Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs - not approved for fifth wheels, motorhomes, or towable campers

The Freedom gives you the liberty to rapidly load and safely transport 2 fat bikes on your vehicle's 1-1/4" or 2" hitch. This compact, platform-style rack has wheel trays that are specifically designed for fat bike tires. And it's easy to use and weighs just 22.5 lbs, so you'll spend more time riding and less time wrestling with the rack or loading and unloading your bikes.

Pivoting Cradles with Cushioned Straps

Saris Freedom Cuscino Cradle

You'll sleep tight knowing that your bikes are lovingly cradled in Saris' patent-pending Cuscinos - or pillows. These pillows are built into the ratcheting straps that hold your bikes by the downtubes or top tubes in the rubber-lined cradles. These straps are specially designed to avoid scratching or scuffing your bike paint during transport. The rubber-lined cradles also have grooves that accommodate brake lines and cables.

Saris Freedom Adjustable Cradles

The cradles pivot and slide up and down the central mast. This allows the rack to grab your bike's tube at the perfect angle. Plastic twist knobs secure the cradles in place.

Adjustable Wheel Trays

The injection-molded plastic wheel trays are larger and deeper than standard cradles and will hold tires up to 5" wide. The trays slide along the rack's horizontal arm to accommodate bikes with different wheelbases. These trays secure in place with plastic twist knobs. Extra-long, ratcheting plastic straps secure your bicycle's fat wheels to the trays.

Standard cradles are also included so that you can carry 2 standard bikes, 1 standard bike and 1 fat bike, or 2 fat bikes - all with one rack.

Folding Mast

Saris Freedom 2 Folded

You can fold down the upright mast by pulling a lever at the base. This allows you to easily access your vehicle's rear cargo area, and it means you can leave the rack in your hitch without it interfering with your cargo hatch or backup camera. The compact design also lets you easily store the rack in your garage when it's not in use.

Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin and Adapter Sleeve

Saris Freedom 2 Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin and Adapter Sleeve

The threaded hitch pin helps to prevent the rack from moving and rattling around in your vehicle's hitch receiver. And the included adapter sleeve ensures that Freedom will fit both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. An anti-rattle hitch lock (SA3022 - sold separately) and cable lock (SA981 - sold separately) are recommended to deter theft of the rack and your bikes.

Everything looked good except one piece was damaged. I just got off the phone with Korren to report the damaged piece and she is sending a replacement part. Both products, bike rack and receiver hitch otherwise looked to be very well built. Your company and representatives, Loren and Korren were very nice to work with on my purchase. Thank you

Review from a similar Freedom in Hitch Bike Racks

WOW WOW WOW That is what I just kept saying after installing this Saris bike rack. I have been looking for a bike rack for almost 3-4 months now. Thule and Yakima didn't have what I was looking for. Their solution for a 4-5 bike rack is too complicated, not efficient, and it would be a nightmare to manage on a regular basis. So I couldn't get myself to pull a trigger on any of those and I kept searching. Finally, I came to eTrailer and found out about Saris. That is where the love starts :) We are a family of 5 (3 kids and 2 grown-ups). I needed something that will help me load bikes fast, unload them and still be able to have access to the back of my Toyota Sequoia. Saris delivered in every way. Assemble of the item is straight forward. Instructions are clear and to the point. They even give you a yellow strip that helps you mark where the hitch needs to be in order to align hole openings for easier installation after you install it the first time ;) The back-up camera is still usable but not 100%. Tilting down the rack with the bikes on it is simple as 1-2-3. There is plenty of room left between the trunk door and the bike as you can see on the pictures. One HUGE benefit is that you do not need any extra parts for kids bikes. Not like with other brands. Saris delivers tremendously on this part too. No shaking, rattling, or anything that would make you notice that you have this amazing product on the back of your SUV/truck. I can't recommend it more. I am just surprised that this product has not been more advertised and represented compared to other products.

After a year this product is going strong. I have made my life easier by always putting same bikes in the same position heavier adult bikes closer to the car, and lighter kid bikes on the opposite side. This way I dont have to every adjust straps again. It makes everything so much easier. Just do yourself a favor and buy this product. You wont be sorry not for a little bit!

This bike rack isn’t made for a woman to use and the rod with the clamps doesn’t fold out, only forwards and back and is always in the way of putting the bike on. It’s not functional. I’m very unhappy. I am transporting my car to Florida and need it out is return it. This is the second bike rack I’ve been very unhappy with.

Hi Kristina, Thanks for your feedback! For a bike rack that has the frame mounts move out of the way better, I would recommend the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack, part S94FR . This will make it easier to load your bikes.

Thanks so much for this great bike rack! I assembled it fairly easily, it was just as lightweight as I thought it would be, and my two ebikes fit perfectly on it! Plus, it looks great and I love knowing I bought an American made product from a company also in America!

Review from a similar Freedom in Hitch Bike Racks

I assembled the Saris Freedom 4 bike and upon mounting the 3rd bike, the tire holder just snapped. I didn't even hit the road (thank goodness), it was a test mount after first assembly. I can't imagine if I was actually driving and I hit a bump and this occurred on the highway. Another reviewer stated the wheel mounts cracked and Saris sent them a set, but this isn't good enough for me. This is a safety issue and this product should be recalled. The plastic is brittle and unacceptable. I'm returning right away.

Review from a similar Freedom in Hitch Bike Racks

Bike rack seems perfect for our needs. I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet (weather), but I put it together and tried out our bikes on it. 2 adult hybrids, a 20" kids mountain bike and a 16" kids mountain bike. Everything fit perfectly - way better than I've seen with other racks. I agree with the other reviews that positioning everything is tedious, but if you keep the same bike alignment, it's a one-time annoyance. Might up to 5 stars after I actually use the thing (or lower), but for now, 4 feels right. One of the wheel cups did arrive damaged, but I called etrailer while I was putting it together and they mailed me out a replacement that day. Great customer service! Note: This is one of the lightest 4 bike racks I looked into and I'm glad I did. 50 pounds is a lot to line up with a hitch receiver as is. I'm pretty sure I would need help installing the thing if I went with a heavier rack.

The review is about the product and not etrailer. The product does what it says. the directions could have been a bit clearer. tried it out and works fine. I'm not sure that I would pay for a tilting rack the next time as I think that it's just too much. Etrailer - WOW. talk about customer service. this is a company to do business with if there is a choice. there is so much good information to use for research purposes (eg videos, pictures), easy ordering, follow up emails during ordering process etc.

Review from a similar Freedom in Hitch Bike Racks

Although I have net transported bikes yet ( picking up 2 bikes later today), I do want to share that purchasing it thru etrailer.com was very easy and it shipped very fast to my home. The Sarris Freedom was extremely easy to put together. It took about 10 minutes, basicly 3 bolts. Its very sturdy yet light, not bulky. Looks easy to store in my garage when not in use. Straps and wheel holders appear to be very well built. Got it on sale and the price was very good. Looking forward to trying it out later when picking up 2 new bikes. I plan on transporting somewhat locally between 5 and 25 miles each way. Initial feeling its a very nice rack.

Review from a similar Freedom in Hitch Bike Racks

I selected this rack because the mounting points do not interfere with fenders. it is very easy to use and adjust after the initial set up. I typically do not leave the rack on the car went not in use, but the tilting function is useful if it is on without bikes. Easy access to the trunk with bikes attached by using the tilt lever. Working well after 1 year of use, and seems like it will last many more.

Review from a similar Freedom in Hitch Bike Racks

I needed a bike rack to fit on my Jeep Wrangler that has 37 in tires and deep fuel wheels. This item with the extension, fit perfectly even with a backup camera on my bolts for my 37 in. Toyo spare tire. I am able to detach it with one screw and it is lightweight, so i only have bolt it on, add bike(s) and go. Easy to install minus the fact a 37 inch tire weighs a lot. Etrailer.com didn’t have the extension part in stalk but kept me informed of every step of the way. I still received it within 5 business days with customer service followed it all the way through. Great company.

This is an excellent rack. Solid, works well, very good price. Wheel cups not sized for heavy eBikes--you'll need the larger cups, which is a $100 add-on. Still a very good deal but not quite a steal. Customer service at eTrailers is excellent, would gladly do business with them again.

Bike rack works great for my truck. I was able to load all the bikes and still fold down the tail gate which was real important to me. Folds up easy when not in use. I would also like to thank etrailer for getting the bike rack shipped out quickly. It arrived the day before I had to leave on vacation which made loading up the truck a lot easier.

Etrailers website was easy to use and the product choices were great. We found the exact product that we were looking for to accommodate our two folding "Bike Fridays". We will use the rack on the back of our Mazda CX-5 and on the front of our Ford F450 pu truck. Your service was outstanding shipping, tracking and delivery. The onsite videos were helpful. Thank you very much. Pics are attached.

Review from a similar Freedom in Hitch Bike Racks

I just installed this on my Jeep and it was really easy. I have aftermarket tires which are pretty wide so I had to purchase the extended mounting plate. It is really sturdy. I feel a lot better about putting a carbon fiber frame bike on this platform rack, opposed to have to hang it on my old rack which isn’t good for the carbon frame. Also it is nice to be able to open the gate on the Jeep while it is still attached. I won’t have to take it off to put my dogs in the back of the Jeep.

I really wish I had gone with a different option. This rack is functional and secure, but annoyingly difficult to use. It takes a while just to get all the different cradles and straps positioned right for your configuration of bikes. And then it is difficult getting them loaded with those uprights in the middle, and not much clearance between bikes. A lot of fiddling with pedals and adjusting seat heights to make it work each time. If you have a different configuration of bikes you have to redo everything. The ratcheting straps stick really bad, which gets frustrating. I guess I expected more from a $500+ rack. Not a lot of pros that I can think of.

Review from a similar Freedom in Hitch Bike Racks

I received my Freedom 2 rack yesterday. It took me about 10 minutes to assemble it with no issues at all. This morning, I put the rack on the back of my 2014 Ford Explorer, and began to load my bike. The rack attached easily to my 2" hitch receiver, and when I tightened the bolt, it was a very sturdy and stable fit. I made the adjustments required to mount my bike on the rack, and found that it traveled securely and very stable. My only issue with the Freedom 2 is the hold-down straps on the wheel and tube brackets. I think a better ratcheting system and a better qualitty strap would greatly enhance the unit. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the rack. My carbon fibre hybrid and my grandson's road bikes will be easily transported to wherever we want to ride!

Great Bike Rack! After a year, its as stable and as tight as when it was brand new. I feel very confident when I transport my bikes.

I recommend the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack for Fat Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B-FB which has a weight capacity of 60lbs per bike. This bike rack can hold tires up to 5" wide. It is the best option for transporting your two electric bikes and works well with step-thru bikes since it has adjustable cradles to attach to the bike frame. I do recommend adding the...

  • Recommended Carrier For Various Styles Of Electric Bikes
The Kuat Transfer V2 2-Bike Rack # KU84FR is an excellent bike rack that is compatible with motorhomes, RV's, and travel trailers. This has a weight capacity of 60lbs per bike and can hold up to 3" wide tires; for fat bikes use Fat Bike Adapter Kit # APBK which is an add-on that allows for up to 4.8" wide tires. There are built-in locks to secure the bikes and carrier to your vehicle. While this holds 2 bikes, you can use 1 Bike Add-On # KU57FR to haul a third bike on this rack; keep in...

  • Recommended Bike Rack To Carry 2 Lectric Fat Tire e-Bikes on Jeep
Lectric Bikes is right on the money. My go-to recommendation is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE, part # HLY84FR. The rack can handle 2 bikes weighing up to 80 lbs each with tires up to 5 inches in width. To determine if the rack will work on your Jeep, you'll need to find the hitch pin hole in your hitch receiver tube. Measure from the center of the hole rearward until you clear either the furthest rearward point of the back bumper or the furthest rearward edge of the spare tire...

  • Which Carrier Will Accommodate 2 60lb Electric Bikes On 2019 Jeep Wrangler With Spare Tire On Back
I would look into the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B. This has a weight capacity of 60lbs per bike and is a highly recommended bike rack for electric bikes. This should clear your spare tire without an issue, but to verify you will want to measure from your trailer hitch pin hole to the rearmost part of your spare tire. The closest part of this bike rack is 12" from the trailer hitch pin hole so if your measurement was less than 12" you...

  • Are Fat Tire Cradles on Saris Freedom Bike Rack Compatible with Smaller Tire Widths?
The Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack for Fat Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B-FB will work well for all the bikes you referenced. The fat tire cradles work fine with smaller tire widths. If you instead want the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B, then you can just trade out one set of the cradles with the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Saris Freedom Bike Racks # SA4419 and you'd be all set.

  • Carrying Two Fat Bikes with the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack with Adapters
If the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack, part # C18085 can carry two fat bikes will be determined by the weight of the bikes. Each position is limited to 45 pounds, and the individual bikes in this position can't exceed this weight capacity, even with the fat bike adapters, part # C18091 equipped onto the rack. If you're buying for two fat bikes, you can save a little bit by buying the dual Fat Bike kit, part # C18085-FB. If you have heavier fat bikes, and this rack won't work for you, I recommend...

  • Bike Racks that Will Fit 5 Inch Wide Fat Bike Tires
Fat Bike Straps # TH985101 will allow a bike with tires up to 4-11/16 inches wide to fit the EasyFold XT, # TH903202, but not 5 inch wide tires. There are other bike racks that will accept fat bike tires up to 5 inches wide right out of the box: Thule T2 Classic # TH9044 or # TH9045 RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10007-05 RockyMounts BackStage # RKY10002 Yakima HoldUp EVO # Y02479 or # Y02480 Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2-Bike Rack for Fat Bikes # HR200Z-FB Hollywood Racks Sport Rider...

  • Platform 2-Bike Rack for 2014 FJ Cruiser with Draw-Tite Hitch 75461
I'm glad to hear your Draw-Tite custom-fit hitch # 75461 installation went well on your 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser and I can help you with measuring the FJ to confirm the hitch bike racks that you can use. When we installed this hitch on a 2014 FJ we noted the center of the hitch pin hole was 8-1/2-inches from the back of the tire cover. Since the Thule EasyFold # TH903202 provides 9-inches of clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rack's upright bar the fit will be too...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation that Wont Block 2018 Ford Escape Backup Camera and Looks Really Cool
I will be happy to make some recommendations for you. But keep in mind that any loaded bike rack is going to block the view of the backup camera on your 2018 Ford Escape. But there are some great options that will only sort of block the view when they are not loaded. I recommend taking a look at the following bike racks: Kuat Transfer # TS02G-FB (Gray) Kuat Transfer # TS02B-FB (Black) Both of these racks have a u-shaped frame and since the backup camera on the 2017 Ford Escape...

  • Can Receiver Height be Raised on Stealth Hitches Trailer Hitch for 2019 Volvo V60 for Bike Rack
There isn't a way you can raise the receiver height or alter the positioning of any trailer hitch for your 2019 Volvo V60, including the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH47FR. The issue with this vehicle is that it's back end is low to the ground so I can understand your concern about ground contact, but it would have to be a very steep incline for the receiver itself to make contact. A bike rack would be more likely to make contact because it sticks out so the best thing you...

  • Can the Saris MTR Ramp Be Used on Other Saris Bike Racks?
The Saris MTR Ramp # SA4130 only works with MTR bike racks like # SA4032. That's because it has clips that clip onto the trays of the Saris MTR bike rack. The tray design also allows you to take full advantage of the ramp so the bike can roll on, compared to the separated wheel cradles on the Saris Freedom # SA4412B-FB.

  • Can The Saris SuperClamp EX 2 Bike Platform Rack Support 2 Electric Bikes?
The Saris SuperClamp EX 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # SA4025F is in fact setup for transporting most electric bikes. It has a weight capacity of 60lbs per bike which is enough for the majority of electric bikes, and it fits bike tires up to 4-1/2" wide. If the bike's tires are wider than 4-1/2" then you can add Fat Bike Kit # SA4419 which allows for up to 5" wide tires. One thing to keep in mind is that this bike carrier may not work with some bikes that have...

  • Can the Kuat Beta Carry 1 E-Bike That Weighs 50-lbs
I have a solution for you to carry a heavy e-bike, but the Kuat Beta # B202-2 is not designed to carry heavy e-bikes. The Kuat Beta for 2" Hitches # B202-2 is rated to carry 80-lbs, but that is designed to be distributed across the arms of the rack differently. There are bike racks designed specifically to carry heavy e-bikes, but the Beta is not one of them. Your best bet for a high quality bike rack that's rated to carry a heavy e-bike and that also won't break the bank is the Saris...
