Question:

Which wiring harness would you recommend for a 2025 Jeep Wrangler Sport S Unlimited that is plug and play. Only need a 4 pin. Using in conjunction with your E99856 trailer hitch. Thanks in advance for your assistance !

Hello Mike,

Happy to get you the right wiring. I looked up the hitch number you mentioned the E99856 and I am not seeing that we have that in our system. In fact I do not see an etrailer branded hitch for your 2025 Jeep Wrangler Sport S Unlimited. So for the hitch I would go with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13392.

For the wiring you will want the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118786. Don't forget to grab a # 18140 and # 18144 for a clean looking install.

If you plan on doing some light towing and don't have a ball mount already, check out our etrailer Ball Mount w/ Pre-Torqued 2" Ball - 2" Hitch - 2" Drop - 7,500 lbs # e67DR. I really like that our ball comes in a black nickel plating, gives it a nice sleek look.

What do you plan on using the hitch for? Trailer, camper, bike rack, etc?

Kate, thanks for your response and recommendations. I had the trailer hitch part number wrong, it’s e98856. Has a higher towing rating and tongue weight than the Curt. I’ll be sure to order the wiring harness and mount that you recommend as well…Mike

@WilliamB Yes, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98856 will be a great fit. It wasn't showing up in my fitguide at the moment because we are out of stock, but it does look like we should be able to get it to you around July 8th. If you have any other questions, you know where to find us =)

@Rick Sorry to hear you are having issues with the # 118786 after you got it installed. Here are some things to look over: First, the wiring harness has a power wire that runs to your Jeep’s battery and includes a little fuse holder. If that fuse is blown or not connected well, the trailer lights might still work when the engine is off, but not when it’s running. So take a look at that fuse, make sure it’s not burned out and that all the connections are tight and clean. Next, check the ground wire (it’s the white one). It needs to be attached to clean, bare metal, no paint, dirt, or rust. A weak ground connection can cause everything to shut off when more power is needed (like when the engine starts). Make sure that wire is screwed down tight to a solid spot on the vehicle’s metal frame. Another thing that can help is using a multimeter like # PT89ZR. You can check to see if the wiring is still getting good power when the engine is running. Sometimes, the wiring might lose voltage if there’s a bad connection, and that can cause the trailer lights to stop working. Were you able to already get the issue resolved? If so, what was it? If you try those things and it is still not working please let me know so we can dive a little deeper.
