Adapting a 2" Bike Rack to a 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch

I have a small Chevy hatchback that they put a 1 1/4 hitch on. My e-bike carrier has a 2 opening. I put a reducer? on it and it looks very low. If I put the reducer that raises it up will it make everything too heavy for my ebike? Are there lightweight reducers?

Thanks for your question! I'm happy to help.
My main concern isn't the weight of the Trailer Hitch Adapter - 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch - 4-1/2" Drop/5" Rise - 6-1/2" Long # e93YR, as the adapter itself only weighs about 10 pounds.
These expanding adapters also act like extensions, moving the weight away from the hitch and vehicle. By moving the bike rack and bikes farther away from the hitch, they create additional leverage on the receiver. Because of this, using an adapter can reduce your hitch's tongue weight capacity by as much as 50%.
Many 1-1/4" hitch receivers have a maximum tongue weight rating of only 200 pounds. After accounting for the reduction in capacity caused by the adapter, there often isn't enough remaining capacity to safely support the combined weight of an e-bike rack and one or more e-bikes.
Without knowing the tongue weight ratings of both your vehicle and hitch, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending this product.
If you're only planning to carry one e-bike, I'd recommend using a bike rack that's designed to fit a 1-1/4" receiver directly, rather than using a hitch adapter. A great option is the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack for 1 Bike - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # KU64FR.
This rack can support a single bike weighing up to 60 pounds and fits directly into your existing receiver. By avoiding a hitch adapter, you'll retain the full tongue weight capacity of both your trailer hitch and your vehicle, making for a safer and more secure setup.

My problem with that adapter was I would have to push it too far in to get the holes to lineup, and it was pressing against the painted section of my rear bumper, which I did not want to damage. I have the Hollywood racks sport rider rack for E bikes and regular bikes on my Highlander with the class three it worked out fine on the Camry with the one and a quarter or whatever it is Hollywood racks makes a switch over adapter so I was able to get the bike rack to work, but depending on the type of bike rack, you have the problem I find now is that a regular sedan or small car is too low to the ground and when you’re pulling out of driveways or driveway aprons, it has a tendency to scrape. That’s the only caution I could offer.

I purchased the item that makes your one and a quarter inch hitch on your car elevate a few inches higher and then you have the capability of installing a 2 inch hitch or a bike rack. I tow a jet ski down to my boat ramp behind my house with my Toyota Corolla. Never had a problem. I also use my bike rack when I go mountain biking, and I put two bikes on that and it keeps everything from scraping on the ground I think it’s a fine product. I’d buy another one if I lost it. E trailer sells good stuff if you don’t like it, they’ll take it back, but I think you may have to pay a restocking fee But their customer service is better than most

The riser adaptor worked well for me to keep my bike rack higher away from low obstacles e.g. reversing up steep driveways. Important to get the Quiet Hitch bracket at same time to stop rattles you might have depending on how snug the adaptor fits your hitch and the bike rack. I calculated the 50% reduced load rating was not a problem for my needs.
