2001 Volkswagen Jetta

Very easy to install. Worked great until I traded in the truck 6 months later. I had an initial problem with the running lights but traced it down to a known but hard to find issue with the wire being pinched and shorted out at the wiring harness just outside of the fuse box on the left front wheel well. I am considering a motor home and will need a harness to connect my towed vehicle lights. I will definitely call for quote at that time. I will also need the front adapters to connect a 2001 VW Jetta to a Roadmaster tow bar.

1999 Ford F-150

My 99 F-150 had both factory and after market harnesses installed. I was confused on what to order but took a chance with this one. It installed perfectly and worked perfectly. My original 7way had been cut off and the aftermarket had went bad due to corrosion.

Easy to install (video helped); product well-built and seems like it will last a long time; If I had to suggest any improvement it would be to increase the size of the mounting screws; they are a little small to handle the push/pull forces of the plug/unplug operation. Otherwise, this is a perfect product for the application. NO wire splicing required!

2000 Ford F-150

Sorry for delay in the review.

The wiring harness worked great, I had to do some playing with it due to the wiring issues with my old truck, but it worked as expected and perfect. I had to leave my old factory harness in place for this to work, as it has the factory 7 way, but I made it work. Thanks for the professional advice and help selecting the product.

Saturn Relay

I wish I knew that there was an issue with Ford 150 wiring harnesses. The wire under the electrical distribution box (under the hood, driver side) to the trailer running lights relay apparently gets pinched and over time shorts out. I was able to repair the short and get my trailer lights back in service. Thanks to the Ford 150 forum for helping me find this issue.

f150 four stars because; The installation was complicated by the instructions They stated look at your owner's manual for the location of fuse and relays, The problem was the location is NOT listed in the owner's manual. Two day later I found the location. A picture in the instruction sheet for this year would help.

Hey Dave, thanks for reaching out. The two relays that come with the Curt # C55242 are for the trailer tow backup lamp and the trailer tow battery charge. The two included fuses are for the trailer tow electric brake and battery charge. You will need to consult your owners manual for fuse and relay locations but I recommend removing the current fuses and replacing them with the new ones that came with your wiring kit. Looking For A Replacement Wiring Harness For My 2002 Ford F 150
Hey Jimmy, For your 2002 F150 there are a couple options for replacements. There is a Hopkins # 30955 that with replace the 7/4 connectors on the rear of that vehicle and just plug into the OEM harness. If the damage goes farther you will need the Curt Harness # C55242 which is going to still be a simple plug and play application, but replace more of that entire harness rather than just the plug. Your 2001 Ford F-150 likely came with a factory 4-Way and someone spliced in a 7-Way at some point. Since your 2000 Ford F-150 Lightning does not have the factory tow package you'd need to go a different route for trailer wiring. You'd want to start with the part # 118344 for a 4-way wiring harness. Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. According to the installation instructions for the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55242, the 30 amp maxi-fuses go in the Trailer Tow Electric Brake and Trailer Tow Battery Charge locations. The Curt T-Connector #C55242 is designed to plug in line of the connector that is in the drivers side frame rail near the rear bumper. You will undo the connection and plug the 2 connectors in line of that single plug. I have no idea what that 2nd round plug that you have goes into or is for as I have been unable to identify it.
