Video Transcript for Review of Tow Ready No Drill Mount Bracket - 18136

Today, we're going to take a look at the Tow Ready Long, No-Drill Mount Bracket for your vehicle end. Now, this bracket is designed to secure electrical connector on the back of your vehicle by your trailer hitch receiver, instead of just having your electrical connector, hanging down and getting damaged. This will attach to a square cross tube design trailer hitch I happened to pull in here just to demonstrate how this connects. It does come with this bracket, will come with this included hose clamp that holds it to the hitch. There's no drilling required, and it comes with the mounting hardware and install your electrical connector bracket to it. This is a nice powder coated steel construction. And basically what you end up doing is you notice it has a 90 degree bend on it.

So what you would do is just put this onto the top of the square tube and then just take your hose clamp, run it through around the square tube and then back through the clamp and then just tighten it down with a screw and it'll hold it into place.Again no drilling is required. It does give you the mounting brackets to attach your electrical bracket to. Now it will work with most 4-Way, 5-Way, 6-Way and 7-Way mounting brackets will attach to this. Now on the product page for this part number, it will list the part numbers of some of those brackets that'll work with this mount bracket. Now for this review, I've happened to pull a 7-Way bracket.

This is part number 118138 just to show you how this bracket all attached to the no-drill. You can see there's two holes here up at the top, and they have the holes here on the top here. You just line those holes up, use the included screws and attach it just like that. And then you'll install your connector right in here, the 7-Way on this one.Now it can be installed on the top of the hitch, just like this I'm showing you. If it ends up being too tall, he can see that when you do attach this, it is a little bit higher than your trailer hitch.

If that's going to be a little too tall, which you could end up doing, is you could put it on the underside and then the same way, run your hose clamp through there, tighten it down that way, and then that way it would lower it a little bit. So just depends on your application, which would work the best. Few dimensions on the bracket itself. The length of it, it's going to be right at six and a half inches. The width of it is right at three inches.

But that should do it for the review on the Tow Ready Long, No-Drill Mount Bracket for your vehicle end.

Great item - saved me from drilling directly into the hitch. The threaded clamp clicks out of the way to quickly feed the bulk of the wire through, then click it back into position and use a drill with socket attachment to tightly secure it. Rock solid install.

Yep, got the package yesterday, and it's perfect. It's exactly what I should have ordered in the first place. Even with the long bracket, the space between the back of the plug and the hitch looks like it's gonna be a little tight, but I think I can make it work just fine. I have everything I need now to get this completed, and to do it so it's a professional grade result. Now I just have to get out there and do it... when it warms up a bit more. Re: the returned item.... I checked with USPS and it would have cost me more than the RMA label you provided to use UPS. So I just used the label you sent me. UPS tracking indicates it arrived there last Friday. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help. You made getting this right a very simple and easy breezy deal.

A year out and working like a champ!

This “long” mount bracket was the recommended part according to etrailer’s video for the installation of a hitch and wiring harness with mount for the four pin connector for my 2021 Ford Escape. I also bought the hitch and wiring harness etrailer used and recommended in the videos. The hitch and wiring harness were great, but the “long” no drill mount bracket was waaaaay to long and looked ridiculous. I ended up buying the “short” bracket and I am very happy with the way that looks. Hopefully this might help anybody else that is doing an install on a 2020/2021 Ford escape. Buy the short bracket. I don’t know why each trailer ever recommended the long because it wasn’t the better option.

There was no convenient place to install the 7-Way connector, so I elected to go with the No Drill Mount Bracket, Long (#18136). It is necessary to use the long bracket, due to the length of the 7-Way connector, but I wasn't pleased with how far it made the connector stick out the back of the vehicle. I used a bench grinder to notch the long bracket, and secured it under the rear mounting bolt of the receiver. This tucked the 7-Way connector under the bumper where it is out of the way from physical damage.

- 18136
by:

The universal mounting bracket installed without a problem. My rounded hitch posed a slight problem for this model, though. I ended up placing a zip-tie to the backside of the bumper to try to keep it from falling down. Otherwise, it is still working great one year in even with deeper-than-average snow last winter.

Great idea, Adam! As Plato said, necessity is the mother of invention, and you definitely problem-solved on this one! Since your pictures show a 4-way and 7-way connector, you could also use the Curt Easy Mount Bracket for 2-inch hitches Item C58000. This slips over your Curt 2-inch receiver and does not require drilling, either. Thanks again for sharing!

I really love this bracket. I put a wrap of rubber around the hitch bar to keep it in place

- 18136

I had to bend this with my bench vice to make it work with my 2021 hyudai palisade and new hidden curt hitch but besides that it was sturdy and easy to install.

- 18136

Bracket was fine. Included "universal" clamp was too small to fit around my trailer hitch so I had to purchase a larger one to use the bracket. Shipping was incredibly slow for an item that came from just a few states away. I believe it took almost 10 days. I've purchased other items coming from the same region that have arrived in 48 hrs or less. Overall bracket works but don't be in a hurry for it and the included universal mounting hardware may not work for your application.

Works great. I had to cut it down to fit my Honda CRV with a grinder. After cutting it down, I recommend getting some black paint to keep it from rusting.

Purchased this to support the receptacle in the 7-way ETBC7 kit for a 2010 Honda Odyssey. I was initially skeptical that it would grab securely onto a round hitch pipe (Hidden Hitch) but it does. In the picture, readers can see that I intentionally installed this 18136 bracket "upside down". There are two reasons: (1) Aftermarket hitch receivers ride fairly low on Odysseys and occasionally mine will scrape the road if there is a steep grade change. Not a big deal, but I did not want the ETBC7 receptacle to scrape the ground and be damaged. This way, the 18136 bracket might scrape, but the receptacle will be protected. (2) Mounting upside down also raises the ETBC7 about an inch, so that it is not hanging lower than the hitch receiver. I also mounted the ETBC7's bracket "backwards". This sets the receptacle a tad inside the profile of the bumper, so that if a shopping cart or something hits the bumper it will be less likely to impact the receptacle. Very pleased with this part, it's sturdier than it looks and gives the ETBC7 a solid platform when you can't or don't want to mount directly into the bumper of your vehicle.

Good quality bracket, but the clamp is lacking…a standard stainless hose clamp would work more reliably

- 18136
by:

Product is well made. I like that it had the dimensions on your website. I checked my application and knew that the shorter version would be too short so I went with this one knowing it may be a little long. After I received it and checked it was a little too long so I made a bracket to clamp it on the tow bar. Everything worked out well and it very sturdy.

- 18136
by:

I bought the long bracket since I planned on adding a couple of bends to it. The bracket is something like 12 ga. steel so I had a metal shop make the bends. The picture shows how it mounted on the 2-1/2 in. square tube crossmember. I was very pleased with the result. Just make sure you have adequate clearance for the square tube when you make the bends if you mount it this way. Otherwise you'll have to throw it away and start over.

I installed on my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee within 5 minutes.I've searched many websites, and this one offers the best price, with cheap shipping and handling. I received the product in perfect condition, in what seems like 3 days after placing the order. The mounting bracket is very sturdy, and doesn't seem like it will bend or break, unless you purposely try to. I will highly recommend this to anyone.

Good product. Installed it on 08 Odyssey Reese class lll trailer hitch. Make sure to get the 6.5" bracket when installing larger connectors such as 7 way in order to fit the wiring harness. I'm also impressed with the customer service.. very knowable, helpful and friendly. Looking forward doing business here again soon. Thanks Etrailer

- 18136

This worked perfectly on my 2020 Hyundai Palisade. I test fitted the bracket, marked it at the cross member for the hitch, and used my vise to bend it about 35-40 degrees.

- 18136
by:

Simple product, but u need to bend it, as shown in the video, if you are using it on the palisade, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to use that metal clamp band.

- 18136
by:

Perfect for mounting the breakaway switch and air connection on my 2021 Dodge Ram rv towing setup . The bumper proper is several inches from the best metal mounting spot so this did the trick perfectly .

Quality and ease of installing was great As you can see I did modify a little to make it look like it was factory installed for the wife

If there is a body panel or bumper that you can drill into nearby then that would be a better option than drilling into the hitch but the best option is a no-drill bracket like the No-Drill Mount Bracket part # 18136...
