Will Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes Work With Travel Trailer and Wrangler With Spare

Updated 04/02/2025 | Published 03/27/2025

Question:

Hi, I have 2 Lectric 2.0 step thru e-bikes that I would like to carry on my travel trailer and Jeep Wrangler. Both the travel trailer and Wrangler have rear mounted spare tires. Will this rack work for my needs? I already have the etrailer anti-rattle collar on order.

Hey Bob! The only way to know the answer to your question is to measure. The distance from the center of the # S94FR hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack when folded down is 10" and when folded is 6-1/2". Compare this to the hitch on your travel trailer and Jeep Wrangler to see if you have clearance for the spare. If you find that it won't work on the Jeep there may be another hitch with an extended receiver that would help. If you can let me know the year of your Wrangler in the comments below I can check to see what is available.

Hi Robin, Thanks for the reply. My Wrangler is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4XE. I have seen another rack that I thought might be a better choice since I asked the question originally, it’s the Hollywood Racks RV Rider. I was thinking that might be a better choice based on both Lectric 2.0’s having step thru frames. I’ll do some measuring in the meantime.

@BobC I would agree but the # HLY64FR isn't rated for travel trailers. You're extremely limited because of that. Worst case scenario you're using a bike adapter bar to secure them with the # S94FR. If it isn't the true step thru and just has the low frame you can get the hook down on it without an adapter. Let me know what you find out.

@RobinH It looks like it won’t work on either one. I would need about 14.5 “ on the camper. Both frames on the bikes are true step thru’s.

@Bobc alright we can try a different solution. You can use an extension on your Jeep # e88YR. This will cut the capacity of the hitch in half but it should still be enough to handle the bikes and bike rack. To adapt to the step thru you can use the # S57FR. You don't want to use an extension on your travel trailer with all the movement back there but you could avoid the spare if you mount the etrailer RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # e38HR away from the spare tire. This fits 4" x 4" and 4" x 4-1/2" square bumpers.
