Question:
I want to make sure I can use this hitch with the hybrid version of the escape. Also, how does the installation of this hitch affect the hands free liftgate operation?

For your 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid models, you will want to use the etrailer # e89YR, which has been confirmed as a fit on your Escape Hybrid. When it comes to the operations of the hands free lift gate, we have found that in order to use this feature you will need to kick on either side of the hitch receiver, but it will still operate and allow you utilize the hands free opening of your rear cargo gate.
If you're going to be towing with your Escape Hybrid, you'll want to use the Tekonsha # TE54FR to install a 4 way connector on your vehicle to power the trailer lights. This connector tees into the plugs behind your vehicle's tail lights for an easy installation. You'll also need a ball mount and hitch ball; I recommend using the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 since it comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 hitch balls, pins, clips and a handy carrying case that will allow you to tow a variety of different trailer setups.
I've linked some informational videos on a few of these items that you may want to have a look at, as well.

2020 escape hybrid showing tongue weight of 150lbs. I have 2 bikes and the hitch totaling 270 lbs. Can a class 3 hitch be the resolution?
