Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system.
Features:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side and passenger's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold and interior paneling to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with a 4-pole flat trailer connector. This product fits a 2004 to 2006 Lexus RX330, and a 2007 to 2012 Lexus RX350. It's going to provide a 4-way flat connector at the back of the vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole, and 7-pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately. It comes with a dust cap to cover up the connection points. That's going to offer protection for when the plug's not being used.
It's also going to feature protective connection terminals to resist rust and corrosion. The black box right here, this is a included tail light converter. This is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. It's going to prevent overloading. This unit is designed to connect quickly and easily, all you have to do is locate the connection points in the rear cargo area.
Then you're going to have all these T-connectors that you have to connect. This particular harness is going to have three T-connectors. I do want to point out that the ports or the plugs are custom fit. They're going to match up perfectly with the ports or plugs on your vehicle. Push together, and then they snap lock together for a nice, tight, secure fit. Once you have all of those plugged in, you'll need to mount your converter box to a safe, out of the way location using the provided cable ties.
Then you'll need to make a good ground connection. Your ground wire is this white wire, and it's going to have a ring terminal attached to it, so you can get that grounded to a nice, clean, metal location with the included grounding screw. Once you have all of that done, you'll need to run your hot lead to the vehicle battery. The hot lead is this red wire coming out of the box, it has a butt connector already attached to it. This is going to get connected to one end of the bundle of red wire. The other end of the bundle runs to the vehicle battery, gets connected into the other butt connector right here on the fuse holder, and then the other half of the fuse holder gets connected to the positive post of the vehicle battery.
It's going to come with a 20 amp fuse, goes directly in there. Then it's got the fuse cap to keep it safe and secure. Once you have all of that done, you can secure any excess or slack in the wiring with the leftover cable ties. Once your installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector is going to be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket is recommended to keep the connector secure. Mounting brackets are sold separately, we do sell them here at etrailer.com, so if you're interested or in need of one, you can check out some options. It's also recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all your electrical connections like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4-pole connector itself. The grease is designed to help prevent corrosion to the connection points, and that grease is included. That's going to do it for today's look at the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with a 4-pole flat trailer connector.
