Question:
This vehicle is displayed at car shows, so I am concerned regarding how much hitch shows beneath the rear factory step bumper. Also, as I understand, the hitch is initally hunginch from the upper rear bumper bracket bolts followed by using the hitch as a template to drill 1/2 inch holes in the lower frame rails. The bumper and spare tire do not have to be removed normally, but I have 2 1/2 inch dual exhausts inboard of the frame rails which will probably complicate this? Does the C55329 wire harness include the back up light wire?

The trailer hitch I recommend for your 1994 Dakota with the least visibility is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # C13145.
This trailer hitch is designed with the receiver tube even with the horizontal bar of the hitch. Most hitches have the receiver tube welded below the bar, making it more visible. None of the aftermarket hitches will be completely hidden as they are mounted below the truck frame but this hitch is the least visible of the hitches we offer.
If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
None of the 4-way wiring harnesses we offer like part # C55329 have the backup light feature. You would need a 5-way connector to have the reverse light function. The adapter I recommend is part # 20036.
