When your truck is working harder under tow, factory brakes can feel slower to respond. This rear brake upgrade kit pairs severe-duty pads with rotors that manage heat and deliver strong initial bite, so repeated stops stay smooth and predictable.
Adding trailer weight changes how your truck responds when you press the brake pedal, especially during sudden stops or repeated braking. These brake pads use a severe-duty, low-metallic friction formula that delivers a strong initial bite, while the matched rotors use OEM-style vanes to help manage the added heat towing creates. Together they give your truck a more immediate, predictable braking response that stays consistent through repeated stops.
Brake vibration often traces back to uneven rotor machining or inconsistent braking surfaces, especially after repeated heat cycles. The rotors use computer-controlled castings with fly-cut, mill-balanced construction and meet or exceed OE specifications for machining tolerances. A non-directional cross-hatch finish promotes even pad bed-in, helping your brake service start with uniform contact and maintain smooth pedal feel as your truck accumulates miles.
New brake components require a break-in period before they deliver their intended performance. These brake pads use positive mold manufacturing to produce consistent density and precise dimensions, then add a bed-in coating that improves initial pedal feel and shortens the break-in process. Multi-layer vulcanized rubber shims help limit the extra noise commonly associated with high-bite low-metallic pads, so your truck delivers responsive braking without unnecessary chatter.
Road spray, moisture, and winter conditions often leave exposed brake components looking rough long before the friction surface wears out. The G3000 premium raw iron rotors use an OnyxBond matte black coating on the hat, vanes, and edges to help reduce rust on exposed non-friction surfaces. Your rotors stay looking better between services without affecting braking performance.
Replacing brake rotors is a job many experienced DIYers can handle, but brakes are one of those projects where being almost right is still wrong. If you would rather leave it to a professional, find an installer near you.

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Timbren rear wheel BES brake upgrade kit. Now this kit has been designed to fit your 2024 to current Toyota Tacoma, and on custom fit parts such as this kit, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer. Pop in the year, make, and model of your vehicle and our picket will confirm if this kit will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now, upgrading the suspension of your truck will improve the ride quality. It's going to help reduce the sag when you're hauling heavier loads and it's going to make your truck feel more stable when you're towing or hauling.
However, it does not help with the extra workload that's being placed on your factory brakes. Now if you've ever felt like your truck is taking longer to stop when you're towing a heavy trailer, or maybe your brakes are wearing out faster than you've expected them to, or that added weight is making your braking feel less confident, that's where this BES brake upgrade kit is going to come into play. This kit is designed to give your truck stronger, more consistent braking when it's carrying those heavier loads. These low metallic onyx bike brake pads are going to give you a strong initial bite and eliminate brake fade that occurs with frequent stopping when towing. So you're going to notice more confident, consistent braking performance on every road trip.
On the other side here, we have these multi-layered rubber shims that are going to help stabilize the brake pads during braking, ultimately reducing vibration. On your screen, I've got a photo there showing you just a close up view of the construction of the multi-layer design of the shim. And so it's going to keep the brake noise to a minimum without sacrificing braking performance. So these positive molded pads paired with these precision balance rotors are going to promote smooth, even braking and more consistent pedal feel. Now looking at these rotors, these are OEM style vented rotors that are going to help dissipate heat during repeated stops to reduce brake fade when towing.
And these are a premium G3000 raw iron rotors. They feature Timbren's OnyxBond matte black coating on the hat, veins, and outer edges. As you know, heat is the enemy of brakes. So this OnyxBond coating is going to have a heat threshold up to 932 degrees Fahrenheit, which is about 67% better than the standard GEOMET coating that most commonly, that's most commonly used on OEM parts. This coating's also going to help protect these rotors from rust caused by road spray, moisture, and winter driving, keeping your brakes looking cleaner between surfaces without affecting braking performance.
The pads also feature a bed end coating indicated by the blue stripes that we have here on the pads. That's going to transfer to the rotors to protect them during those first stops. So you're going to be able to enjoy consistent braking performance sooner after the installation. This includes everything that you see here. Insulation's going to be relatively straightforward, but if you're not too excited about installing these yourselves, on this product page underneath the photo section, we have a link that will take you to our installer locator. Click that link, answer the questions that it has for you, and that locator will find an installer in your area that etrailer has partnered with to help you with the install. Well, that's going to wrap up our look today. Again, my name's Andy, thank you for joining me.
