Recommended Hitch Bike Rack That Is Lightweight And Easy To Remove From The Vehicle

Question:

I want to get a hitch mount platform rack for my Kia Sorrento which has a 2inch receiver hitch. The issue is that the car will not fit in the garage with a rack installed. So, I Im looking for a hitch mount tray type rack that is easy to take off and install.

I recommend looking into the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B. This is a lightweight platform rack that only weighs 22.5lbs, making it very easy to install or remove from your vehicle's 2" receiver. This can hold two bikes weighing up to 60lbs each and allows for up to 2-1/4" wide bike tires. If your bikes have wider tires then you will instead want to go with Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack for Fat Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B-FB which allows for up to 5" wide tires. It has the same 60lb per bike weight capacity and weighs about 22.5lbs also. These bike racks work with bikes that have fenders or baskets since it secures the bike by the frame and not the wheel.

If you are wanting to transport 4 bikes then I recommend the Saris Freedom 4 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting # SA4414B or # SA4414B-FB for fat bikes. The weight capacity is 60lbs for each inner bike and 35lbs for each outer bike. These carriers weigh about 53lbs each so they are not as easy to install or remove as the 2-bike carriers.
