Curt Hitch that Fits 2020 Toyota Highlander Platinum

Hi, Will this Hitch work on the the Platinum trim? I have information that the Platinum will have some issue with the liftgate sensor when install the Hitch. Thank you

The Curt hitch part # C99FR is confirmed as a fit for all models of the 2020 Toyota Highlander including the Platinum trim you mentioned. With this installed you'd have to kick to either side of the hitch opening to activate the hands free liftgate but it will still function.

Hands free liftgate does not function at all after this hitch receiver installation on Platinum trim. The hitch receiver works and looks great so.

I'm really sorry to hear this. The factory liftgate sensors aren't always located in the same exact spot, so they can be a little hit-and-miss sometimes with regards to interference with a trailer hitch. You might be able to relocate the sensors (contact your local Toyota dealer) if you really want to maintain this function.

@ChrisR There is no way to relocate sensor, if moved it just will not work at all. has to be aimed properly and at the right distance.

About this time, I’ve heard so much about the 2020 highlander platinum , it’s become very frustrating and so unreal. My objective was to find out what trailer hitch will fit the highlander platinum. After I ordered a curt 13453 from 2 different dealers that the hitch in theory will fit The highlander. The dealers cancelled on the orders due to non-available.. Tomorrow I am going to try Etrailer with the C99fr. The Toyota dealership wants $1000 to install who knows what. I don’t trust the dealership as I’ve learn at a 74 year old man. Wish me luck, if not I can trade my 2020 for a 2019.

The Curt # C99FR is the right hitch for your 2020 Highlander Platinum. Honestly a local mechanic/shop with a decent reputation will be able to handle this install without issue. I would definitely call around before relying on the dealership.

Hi, I just installed the Curt Hitch on my 2020 Highlander platinum. I also got the plug and play wiring harness. However there is no power going to the wire plug checked the fuses and everything looks good. The installer sugested that maybe the feature needs to be enabled by the dealership??? Have you seen this ? thanks

It actually looks like there is a converter part PT725-48200 from Toyota that is needed in order for the wiring to work properly.

@JonG , you are correct. I have it on order ... looks like it is a pain to install too. FYI ... my kick sensor still works, but its a bit trickier to activate. cheers
