Question:
I just bought a used pop up camper with a 7 pin connection and electric brakes. Im going to be pulling it with a 2005 Dodge Dakota ST Quad Cab 3.7 l V-6 without the tow package. Im trying to find out if there is an all in one kit i can install, or if i need to buy individual parts/Wiring harnesses and splice into a 7 pin connector? Will Item # 22551 get me everything I need minus the brake controller? Thanks!

The 7-way kit part # 22551 could work for you to give you a functional 7-way but there's an easier way that's more plug and play for your 2005 Dodge Dakota.
So you have to start with a 4-way which for that we have the custom fit Curt kit part # 55323 which is a confirmed fit and installs easily by plugging inline with your taillight connectors. Next you'll need to convert this to a 7-way which I have a really easy solution for that as well.
So the easiest to install brake controller that also works really well is the Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180. Basically this just plugs into an active 7-way and once you sync it to your phone it's ready to go. This brake controller is proportional which means it senses the amount of deceleration your tow vehicle is applying and applies the trailer brakes in a relative way.
To convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller only requires the 7-way adapter kit part # ETBC7L. The 4-way of this plugs into the 4-way of your vehicle and once you run the included wiring and breaker up to the vehicle's positive battery post it's active enough to allow the Echo to function. This saves you from having to hardwire in a brake controller which requires tapping into the brake signal of your vehicle and running a few other wires too.
