights in the studio here. It's going to be very bright, it's going to give us lots of light when we're out camping in the dark as the sun sets then start to get a little bit darker, we'll still have plenty of light to enjoy our time outdoors. That's going to complete our look at the Optibright LED strip light for your RVs.

I installed these on the back of my boat trailer and hooked them up to my reverse lights for launching my boat in the dark. I wanted an extremely bright flood so I could see both sides and the down the center. Just wonderfully bright and dependable a year later as when new.

I replaced a halogen external light fixture on my horse trailer with this model LED light fixture several months ago. It is brighter, instant on and lower energy usage which are all positives especially for the battery when the trailer is disconnected. I ordered 2 more to replace the other external halogen light fixtures on my horse trailer. Good lighting is especially important when you need to access your trailer with your horse after sundown. Also easy to install.

I ordered two of these for headlights on a 36 volt electric golf cart. These things are brighter than a lot of car headlights and have great range. If i ever need anymore for back up lights or work lights on my truck i will be ordering these. I have been using them for over a year and they still work great. I have been ordering from etrailer for about 5 years now and let me tell you there is no better company or staff to deal with.

Good product, very bright with low amperage. Bought these for my horse trailer to replace my prep area and ramp load area lights. Install is easy but on horse trailers where just the thin steel sheet is used, the square backing of the bolt protrudes through the bracket and won't tighten fully, leaving some wobble and play that is not acceptable for horse trailer exterior. a thick lag bolt washer did the trick. Also, for an 'area' light, this is not the most ideal. it's extremely bright but a tighter beam than i would have liked. Meaning, mounted 8 feet off the ground, there is a very tight 5 feet long by 2 or 3 feet wide strip of really bright, around the saddle on our horse. i was expecting something like a 7 x 5 or more given the shape of the light. picked based on lumens, but beam angle was not presented. would be good info. Overall 4 stars, really just because of the narrow beam.

I purchased the lights to replace the headlights on our forklift because I was tired of replacing bulbs every couple of weeks, but once they were on we realized how much better the LED lights are. They light up the whole area in front of the lift and no more replacing bulbs. Great product at a great price.

The best light to use when it's dark! I used these lights on my off-road camping trailer and they work! It was dark at night and this can be a real problem, so I installed these lights and I could see at night. Super great price for an inexpensive solution. The mounts are real simple with a nut and bolt for the up and down and a carriage bolt and nut for mounting. Easy!

I have used both the aluminum model and the plastic housing models on our work trailers . I prefer the plastic housing light due to the rough roads. The lighter weigh light causes less stress on the mounting points. Good product and etrailer is good on communicating with customers.

nice bright light. mounted on outside of enclosed trailer. Solid aluminum construction. Doesn't come with any instructions but fairly simple. White is ground. I mixed up wires at first.
