Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2006 Ford F-150

When I got this, it had punched through the box and UPS had to repackage it. But the parts were tight around the receiver, and not affected. Plus the hitch is well constructed and suffered nada from the issue. Don't know if it affected anything near it.
I was worried about it interfering with the OEM transmission cooler. But I shouldn't have. This really does fit the 2006 F150 FX4 Off Road model.
I installed it myself. Left the wheels on the ground. I used a small hydraulic jack to lift the hitch into place. Hitch balanced nicely on it.
I may yet cut the facia to raise it a bit, or get the skid plate insert for the receiver. Not sure.
Found this video while looking to make sure of the torque needed for the final setting of the bolts. In fact, the only thing I would suggest is you include the torque setting in the writeup for the video.
Also, make sure the bolts for the small square holes go in last. You need to be able to move the hitch a bit to line up the sleeves for the front holes. Once they are in, the rest is a piece of cake.
I'm really happy to find this hitch. I had been told by a local dealer that installing a front hitch would require removal of the truck's OEM towing rings. Not so! This fits perfectly!

by:

Fits like a glove, even a 75 year old man can install. You will need some "lift" help as noted in the instructions.

by:
2006 Ford F-150

The front mount trailer hitch arrived quickly and installed exactly as described in your video. Thank you for the upgrade in shipping.

by:

It took twenty five minutes to install. I did it in a Walmart parking lot. Everything fit perfectly. It is an exceptional piece of hardware. My thanks to Cathy, she definately knows her material and who my first contact lso thanks to the others who provided such professional help. I appreciated how hard she worked to get and keep my business. I would look at your site first when buying or suggesting a sales outlet. Yours respectfully, Jim Nolsheim

Fit my F150 4x4 perfectly. I am using it for a front mount motorcycle carrier. The "low" mounting point is too low. I'd probaby catch something if driving on a rough road. Hard to torque the bolts unles you have a hoist or jack up the truck.

My only complaint is that when mounted the recevier is not quite level. Not a big deal if you are just mounting a hitch ball. For a motorcycle carrier, I needed to modify the carrier to bring it closer to the vehicle.

2005 Ford F-150

Hitch quality is very good, nice welds, nice paint, nice rounded receiver end and best of all it fit perfect on my 05 Ford F-150 4wd. I really like the fact that it has two height selections so I was able to tuck it up so only the very end of the receiver shows. Very easy to install, you don't have to take anything off or apart and you don't need a bunch of tools. To make your install a no pain deal use a floor jack to hold the hitch while you align the bolts and holes. If you don't have a torgue wrench then you need to get one, this is a place and time that it is needed.

2005 Ford F-150

Would like to just take a moment To thank etrailer for getting our draw tight front mount hitch and our swagman bike rack to us. It certainly solved our problem. For sometime we have wanted to take bikes camping with us and have not had a proper place to haul them. The camper has a molded bumper and I certainly didn't want to haul them in the camper. So my hat off to you on both products

by:

I purchased this about a year ago. Checkout and Shipping was quick and accurate. No issues at all with the product showing up in good condition with all the pieces. Was able to install by myself in about 10 minutes. I have traveled across country twice now with a double bike rack attached to this hitch. Nothing has shifted, moved, or loosened since the install and trust me i take my truck off road. Very Pleased.

2004 Ford F-150

Absolutely love this front hitch. I've had it for about a year now on my 2004 f150. Install was easy took about 30 minutes to install by myself using a hydraulic jack and basic hand tools. Great for backing in trailers to tight spots as well as hauling jetskis on the front.

by:

First I want to think Ashley for all the professional service and product knowledge . The 65043 hitch rates a five star rating . The shipping was two days from Wentzville, Mo. to Smyrna Ga. and the Tracking service was just as great . Fee shipping ( Great ) .I would ask for one thing , on you instructions, maybe add a sheet with a larger, darker items . I will be glad to recommend my friends to etrailer .
[Thumbs up]

The product works great. Installed by myself on my back in 10 min. perfect fit. Got the hitch for my 12,000 lb winch. 2006 F150 with a 3 inch leveling kit.

by:
2005 Ford F-150

I am 61 years old and put this on in my driveway with just a jack to push hitch into place. After a hour and a half it was on. Had to jiggle it a round abit to get all bolts to lineup. Install back bolts first its easier to put front bolts in then. Video was helpful Hitch is made to fit and it did. Using it for front rod rack for surf fishing on beaches on NC Coast. Very satisfied.

by:
2008 Ford F-150

Excellent product very well made. I installed on the highest setting for maximum ground clearance on a 2008 F150 2wd with a 2 1/2 level kit on the front.

by:

I received the hitch yesterday. The box had been taped up but the hitch was just fine. I installed it this morning. I used the floor jack to hold it in place and crawled underneath while my wife handed me the parts. Took about 30 minutes to get all the stuff together in about 30 minutes to install it.

by:

Does what it was designed to do. Easy installation holding up well

by:

Easier than expected to mount im high clearance position. Holds my DR200 well, didn’t go for a drive, but it is very secure and well engineered mounting hardware. Very impressed so far...

2008 Ford F-150

Easy to install only complaint is the picture on the instructions are hard to see. Other than that real happy with it.

by:

I have a difficult spot to back my trailer into, next to the house and around a corner. With the front hitch, I can put it there on the first try and within an inch of the exact spot I shoot for. As an added bonus, I can take a small motorcycle along on the front of the truck while puling my camper. Perfect. PS--Wear safety glasses when working under an older vehicle or you will get rust and dirt in your eyes.

After a year of use, this thing is great. It is easier every time to park the trailer.

by:
2007 Ford F-150

The tow bar is exactly what I ordered, BUT the packing was awful. There are 2 large holes with the ends of the hitch that attaches to the truck sticking out. The UPS driver suggested not accepting the package to my wife or letting me decide when I got home if we I should return the delivery tomorrow. Both ends has the paint scraped off but since that part bolts up under the truck I decided to keep it & just spray some paint on the bare metal. I have been very pleased over the years with your service & will remain a future customer.

Perfect fit for our 2007 F150. Allows for an incredibly easy experience when moving any trailer. Even my wife who previously never moved any type of trailer can can move around our 24 enclosed car hauler with ease. Thanks again for offering such a high-quality product!

2006 Ford F-150

Great hitch. Was easy to install with a little help. Perfect fit. Being a
front hitch, it will set lower than a rear hitch, so be careful if driving in
deep ruts. I use this at the beach for my surf rod holder.

2004 Ford F-150

After it sat on my garage floor for a year, I finally installed the front receiver hitch on my 2004 F150. Raised it up into position with a floor jack with no problem. However, I could NOT install the front spacer and bolt from the outside of the frame as the instructions and video indicate. The fog lamp assembly interfered and the bolt was too long to insert into the spacer. After much trial and error and viewing pix and the video, I ended up installing the spacer and inserting the front bolts from inside BETWEEN the frame rails and attaching the hex nuts on the OUTSIDE. The fit of the hitch otherwise was perfect. Looking at customer pix, all of the fog lamps are round or not there. I have rectangular fog lamps on my 2004. Unfortunately site would not allow upload of pix of the issue.

Really fast shipping, looks like a great product and very happy with the price! The cardboard box was mangled when it got here with huge holes in it and I was happy to see that all the hardware was secured to the unit so none of it fell out. Got it mounted on my truck and mounted my winch on it, can't wait to try it out.

  • Does The Draw-Tite Front Hitch 65043 Require Any Modifications To A 2008 Ford F150 Limited?
Hi Charles! The Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 65043 is a truly bolt on application for your 2008 Ford F150 Limited. There is no drilling or trimming or anything like that. Just bolt it into place and you are on your way!
