Hello A.B.,
For you to be able to use the 16x38 rucRak Cargo Carrier w/ Tailgate Table for Jeep Wrangler JL - 2" Hitches # RU34FR you would need to upgrade your 1 1/4" receiver to a 2" receiver, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13392 would be a great fit!
I couldn't find any information on if an adapter could be used or not, so I reached out to our friends at rucRak, they informed me that you cannot use an adapter with this product because the adapter will not allow the hitch T-bar that comes with the rucRak to be adjustable. So it will not work. Plus any adapter is going to cut your tongue weight in half as well.
You will have a lot more choices for accessories if you go ahead and switch to the 2" receiver.
Did the hitch come with the Jeep, or is it an aftermarket one?
