This Curt Class I hitch receiver gives you a sturdy 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" opening rated for 2,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight. It’s perfect for small trailers, utility loads, or a lightweight camper. The square-tube design provides dependable strength while keeping weight low, so you get solid performance without overbuilding for jobs you’ll never do.
Whether you’re carrying bikes to the trail or adding a cargo tray for extra storage, this receiver is designed for accessories built for Class I hitches. The fit keeps everything tight and stable, which helps when you’re driving over uneven ground or up steep driveways. It’s a simple way to add real utility without changing how your car drives.
You won’t need special tools or a shop lift. The precision robotic-welded construction lines up with existing mounting points, and it bolts on using the included hardware. No drilling or welding required. That means you can handle the install yourself in an afternoon using common tools from the garage.
The fully welded steel frame is finished with a gloss black powder coat over a protective base layer to fight rust and road grime. This coating also keeps it looking clean under the bumper. The design keeps most of the cross tube tucked away for a low-key appearance that blends in instead of standing out.

Hitch fit perfect on our 2018 Audi A4. Pretty simple installation, even doing it by yourself. Hitch installation directions are decent but the pictures are dark. With that said, they get you in the right direction and is self explanatory once you start and progress. The only negative, 1/2” carriage bolts that go through the trunk pan seem to be a little longer than they could be and are kinda obvious from behind the vehicle.
I'm excited to have the Curt Trailer Hitch on my 2023 Audi A4 sport sedan. Now I can go anywhere I want with my bike and enjoy the ride! Thank you!!!
I ordered the Curt hitch from etrailer when my local shop couldn’t find one in stock. It shipped almost immediately and arrived in a few days. In addition to being able to actually get the hitch and have it installed quickly, ordering from etrailer saved me over a $100 in the process. Thanks, guys!
Installation on a 2023 Audi A4 was done by a mechanic. The mechanic was required to make a new hole(s) in the undercarriage -- installation was too long ago to recall the specifics. My takeaway -- it wasn't really a huge problem, but installation of this receiver on this model A4 is not completely 'easy' / straightforward. But it was accomplished without damage/risk and I am happy with it. My mechanic was respectful/careful b/c it was a brand new car -- I wouldn't have done it with a less trustworthy shop.
The design is very good. I especially like the low profile that is visible. The installation instructions were easy to follow. Note the hitch will disable the "kick to open" trunk sensor if you have one. The price compared to the dealer is excellent. I've used it for my bike racks for a year now. I'm disappointed that paint has started to peel away at the lip to the receiver already (see picture).
Excellent hitch, it fits the 2018 S5 perfect, thank you
I bought this for a 2017 Audi A4 Allroad. Using it for a hitch mount bicycle carrier, so I can't give any input on towing. Self installation involved driving the rear wheels up a ramp, you will need the vertical space for installation. Only issues with installation was it was somewhat difficult to place the outside bolts on the brace bars, as there is not a lot of clearance for the 4" bolt to drop down.
Also, the 5.5" width cut per the instructions for the hitch to hang down is too wide for the Allroad. About 4" is enough. All in, it took me one and a half hours for the installation.
As far as holding the bike tray and bike, it does a the job. I use a Saris Superclamp EX 2 and along with the bikes, is not close to the 200 lbs. tongue weight limit.
I'm using the hitch for a bike rack, wouldn't pull a trailer with the S5.
Instructions were accurate and I installed it myself in an afternoon. Just be careful and remove the cable for the foot sensor in the rear diffuser before cutting the clearance slot in it. Instructions not too clear on that and I cut my cable accidently.
Cutting that slot in the rear diffuser was a bit stressful, it has to have clearance for the hitch receiver. Slot is not visible from the rear of the car but I know it's there and it would cost big bucks to replace that piece of plastic!
One year on snd still great. Install went just as they said. Getting the U bolts around the frame takes some finagling, so having it on a lift was a blessing.
fast shipping
Well it was not horrible to install. Audi leaves a lot of sharp plastic under the car. For install on the mild hybrid A5 you need to relocate the battery vent. I move it to a new hole just rear of its original location.
I had watched a video of the installation on my exact model, so I felt fairly confident. I backed the car onto ramps which gave me enough room to do the install without help. I think it will work great for my needs.
Easy installation on a 2019 S5 Sportback. As other reviews found, not exactly the same directions as the ones provided for an A4 but easy to figure out. Main differences were the subwoofer in the spare box and the mesh covering that covers the drains. 1.5 hours... Do it with the exhaust cooled down, you reach up over the exhausts....
Suggest you get the optional strap for hauling bikes. I can’t imaging pulling a trailer with the S of course.
Hitch is heavy duty to fulfill the load specs. Also is adequately layered with rust prevention coatings. For a Class 1 hitch I was very impressed.
Also, installation videos and instructions were very user friendly. No complaints here. Good job.
Very easy to install and came in a reasonable time. The only thing I didn’t like was it didn’t come with 2” receiver so I had to get a 1-1/4” to 2” adapter so it cost me a bit more. Also caused my tounge to stick out an extra foot so my hitch was pretty far out. It worked all in all and would recommend it
Easiest hitch I've installed. This is the 4th one from etrailer.. Installation took about 35 minutes on my 2017 A4 Prestige.. the only modification I made to the install was my horizontal cut was only 3" (the with of the crossbar) instead of the recommended 5".. made it look cleaner/more pro. I also was able to install by myself thanks to install video explaining that installing the trunk bolts first and using them to hold the hitch in place while threading the bumper bracket nuts. Highly recommend this setup for anyone looking to add a hitch to their A4..
Spent the afternoon installing this Curt hitch on my 2018 S5 Sportback
Part:
C11448 Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4"
The install is not too bad, It connects to the sturdy rear bumber frame using U bracket
It does exactly what I needed, the price was good and the customer service was excellent. Arrived when promised which was a quick turnaround from order to delivery. I highly recommend etrailer.

It’s been a year since I purchased this hitch. It works fine, allows me to carry 4 bikes without anything touching my vehicle, and is exactly what I wanted and hoped for. Very happy with my purchase and with trailer’s service. I stand by my prior recommendation fully.
Install was for a 2017 Audi Allroad. Overall a good hitch for the price now that it is installed. I wanted to note a few things for Allroad owners that wasn't covered too much in other reviews or the A4 sedan install video. First - once the spare has been removed, the Allroad has a felt liner you will need to cut through in order to access the drain holes (see photo). Second - and this differs from another reviewer that installed on an Allroad, but there was simply no way for me to slide the u-bolt (bar and bolts) over the bumper support with the bumper loosened as shown in the video. After trying for a good 30 minutes, I had to wind up watching the other etrailer video for the hidden hitch install and remove the bumper all the way in order to get the u-bolts to fit in. It worked, but definitely took more time. Third - the instructions are written for the A4 sedan. I followed them and the recommendations of other reviewers and cut 4" wide instead of the 5" plus the instructions recommend. That was fine. However, the Allroad bumper comes down a bit further and the 2" deep was not enough once I actually got the hitch installed and went to fasten the lower bumper screws back on. I wound up cutting approx. 1" extra for just the receiver portion with the hitch in place and a sharp knife. Not thrilled about that, but unless you are directly under the car you dont see it (see photo). Doing it again, I would recommend adding just under an 1" extra to the depth of the cut for that part. Forth - as covered in the QA for this product, there is a plastic strap of some sort that needs to come before accessing the drain plugs on the Allroad (see photo). It's quite lightweight and easy to remove, and I do agree with the Etrailer answer that the hitch installed sees to make up for this removal. Other than those issues on install, it's been a good addition to my Allroad.
i WENT THROUGH A COUPLE OF LOCAL DEALERS AND NO ONE REALLY KNEW WHAT i NEEDED.
i CALLED THESE PEOPLE AND THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT MY PROBLEM WAS. THEY SENT THE CORRECT HITCH AND i GOT IT THREE DAYS LATER
I bought this hitch for my 2021 Audi S4 so I can use my hitch bike rack, my previous vehicle would not accommodate a hitch. At any rate, this hitch works perfectly for what I need, it is sturdy and relatively inobtrusive. I will say that installation (which I did not do myself) was far more involved than the promotional materials would suggest, it did involve some drilling and removing (temporarily) the rear bumper. But now that it is done, it works well, and I am happy with it. I would recommend noting that installation can be more involved than the manufacturer implies.

I continue to be very happy with my Curt hitch. I use it several times a week for my bike rack and have not had any issues or problems with it. I have some nice s for it to make it look nicer as well.
Installation was easy, it took about 1.5 hours total. There are a few things that you have to do that are not shown in the instructions.
My car has the B&O stereo system, which comes with a base speaker located below the spare tire. This speaker is easily removed using a 10mm socket to remove two nuts located at the front of the speaker. Then the big plastic nut can be removed as well and the cable disconnected.
My car also comes equipped with what looks like a skid plate, but made of some fiber-reinforced plastic. This plate had to be removed in order to access the drain plugs from the below the car.
After installing these bolts, and in order to mount the so-called skid plate I opened two holes on such skids and trimmed the bolts.

Excellent product. Ive had this hitch for a year now. So far it has worked great with both of my bike racks. I use it 2-3 times a week. Great product.
Installed on a 2019 A4 allroad, took about 3 hours total. The other reviews are correct - there is no way you're getting the upper hitch mounting brackets over the bumper bars without taking the rear bumper fascia off. Do not waste your time trying to force the bracket around the bumper bar or getting cute with trying to drop the bolts from above.
This is not a difficult process if you have a helper available and you do not need to disconnect the parking sensors nor hands free tailgate sensor.
Using a Dremel or similar rotary cut off tool will be much easier than a pair of tin snips or a utility knife for cutting the fascia for clearance for the hitch receiver.
Installation is otherwise straightforward but unless you have a stable floor jack to hold the hitch in place, this is a job best suited to 2 people.
The hitch quality itself is as good as any Curt hitch I've used in the past and everything lined up nicely. If I had known the bumper cover would have been coming off anyway, I probably would have gone with a 2" receiver.
Exactly what I needed for my 2023 Audi A4. There were a few minor differences from the installation video, but overall the installation was straightforward.
On my vehicle, the battery vent hose was attached to the left mounting hole in the bottom of the trunk. I was able to relocate it to the center hole without any issues.
The biggest challenge was working around the rear parking sensors. After removing the screws securing the lower portion of the bumper cover, the sensor wiring prevented the bumper cover from moving as freely as shown in the video. As a result, I had to carefully maneuver the hitch receiver between the brackets rather than simply sliding it into place.
Overall, the installation took a little over two hours, and I am very happy with the fit and final result.

Thanks for your review, Francois! We’re glad to hear the hitch was exactly what you needed for your 2023 Audi A4 and that the installation went smoothly overall. We especially appreciate you sharing the details about the battery vent hose and rear parking sensor wiring, as those notes may be very helpful for other Audi owners tackling the same installation. Thank you for including the photos as well. Your finished installation looks great, and we're happy to hear you're pleased with the fit and final result. Enjoy your new hitch!

The powder coat finish used on Curt hitches is very tough, but between the abrasion caused by installing hitch mounted accessories and road salt and other chemicals used to treat roads in northern climates in the winter, corrosion can and will happen. Its very important to examine the hitch at least once a year and use a good rust inhibiting spray paint to touch up the finish as needed.
