Single Bike Rack Recommendation for e-Bike and Class I Hitch Receiver

Updated 04/15/2025 | Published 04/10/2025

Question:

I have a 2024 Honda CRV Hybrid with the oem class 1 hitch installed. It has a 1.25 receiver and the cars max towing capacity is 1000lbs, so I believe the tongue weight is just 100lbs. Im trying to find a compatible bike rack for an ebike. I havent purchased the bike yet but most of the ones Im looking at range in weight from about 45-60 lbs. I would only be carrying one bike.

Hey Iris, thanks for reaching out!

I recommend checking out the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack # KU64FR because it weighs in at 26 lbs and can carry up to 60 lb bikes. The only thing that might not work is this is a tire mount rack so if your bike rack has a front fender, we don't want the fender to get damaged by the hook.

Let me know what bike you have, and I'll let you know if this will accommodate the bike itself!

If the bike has both front and back fenders should they be removed to make the bike more compatible with the rack? Should the back cargo rack also removed?

@IrisP If you can easily remove the front fender, then that would make it more compatible with this rack, yes. the back fender and cargo rack won't need to be messed with. We also have the Benton Single Rack # B54VR which can secure a bike by the frame or the wheel if you'd rather go that route.
