Video Transcript for Checking Out the Wheel Lock Set for 1/2" Wheel Bolts (2 Locks, 1 Key)

Let's go over the Redline lug nut locks. So this is gonna come in handy if you've come out to your trailer and it's on cinder blocks and your wheels are gone. So what this is gonna do is it's going to give you a very unique little lug nut which can only be loosened with this special little key that comes with it. So it's gonna be very, very difficult for somebody to get this thing off and steal your stuff. Because as of right now, it's just a 13/16 socket. Everybody's got that in their house or their shed or their toolbox.

So this is gonna be a little bit easier to do so. So let's show you how it works. Pretty much, we're just gonna put one on each side. So we just need to find the lug nut. It doesn't matter which one you do.

We just need to put it on one of the studs. And this is gonna be for your half inch lug nuts, which is a very standard size for your trailers. So you really don't have to worry about it not fitting. It's pretty much every trailer we see here has that size lug nut. So we're gonna take one off and then we're gonna have two of these.

So one is gonna go on this side and then one is gonna go on the other wheel on the other side of the trailer. So we're gonna take this and we're gonna just thread it on just like a normal lug nut. You can do it by hand like this until it gets all the way snugged up. And this is where the key comes into play because the normal socket isn't gonna do anything. It's just gonna rotate around.

And the cool thing about this key is it looks like it's symmetrical, but it actually isn't. So there's only one way that it's gonna go on there, right there. So it's very, very unique. It's gonna be very hard for someone to either have this or make one. So once we do that, we can tighten it all up. I like to tighten it all kind of by hand here. And ideally we have this kind of elevated and lift it up whenever we're torquing these down. So I just like to do it by hand and then come back here through with a torque wrench and torque it to spec. And then after that, you're done. You can use two different sockets. I'm using a 13/16 'cause it matches the lug nuts on my trailer, but you can also use a 3/4 inch socket. As of right now, our wheels and everything are taken care of but the trailer can still be hooked up to and stolen. So I recommend grabbing a wheel lock like this. This is gonna prevent it from rolling. So someone's not going to go and take your trailer out. There's one other thing to really protect the trailer to the ultimate degree. And that's just gonna be preventing them from hooking up to the coupler. There's a lot of different ways you can do it. And it just depends on what kind of coupler you have. So if you're in the locking mindset might as well search our website. We have a lot of different things to give you peace of mind, just to protect your stuff. Very simple product by Redline. Do I use 'em on my trailers Of course, why not It's a very simple product to just give you peace of mind. And that's pretty much it for a look at the chrome lug nut locks by Redline..

These locks were easy to install and the lock combination design seemed unique and hard to take off if you don't have the key. I would recommend these to anybody who has a trailer and want to secure their wheels.

Picked up 2 spare tires for this trailer from etrailer.com on the way to Phoenix, AZ. There are 2 spares on the trailer and a special paint job. Harbor freight trailer with 8 inch tires. 2011 Smart 4 2.

I built my" tool shed" on a Triton aluminum trailer. I wanted doors on three sides. I do a lot of volunteer work at a Bible camp and it involves hauling my tools to the job. The trailer had 12x 4 inch wheels and I wanted something I more substantial to carry the load. I ordered the wheels and tires from etrailer. They came on time and we're exactly what I wanted. I have purchased other items from etrailer, and highly recommend this company

Helps to secure trailer tire that has the not on it.

by:

Hunted/shopped around for the product that was originally on trailer. These are the identical locks they previous owner had on (just not the key). They measure; inside 1.138", outside 1.264". They fit perfectly on these alum wheels.

I ordered a pair of wheels along with associated items. Soon after ordering, I received a call from the folks at etrailer to say that the wheels were not in stock, but expected soon. Thereafter, I received email follow-ups, including one to indicate that the package was shipped.

These folks know how to treat customers! A great experience working with them!

You have no idea how amazingly good those new aluminum wheels look with our newly mirror-polished vintage Airstream! Enough said!!:

by:

A must for any trailer that is parked or stored outside, and not behind a secure fenced area. Easy to install and remember to write down the key code because if you lose the key tool you are in trouble. I do wish the Company would sell them in sets of four all keyed the same, as the bulk of trailers are dual axle and even for those who have single axles, you still could put more than one per wheel to slow them down.

Still have my trailer and wheels. Thank you for checking in.

by:

An absolute must if you don't want to lose your rims and tires

by:

There are enough things to think about when trailering. Worrying about theft shouldn't be one of them. Get these for your wheels. They are GREAT!

by:

I have done business with etrailer for more years than I can remember. Their products typically are best in class, and customer support sets a very high standard. It probably is a pretty large company, but I always enjoy the personal touch of what feels like a small company.

by:

Fast shipping and what appears to be the cat's meow of locking lug nuts!!

Needed some lug locks for my utility travel because of last minute travel plans. the order was processed right away, and delivery was very quick. The item I received was exactly what I was hoping for.
Thanks so much!

by:

I have to really compliment etrailer for creating a superb "solution-oriented" web site that I have repeatedly visited with outstanding success. I have already purchased an excellent tongue-lock to protect my trailer. Now, I needed something to protect theft of the wheels. These locking lug nuts were exactly what the doctor ordered. They are made very well, look nice on the trailer and offer a reasonable method to prevent theft adding more protection for it. Not only does etrailer make it simple to find a product like this, they also usually provide a an accompanying video which really helps!

  • Can the Aluminum Viking Series Valkyrie Trailer Wheel # AX02665865HDBML Handle 110 psi
Yes, the Aluminum Viking Series Valkyrie Trailer Wheel # AX02665865HDBML that you referenced will do an excellent job with 14 ply tires that require a 110 psi rating because of the metal valve stem. In fact, this wheel comes with a lifetime warranty against structural defects so you know you are getting a quality product. You may also consider using a Wheel Lock Set # RG01-150 to further protect your wheels. If you let me know what size tires you need, I can make an additional recommendation...

  • Lug Nut Lock Recommendation for 15 inch Trailer Wheel with 5 Lug Bolt Pattern
There are several different wheel stud sizes available but nearly all trailer wheels use 1/2 inch studs and a 60 degree taper which the lock kit part # RG01-150 would work well with. Especially on a 5 lug hub I can almost guarantee this is what you'd want. The hubs with more than 5 lugs can sometimes have 9/16 inch studs but you'd have 1/2 like what this would need.

  • How To Determine the Correct Size Lug Nuts For a Trailer
The three most common lug stud sizes for a trailer are 1/2"-20, 9/16"-18, and 5/8"-18. In order to make sure you get the correct lug nuts you need to measure the lug studs on the trailer now as we have no way to look this up for individual trailers. I have attached a few options based on the lug stud size below. The 1/2"-20 studs are used on small-medium duty trailers whereas the 9/16"-18 and 5/8"-18 lug studs are used on larger duty trailers. • Are Keys for Redline Wheel Lock Set Keyed Alike
Yes, they will be the same. The key is not unique to each set but is actually the same for every set. The Redline Wheel Lock Set # RG01-150 are not coded like a door lock is. Essentially, these are unique lug nuts used to make it more difficult for a would-be thief to steal because most people are not going to be carrying around the special socket to get these off. However, if they by chance do have the special socket they can remove them. Even though it's the same for all Redline locks,...

Hey Kelly, thanks for reaching out and providing photos! I actually recommend picking up the Wheel Lock Set # RG01-150 for the wheels on your Scamp trailer for a few reasons; you'll be able to still fit the hubcaps over the locks so you don't have to worry about the appearance of your trailer, and since they install directly to the wheel it's one less thing you have to have on your packing list when you go on a trip - these locks are good to go whenever you are!

  • Do Trailers have Common Wheel Lug Nut Sizes for a Wheel Lock
There are common lug nut sizes found on trailers: 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, and 5/8 but the most common is 1/2 inch. If you can tell me the trailer weight capacity and wheel size/bolt pattern I can verify if they are likely to be 1/2 inch or another size. If they are 1/2 inch we have wheel lock # RG01-150. Another option is a lock such as # WI490. With it the lug nut size won't matter. I have linked a video of this lock and included a link to the wheel locks we carry.

  • How Many Locking Lug Nuts are Recommended Per Trailer Wheel
One locking lug nut per wheel would be the most efficient way to do it. These are sold in pairs because each axle has two wheels (one per wheel). If a thief was willing to dedicate the time to defeat one locking lugnut, a second one would not make a big enough difference to convince them to stop, so it would be a bit of waste to have 2 per wheel.
