Bike Rack for Lectric Lite XP 2.0 On 2019 Corolla Hatchback

Question:

Hello, I was wondering if you believe my wifes Lectric lite xp 2.0 bike would be compatible with the Saris Freedom Bike Rack 1-1/4 and 2 Hitches - Frame Mount Part Number: SA4412B. Itll be about 55lbs Lectric states the lite is 49lb including the 7lb battery and we just installed a rear back rack. We are getting a class 1 hitch 1 1/4 inch since that is the only option available for her 2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback. Any help would be greatly appreciated because its been difficult to find the right product and we do not want our bike to fall off onto the the road! Thank you for your time and assistance.

Hi Gabriel; the Saris Freedom # SA4412B will not work for the Lectric XP Lite 2.0 since the capacity is 35 lbs per bike when used with a Class I hitch. If you only need it for a single bike you can use the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack # KU64FR which can handle up to 60 lbs. This is a wheel mount instead of a frame mount but it looks like the bike doesn't have fenders so that won't be an issue.

If you need bike rack for 2 bikes I recommend the Thule T2 Classic Bike Rack # TH9045. This has an overall capacity of 100 lbs with a single-bike capacity up to 60 lbs. If you want to add locks to keep it secure you will need the # TH450400 as well. This also holds bike by the wheels with ratcheting hooks. Both options are Class I compatible so they can be used with a hitch like the Curt # C11567.

Great thanks for the information and links! Could you resend the link for # TH544 please? I forgot to mention that we installed a front fender and rear rack/rear fender onto our Lectric Lite. What single & double 1 1/4" rack would you recommend with those restrictions? Also, when an adapter is added to a 1 1/4" to fit a 2" hitch, total capacity increases right? I plan on installing a 2" hitch on my truck once we get a second electric bike in the future, and would love to be able to use the same rack on both vehicles. If not, the priority is definitely the one that carries the ebike on the corolla hatchback. Thank you!

@Gabriel I went ahead and fixed that link for the locks. I see you went with the RockyMounts HighNoon FC Solo # RKY87RR which will work with a fender and can handle 60 lbs. This does have an add-on # RKY27RR to make it a 2-bike rack down the road but the instructions say it reduces capacity to 45 lbs per bike. It isn't clear if that is for the 3-bike variation only or includes converting the one like yours to a 2-bike rack so if you decide to add that in the future I would double check with RockyMounts. I have a feeling it remains at 60 lbs per bike since the # RKY77RR which is the two bike version has a capacity of 60 lbs per bike. Also, adding the adapter to fit a 2" hitch typically doesn't increase the capacity. Some bike racks have a Class I restriction where the capacity is lower like the Saris Freedom we talked about. However, it does not have that restriction with a Class II hitch which would also be a 1-1/4" receiver.
