Just installed the 4th Hitch Receiver I've installed from Curt (Hyundai Santa Fe, Subaru Forester, GMC Terrain, and most recently, an Acura RDX). Every installation was perfectly fitted with good instructions and all the hardware I needed.
First thing to know. You do not need to remove/lower muffler to install hitch.
This hitch is stout and nicely made. It is glossy, compared to matte on other brands. Install was fairly easy, power tool helps. I would recommended threading the bolts into the holes first to make sure they can go in easily.
When installed, the hitch is not hidden... it protrudes out the back a little. But looks good.
Great price. Shipping was fast. Box was broken as everyone said, but the hitch itself was fine.
Box came destroyed and the box was open. Of course the hitch was inside the box but the hardware is missing. There are a couple of scratches but no real damage to the hitch. Question will you resend me the hardware?

Hi Scott, the vast majority of the time this is caused by road grime/corrosion getting built up in the treads of the nuts that are pre-welded into the frame member. I'd recommend soaking the threads down with a spray lubricant like WD40 and giving them a good scrub with a wire brush (like the kind used to clean battery terminals). You might need to do this a few times, but once the threads are good and clean you should be able to install the bolts with no difficulty. Please let us know how it goes!

The instructions say you have to remove the spare to install the hitch, but it does not tell you that once the hitch is installed you cannot reinstall the spare.
The slots in the hitch that correspond to the holes/nuts in the chassis were too short. I had to extend the slots by about 3/16 to be able to get them in.
The flanges that fit inside the chassis were too wide to allow the hitch to fit in between the anchoring locations. I had to use a hand sledge to bend them so it would fit.
All in all a bad experience. For something that should have taken 30 mins to install, it took nearly 90 minutes and resulted in my losing my spare tire!!!

This fits with factory temporary spare tire which is normally 18 inches. The other issue sounds like flex which can be fixed with the tips in this article:

I’m giving the Curt hitch 5 star this time. Yes it has happen to me twice on 2 different purchases. Back in 21 the hitch had to be replaced and the second was good. Same thing happen again and had to send another back but this time was all good. The finish was all good and not all scratches.

Installed on 2022 Acura RDX. The construct of the hitch required removing the muffler from the hangers to fit the hitch assembly past them. A little difficult for a do-it-yourselfer, but do-able. Fits tightly. Extends out from the vehicle a little more than desired.
Received in damaged boxed with the hitch hanging out of the box. Could have been packaged better and I'm sure handled better by UPS. The hitch frame was scratched but not damaged and did not hinder the install.
I just installed my new Curt trailer hitch receiver last night on my 2022 Acura RDX A-spec. Installation was straight forward and didn't have to lower the exhaust. The hitch was delivered fast and with no damage. Plan on using the hitch for a hitch mounted bike rack. It seems well made and really like the gloss finish as it matches the lower bumper gloss black on my RDX. Great product and service!

Ive had the hitch on for a year and it has been excellent. Its holding up well, no issues. I recommend this hitch, very good quality.
Installed Hitch on 2022 Acura RDX Advance package with factory installed spare tire. This is the second hitch I have purchased and installed from etrailers. Shipping was fast, but as many others have said box arrived with portions of the hitch exposed outside of the box. Hitch had several scratches in powder coat which I covered with spray gloss paint. Reason for 1 star removal.
Hitch was fairly easy to install after removing spare tire and dropping the 2 driver side exhaust hangers as there was just not enough room to get hitch into place over the muffler otherwise. A second set of hands is best to position hitch and get bolts started without cross threading. Factory spare tire fits after hitch - it is a very tight fit against the receiver but it does fit. I have not tried the hands free tailgate sensor, as never used it so wasn't worried about it. (lesson learned, turn it off in the car settings so you don't keep opening and closing the tailgate while installing the hitch!)
Hitch extends 2.5" from the bumper, but as the back of the hitch receiver is up against the spare there is no way to have it extend less. The OEM option uses a new bumper trim piece which hides some of the extension. I was OK with the look as dealer wanted nearly $1,500 for parts and labor. Images show dimensions, including dimension to the spare at the top of the receiver.
Works great for our bike rack. Install was super easy. The install videos are spot on!
Very happy with product . Only issue was packaging, was delivered with four points of hitch sticking out order box causing a deep scratch . I know it’s just a scratch but I like new to be new . Thanks

Hitch receiver is good, packaging less than par. The product should have more/better protection so that it does not break through the box and get scratched. If it wasn't going under my vehicle I would have returned it..and I figured a replacement would come the same way.

Hitch was installed on a 2025 Acura RDX. The unit fits perfectly. The 18 inch spare tire fits just fine. Had to remove exhaust muffler hangers on driver’s side and pull muffler to the side in order to get the hitch into the space. Overall an easy process once I bought an exhaust hanger removal tool. Took two people a little over an hour to install. Would not be an easy job for one person.
Self-installed on 2023 Acura RDX A-spec (sh-AWD). No spare tire to worry about. Didn't have to drop the exhaust. Ample room to work under vehicle. Bolted on as designed. Using for bike carrier. Took me almost 2 hrs to do by myself, but I am not very handy at these types of things - so if I can do it, just about anyone can do it. Need torque wrench to get tightened down properly. Tough to lift up in place and insert bolts by yourself, but with another set of hands (or floor jack), probably not so bad.
Very well-made product - looks super nice. Poor boxing as others mentioned, but didn't harm it at all. Very satisfied with speed of order,price, delivery, communication, information, photos and videos from your company. A-1 all around in my book!! Would definitely purchase again.
