So far the trans cooler has been working well. I also used the adapters. Both products are doing well after 1500 miles or so and many hills, mountains, and trailering.

100 happy with the trans cooler and adapter set. Temp stays nice and cool. Puts me at ease when towing my trailer.

by:

Great cooler upgrade for my 1997 GMC Yukon! Little delivery damage, but was so easy to bend those fins back to original shape so no worries!
Nice that you had proper dimension measurements online, so it was easy to figure out what kind I can fit in my truck. Complete kit had everything I needed to get it done!
Modified old cooler bracket little bit and that was it. Works great!

by:

Will make the installation of the trans cooler easier

by:

A must have .just wish I had got my trans cooler from etrailer they are a great company .so if you gonna put a trans cooler own you GM truck take my word for it you best go to trailer! Won't be sorry, thanks

by:

Have I gotten my refund for trans cooler fittings that weren't needed? 1994 k1500 trans cooler is working great.

by:

Very handy for unique installations fo transmission coolers

by:

It looks like from reading the matierl if one is using the cooler in series with the factory cooler this adapter is not needed.
Thus I would like to return, but I fear the shipping cost will not make sense, dollar wise...

Thus the recommendation should state if you are adding a cooler to your system where one does not already exist, then you'll need this adapter.

So if your adding to an already existing system, you do not need the adapter.

by:

Worked out great for installing the extra trans cooler.

by:

Pro help online to order. Trans cooler shipped right away.

by:

The adapter fitting did not fit my 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 w/ 5.3 liter engine and factory trailer package.

by:

These fittings made connecting the hoses to the steel transmission lines very easy - glad I bought them! I recommend getting them.

by:

I purchased these fittings thinking these would fit my GM product. NOT.......These are 3/8 and looks like the fit the truck series only as stated on the package. Be aware

by:

Great buying experience, will definitely be a go to company for future purchases

  • What Size Fittings Are the Transmission Fluid Lines In The Radiator On a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado
Are you referring to the fittings on your factory transmission cooler in the radiator or are you referring to the Derale Insta-Dapt Radiator Adapter included with the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D12904? If you are referring to the fittings on your factory transmission cooler in the radiator then they are 5/8". If you are referring to the Derale Insta-Dapt Radiator Adapter then this is a 1/2". Please keep in mind that that the factory transmission cooler in...

  • Transmission Cooler to Correct Transmission Overheating Problems in 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 6.0 V8
The best option for your 2002 Chevy Silverado with the 6.0L V8 engine is a plate fin cooler like the Derale # D13504. The plate fin style cooler helps dissipate heat better than a tube fin style and this is the largest cooler that is going to fit in your vehicle. These are relatively easy to install and will help cool down the transmission by using the air intake from the front of the truck. You will need to add the Derale Radiator Adapter Fitting # D13018 for this to be compatible with...

  • Which Transmission Line of 2004 Chevy Blazer to Install Transmission Cooler On
On your 2004 Chevy Blazer the upper connection is from the trans, (hot). The lower connection goes back to the trans, (cooled). The lower line is the return line and the one you want to install a cooler on. For a transmission cooler the Derale part # D13503 would be a fantastic option. It measure 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep and is a plate fin style cooler which is very efficient. The correct adapter fitting you'll want to use is the part # D13018. This threads into the radiator...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2012 Chevy Traverse
First, you do not necessarily have to remove the front clip on your 2012 Chevy Traverse to install a supplemental transmission cooler. It just makes installation a lot easier if there is nothing in the way. We have not yet installed a transmission cooler on a Traverse so I do not have a video or specific instructions on removing the front clip. When our installers perform an installation they have to determine where the fasteners are that hold on the front clip (if it is a vehicle they...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 1998 Chevy 1500 Truck with 5.7 Liter Engine
Transmission coolers are pretty universal in the vehicles they can fit. The part # D13504 would be an excellent choice for your 1998 Chevy Silverado 5.7 liter. I attached an install video that shows it being installed in a similar larger GM SUV. You would also want the fitting part # D13018 so that you don't have to cut any metal lines.

  • Transmission Cooler for 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500HD
Thanks for your kind words! I'd recommend going with a transmission cooler. Unless you live in a far northern location that has freezing temperatures most of the year, we typically recommend going with the largest transmission cooler that will fit in the available space on the front of your radiator directly behind the grille. I'd recommend the Derale # D13504 which measures 11x12 inches which would provide plenty of cooling. If you have 5/8 inch hex fittings on your transmission lines,...

According to my contact at Derale, the 5/8 Inch Inverted Flare Fittings, # D13018, that you purchased should fit the 2012 and 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 4.3L V6. Yes, you can bypass the auxiliary transmission cooler on your 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 but you will need an adapter to do so, the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for GM part # D13018 which goes straight on the radiator and allows you to hook up the new lines without any splicing. We typically recommend you just install the new one in-line with the old one. However, if you choose not to then I recommend using a cooler with sufficient capacity such as the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission...

If you have a hard metal line and do not want to use the fitting, you could cut the metal line, flare it, and use hose clamps. The transmission cooler comes with hose, clamps, and mounting hardware. It also includes an Insta-dapt radiator adapter. This adapter is if you have a rubber line, not a metal line, so you can use the...

According to Derale, the correct fitting to install the D13504 cooler in your 2009 Traverse would be part # D13035, if the return transmission line is attached to the radiator using an E-clip. You would need two of them. If the connection does not use an E-clip, you would need to use a compression fitting. The correct fitting will depend on the outside diameter of your transmission lines.
