Installation on 2014 and 2015 Toyota Highlander

2014-15 Toyota Highlander connection points

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness. The connection points for the 4-way tow harness and the ModuLite (converter) are located underneath the spare tire compartment. Once you've plugged in the ModuLite, locate the "towing fuse" position in your fuse box and insert the included 10-amp fuse.

Installation on 2013 and Earlier Toyota Highlander

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness. The connection point for the 4-way tow harness is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area. The ModuLite plugs into the factory wiring harness beneath your dash, on the driver's side. Once you've plugged in the ModuLite, locate the "towing fuse" position in your fuse box and insert the included 10-amp fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom wiring harness. T-One connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting, splicing or tapping required. Powered ModuLite reduces strain on wiring system.

This converter box with wire and pigtail is exactly what I needed for my factory prepped 2012 Toyota Highlander. It did not come with these wires in it. After talking to the folks are etrailer; they squared me away and I got this installed and ready to tow my boat to go fishing. It even comes with the two fuses needed. He spiked mini one for the inline fuse holder as well as the low profile 10 amp fuse for under the hood. I did cut the love off of the pigtail fuse so it would fit into the hole in the compartment in the back by the tail light. I attached my converter box to an existing bolt under the dash against the firewall. It does not weigh that much so all is good. Did not even need to use zip ties just tucked up the firm wires above others and holds well.

Works flawlessly easy install and fit up.

Very easy to install. The installation video was spot on. I cut an access hole to route the harness directly into the cubby hole.

2015 Toyota Highlander

Purchased a new to me 2015 Toyota Highlander Limited. Needed to add a tow hitch and wiring. Found this wiring kit. Installed easily and has worked perfectly for the last year now. Highly recommend.

Dear Carol,
I'm writing to express my unhappiness with receiving my tow package order from in front of my garage door rather than the front door this morning; I almost ran into a leaning box when backing my car out of the garage. When I went closer to move the box into the garage, my unhappiness turned to disappointment. First, the tow package box was badly damaged, torn and taped shut from front and bottom, as shown in the attached pictures.
As the box was opened, some products were found to be slightly damped, such as the black canvas bag containing the trailer wiring kit box, wiring kit box had been opened as shown in one of the pictures. Also, the trailer hitch was scratched on both ends as you can see in one of the pictures.
It has been my first time ordering from, I am very disappointed with the product delivery. I am sure will stand by their pledge to the decades of experience and excellent service, and will be backed by the Satisfaction Guarantee and our Lowest Price that is claimed. I expect some sort of compensation in this regard to make up for my unpleasant experience purchasing a tow package for my Toyota Highlander from
If you have any questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Replacement Hardware Kit for Tow Hitched Received: Our tow hitch needed 10 bolts to install the hitch but we received 9 bolts as shown in the picture.
I am open for any suggestion for an overall rating. Yes! I am sure not to order or suggest anyone to order from ETRAILER.COM. They do not stand by their pledge to customers.

Great hitch!! Relatively easy to install and at a great savings over what you would pay at the dealership. I just pull a utility trailer and don't need electric brakes. I bought the electrical kit that allowed me to connect to the factory wiring with no cutting/splicing. I saw a Youtube video in which a fellow used a floor jack with the hitch connected with Vicegrip pliers and used that example to install by myself.

Completely satisfied with the Draw-Tite hitch and

Everything working fine, still completely satisfied with this purchase.

2018 Toyota Highlander

These OEM products that I purchased last summer from your company, were spot on ideal. Everything was top quality and allowed myself to install a "exact factory duplicate" trailer hitch on my 2018 Highlander.

First, completely bolt up hitch with no drilling required I have installed. I watched the installation video for my car and read the instructions. It was an easy job and looks nice. I also purchased the plug-and-play light wiring harness. It works well and was easy to install.

Very easy to install. Instructions for exact fit procedures were spot on. The only thing I did not like, there was no indication to trim the interior panel to keep from pinching the harness between the sill panel and the cargo storage container.

You mention in your review that you were unable to find a way to keep the wiring harness from pinching between the side panel and cargo container. I have a video linked below, if you go to the time stamp 3:09, our installer shows the best way to line the harness in the paneling in order to keep the wiring from smashing.

2014 Toyota Highlander

Installed for a customer, fits very cleanly, looks like a factory part. Wiring worked perfectly you will definitely be my go to place for trailer hitches and accessories.

This included everything I needed to install, price was very competitive, and installation was a snap. It was also delivered quicker than anticipated. I would buy from etrailer again in a heartbeat.

Install on the hitch was pretty easy, did it myself with the help of a floor jack. The wiring was straight forward and basically plug and play. Quick shipping.

2013 Toyota Highlander

The hitch was a perfect fit. I also put the drivers side panel back in place. All it requires is a notch in the panel to fit around the hitch mount. This makes the job complete like it should be.

Toyota Highlander

All of the products fit our Highlander perfectly and the instructions matched the vehicle better than average.

2017 Toyota Highlander

I just installed the harness so simple and the video was perfect. This is second item I ordered from etrailer and recommend them highly great service and shipping.

Ford Edge

Easy install and works great. As others have said, Needs longer trailer lead to allow for routing through existing holes. It's shorter length requires it to be routed directly out side of storage bin area to reach trailer, which means it's pinched between the edge of the storage bin and door frame trim. Probably not an issue if you don't have anything heavy sitting on storage bin while towing for long distances... otherwise it should be wrapped with tape at that spot or an extension should be added to allow it to be routed through existing holes.

Toyota Highlander

Installation could not have been easier. The video on the e-trailer website for installation in the Highlander was a great help. Even though the vehicle came with the factory tow-prep package that includes a wiring harness, the T-One harness or equivalent is still required. Go figure. As an earlier reviewer noted, with the third-row seat it is necessary to remove the driver-side flip-up third-row cover (the piece just ahead of the tool kit cover). Easy enough to do by simply laying down the rear seat and prying up the rear edge of the cover to loosen the clips. See the attached photos, the first with the cover in place, and the second with it removed. It is necessary to remove this cover to permit removal of the left-side tray to gain access to the existing harness and plug.
One other piece of advice is to thoroughly clean the surface to which the box will be mounted to assure a strong bond with the included two-sided tape. I used alcohol-soaked gauze.
The price through e-trailer was the best I could find anywhere, and the service was second-to-none!

2016 Toyota Highlander

To say that the instructions were perfect and the installation was 5 times easier than I thought would still be an understatement. Very easy installation in a 2016 Highlander; anyone with basic skills can do this with professional results. 30 minutes job if you are slow like me.

The only tools you will need are a 10mm wrench or socket, and an auto trim removal tool for popping up the carpet from the rear tray. No wires to cut, or splicing; very clean plugs to connect with built-in plugs already in Highlander. Too easy!

The products were as advertised, shipped and delivered promptly, and the directions were accurate and made the job easy to install. is my go-to site for any hitch and trailer products!

The harness worked as advertised. The installation videos were very helpful.

2010 Toyota Highlander

This was needed in order for my 2010 Toyota Highlander to have functioning trailer lights. After one year the product still works like it’s new.

It was very easy to install. It only took 2 of us about an hour from start to finish. I liked how it was just plug in 2 electrical parts and 1 fuse to get the trailer lights working. The instructions were clear and easy to understand how to install everything.

Very very simple install! I ran the trailer wire through the rubber Grommet so that it would be on the exterior underneath the vehicle. Then used some zip ties to secure to lower valance on the vehicle gives it a finished look.

2011 HL, bought OEM hitch and this wiring harness. Pre-wired under dash was just a direct plug-in. Not sure the double sided tape will hold. Getting the plastic tray out of back was a little difficult. Easy plug-in once I got it out. Decided to just leave the plug and wires in the storage bin but could not find a way to route it into the black storage bin without creating a larger hole. I used a Dremel and expanded one hole (see picture). Probably an easier way.

Good value, easy to understand installation instructions, I installed this by myself. Works well for me.

Easy installation for any DYI'er. Direct fit.

  • Removing Rear Storage Bin on a 2008 Toyota Highlander to Install a Trailer Wiring Harness
The storage bin on the left side of the cargo area on a 2008 Toyota Highlander is held in by the fasteners but it also has some tabs that fit into the side of the cargo area side panels. The resistance you are feeling is probably those tabs still holding on. Take a look at the video I have linked that shows our installer removing the bin to install the harness. He states that it has to be manipulated around the flooring to the right of it to get it to come out.

  • Trailer Lights Stopped Working Using Trailer Wiring Harness 118449 on a 2009 Toyota Highlander
The first thing I would check is the small fuse that is part of the converter box wiring for harness # 118449. If that fuse is loose or blown the whole harness will not work. And if it is blown it is possible that a short on the trailer caused it to blow and until that short is found and fixed it would just keep happening. If the fuse is not blown then the converter box itself could have blown and the harness would not work. You would need to replace the wiring harness. You can also check...
