Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Let's take a look at our very own etrailer Lock Set. This is gonna be for a two-inch hitch receiver and it's gonna work with a one and 7/8th or two-inch coupler, and you can lock the latch on the coupler itself as well. And to make things even better, it does come with a nice case to store everything in, as you can see. And everything here is gonna be keyed alike.
So what are we getting Well, like I said, you're gonna get that two-inch hitch lock. You're gonna get that coupler latch lock, and then you're gonna get the coupler itself lock. And then of course you're gonna get some keys. And I wanna point out here with these keys, there is a little magnet in here and it's gonna hold the keys in place. Once you get 'em in this box, they're not gonna be able to fall out or anything on you when they're in the case.
So I like that little bit of extra thought there in the design. So starting off with the hitch lock here, again, this is made for two-by-two-inch trailer hitch receivers. You do have a usable span here of two and 4/8th inches, and you simply insert the key. And then what you're gonna do is you're actually gonna twist this to unlock it and bear with me here. There we go, and all you gotta do is just simply twist this and you're literally twisting the end of the lock off here.
And some people say, "Well, that's kind of tedious, Steven." Well, that's the point, right It's not really that long. Takes me what 10 seconds there and I'm already locked back in. And it's a lot safer as far as anti-theft because now no one could just simply undo this, pry it in here or anything like that. And even trying to drill it out would take him forever with this hardened steel lock. So it is designed that way for a reason.
It doesn't take that long. You simply pop the cap off. Again, we're using the same set of keys, same concept. I'm twisting here, and then I can simply pull it out. And this would go through the trigger latch style or lever latch style ball coupler latch. And you have an inside usable length of two inches on this particular lock. And it's 1/4 inch diameter. And again, took me, what, 15 seconds so it didn't take that long. And then over here on the coupler lock, this is gonna go over the lip of the coupler and it's gonna make this pin right here, go up or down. When it's in your up position, I can lock it, I can unlock it, now I can slide it onto the coupler and then lock it and keep people from trying to steal the trailer whenever your trailer is not in use. And again, this works with your standard one and 7/8th or two-inch ball couplers and the maximum coupler width, including the lip of your coupler. So the outside of the lip, outside of the lip has to be a max of three and 3/4 inches. Otherwise, it's not gonna work with this particular one. We do carry these in multiple different sizes and different kits as well. So you can check 'em all here separately at etrailer. And also the maximum lip thickness needs to be 5/16th inches or less to fit into this lock. So again, folks, you're getting the hitch lock, the coupler lock, and the coupler latch lock all in one kit. And again, this is the etrailer Lock Set with case included. It is made here in the US so you're gonna get dependable gear, that's made tough right here in America. And everything as far as the coating is chrome and silver powder coat. So it's gonna resist corrosion and everything is covered as far as your key slots and everything. That way, dirt and debris and mud and stuff can't get inside of them. Looks good out of the box. Fits my trailer hitch well. Like that it is made in USA and impressed with etrailers customer service.
The hitch lock was too short to actually lock (or even hook up) in my 2 inch hitch. They took it back, but if the thing doesnt work at all, then its a one-star until that gets fixed.
The lock set is solid and fits my receiver and trailer perfectly. To unlock you have to turn the key many times as it unscrews from the shaft. It's a little time consuming but not a deal breaker.
Nice Combo at a good price. The coupler lock shaft doesn't work because the ends(locking part)is raised and will not work. I need a longer pin!
Works as advertised. Like the ease of the wedsite, especially etrailer offering the ability for keyed alike on the etrailer products. I did treat the locks with the lithium grease as recommended. I’ll know more in about three months on how they perform. etrailer customer service gets a 5 Star, the customer service was great, along with pushing the order out the door. Thank you All.
Nice to have locks with common keys to keep trailer attached to vehicle. Like the rubber caps to keep dirt/debris/water out of lock. Great purchase!
Good lock set. Locks secure trailer under a hitch cover most of the year but still works well towing with full winter exposure. Would buy again.
The coupler latch ends were to big to fit on my trailer. The pin fit but couldn't lock it
Great set to keep my trailer safe and secure! 1 word of advice, it comes with 2 keys. Put the 2nd one somewhere safe just in case you lose the first. Or keep them together and lose both and have to buy a whole new lock set. Hahaha
Receiver pin works great, nice and tight, easy to lock. Coupler pin does not fit my coupler, clearance is too tight and the large ends won't allow insertion of the pin through the coupler. May try on another trailer.
Well built good quality locks and super convenient as they are keyed alike.
Usable but in limited applications. The large ends interfere with many of our trailer hitches and mounts. Also the fact that you have to thread the end on with the key engaged is awkward.
