Replacement Disc Brake Actuator for Manning Marine to Replace Atwood

Updated 07/22/2025 | Published 07/18/2025

Question:

I have a Manning Marine trailer for a 25 foot boat. I am replacing the disk brakes which I already obtained from etrailer. It has an Attwood 82543 Brake Actuator - Surge Brake Actuator. It needs to be replaced. Do you have a direct replacement. I understand Attwood no longer makes the parts.

Hey James, we have the Demco Disc Actuator part # DM62VR which is a great replacement for your Atwood actuator. This is a much easier to use and reliable coupler latch and also just overall a really nice design that will work great for you. This is the actuator we recommend most to replace the now discontinued Atwood actuators and the feedback has been great.

Thank you. I mis-typed. It is for a drum brake system. I believe Demco makes a similar product for the drum bake system as well. I may need brake lines. It is a double axle trailer.

@JamesB The drum version of that is part # DM72VR. For a brake line kit we have the part # 20TA-BLKIT for a tandem axle trailer if that's what you have.

@JamesonC Yes, it is a tandem axel but only the rear axle has the brake drums. I am not sure if that would make a difference with the brake line package.

@JamesB That will work with the kit. I just didn't want to sell you a kit for a different amount of axles.
