Question:
I am considering purchasing a trailer hitch for my brother for a present. He has a 1999 Dodge Dakota Sport with a 6 foot bed. I just want to ensure that if i order the product listed below that it would fit. I have had issues ordering for the truck before and I just want to check. The item I was looking at was: Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2inch - 1999 Dodge Dakota Thank you for your time and help.

Curt actually offers two different Class III hitches for the 1999 Dodge Dakota. The Curt # C13280 features a square crossbar tube that will be concealed behind the truck's bumper. The only visible portion of the hitch would be the receiver tube right under the back bumper. The Curt # C13145 uses a round tube crossbar, most of which would be visible from behind the vehicle. Both hitches would install in the same manner, as you can see from the instructions I'll link to, and both hitches have an identical weight capacity.
If your brother will be towing with the hitch, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness and a ball mount, pin and clip, and the appropriately-sized trailer ball. The wiring harness is part # 118329 (see linked install video), the ball mount is part # C45030 and for a trailer ball, use part # 63845 for a 2 inch ball or # 19260 for a 1-7/8 ball.
Both hitches are indeed a fit, I have confirmed that by phone with Curt.
