Install pic (as viewed from passenger side) & notes on my 2025 Jeep Wrangler Sport S 4 door w/ OEM bumper.
1. Loosen (2) 10mm bolts at bottom of bumper.
2. I did not lower the exhaust.
3. Remove (2) long 18mm bolts & washers from frame. Nuts remained fastened to metal bumper center bracket (good thing).
4. Slide hitch receiver into position between the center bracket and frame.
5. Install the (2) long 18mm bolts and washers. (Do not tighten yet)
6. Install the new (2) long 19mm bolts, nuts and washers that came with the hitch receiver.
7. Torque bolts to specs.
8. Tighten the (2) 10mm bolts at bottom of bumper.
Side note: My torque wrench only goes to 75-foot pounds or 101 newton meters, but I needed to brace myself against the tire and use my leg to get at 75.
The installation on my 2026 Jeep Wrangler went very well. The hitched fit nicely to the frame and didn't require any hammering to get it in place. I encountered the issue where the position of the muffler would not allow me to insert two of the four bolts. I didn't drop the muffler or use smaller bolts as others suggest, instead I used a flat wood board (1x4) as a lever to pull down slightly on the muffler. No more than a 1/2" of movement was all it took to get the bolts in. Because the muffler has rubber mounts, there was enough play in them to make this work and the wide flat board didn't dent the muffler. I had to do a little filing on two holes to get the bolts completely through, but not much.
The receiver hitch fits perfectly. The extra length made my bike rack clear the spare tire .
BETTER THAN FACTORY for my 2026 Wrangler Rubicon X because it extends out to the back further which allows for easier access when connecting a trailer, changing hitch inserts, and even flying a parade flag so it doesn't hit the spare tire!
One NOTE: The inboard factory mounting hole for the electrical connectors has a nut plate in the frame that is covered up by this hitch. I recommend manufacture drill a 1/2" access hole to allow mounting of the factory electrical connector. See pictures below.
1st picture: The bolt that is circled is the one I had to drill a 1/2" access hole in the e-tailer hitch in order to mount the electrical connector in the stock location.
2nd picture: After the hitch was installed, i put shackles on for the chains.
Perfect fit for 2025 2 door Jeep Wrangler. Nothing to remove and no modifications needed. Simply unpack and bolt in through the existing holes in the frame using the supplied hardware. Nice and solid! One thing to note is that depending on what you intend to use it for (like a bike rack), you may not clear the rear spare tire if you have one. I used an extension with a 2" drop that solved that issue and also allows me to fully open my tailgate.
Perfect fit and was easy to install, working as should with no issues holding bike rack and hitch basket.
As always ETrailer delivers excellent products & spot on delivery
The easiest hitch i wver installed
Heavily built, welds were nice, painted perfectly. Large safety chain eyes.
Great customer service team
I have been buying hitches and other towing accessories from Etrailer for more than 15 years and their how to videos are great. They ship fast and the vast brands they offer make it easy for buyers
Etrailer’s prices are very competitive
Purchased for my 2 door JL. The first 3 bolts fit perfectly but the 4th was a little too big so I ran down to Home Depot and picked up a 12mm which fit perfectly. Outside of that assembly was a breeze. Not need to remove muffler as stated in instructions. 10/10 would recommend.

It looks like you nailed it, Patrick! Thanks for sending in a photo :) What will you use the hitch for?

This is a terrific hitch with a high rating. The only hiccup is that it overlaps with the factory 7-pin harness. I was able to drill a couple new holes and make this work, I just wish Curt had considered this during development.
Hi,
I’m trying to install this hitch but when I went under, I saw these two screws (see attached). I’m not sure what it is and if it’s ok to remove, install the hitch and put it back. I have a 2018 JL Rubicon unlimited.
Please advise

I spoke with my representative in the tech services department at Curt Manufacturing and was told that its perfectly acceptable to remove the 2 bolts shown in the photos you provided and substituting them with the bolts provided with the hitch.
fast order processing and delivery. this part bolted in in under 30 minutes. this is a class III vs class II which some of the other bolt on hitches are. it is made with heavy/thick steal. i would recommend this receiver if you are looking to add one to you 2025 Jeep wrangler.
Great qualifications, easy install. I have a Jeep JL wrangler Sahara so the outside bolts were already present with the welded on nuts.on a plate behind the cross member. Just lightly pries out the plate, Slipped the hitch between it and the cross member. And threaded the bolts tbrough. Use the original bolts as they are a different thread and head size.
Wonderful quality and great finish. No grinding, pounding, or retrofitting needed. Slipped right in.
Had to install 2” drop extender to be able to open the tailgate and it came out great.

Keep in mind, installing any extender will lower the tongue weight capacity of the hitch listed on ID sticker affixed to hitch by half.
Haven't tried to install but it looks as advertised. Took a month to arrive.
Great product . Arrived sooner than expected . Easiest installation I’ve ever done. Hold up and bolt on, did not need to remove muffler.

Looks great on your Jeep! Where are you headed with the bikes?
Easy to install. Made in USA!
great customer service. I needed a trailer hitch that was a little out of the ordinary. Etrailer told me what i needed to know. In fact they were the only people who would talk to me. The manufacturer, Curt would not give me any dimensions of there hitches. All they would say is "our hitches are designed to fit a particular vehicle". Maybe that's a CYA policy?
Also best price and speedy shipment.
Thanks guys
In the photo the hitch is just sitting on top of the bumper. I have yet to mount it.
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4dr installed easily & quicly as designed and promissed. Has functioned perfectly and looks great too!!
Quality product delivered on time! Excellent service.
Perfect fit with the tow capacity that I was needing. Great product.

Thanks for taking the time to give such a detailed review and POV of your install experience. A few weeks ago I installed a hitch on Mazda that needed 70 foot pounds and it was a struggle to that last bit down. Pretty good form to use your leg for that last push! What are you going to be using the hitch for?
