The best trailer hitch for your 2023 Toyota Highlander is the Curt Hitch item # C99FR. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Toyota with included hardware. It is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 5,000 lbs towing capacity and a 500 lbs maximum tongue weight.

The reason this is the best hitch is that the entire crosstube mounts behind the rear bumper. This leaves only the 2" receiver visible, which not only looks better but helps with ground clearance. It fits both the standard and hybrid models. It also fits the XSE and non-XSE Highlanders.

If you are planning on towing you will also need a wiring harness item # C59236 if you have the factory tow package or item # C59236 if you do not and a ball mount kit item # C45534.

I also recommend using the No-Drill Mount Bracket item # 18136 and the item # C42CR to secure the 4-way connector to your hitch. This will put it in an easy to reach spot and prevent the risk of it falling onto the road.
