How does the hook work with step thru e-bikes?

Hey Angi, welcome back! You will most likely need to use the Swagman Bike Frame Adapter Bar item # S57FR for a step thru framed bike. The hooks on the Swagman E-Spec Pro Bike Rack item # S45SR don't go down far enough to secure bikes with real low frames.

The Swagman E-Spec Pro item # S45SR has a 80 lbs per bike capacity and works with tires up to 5" wide. It is rated for use behind RV's but the capacity drops to 70 lbs per bike.

If you're looking for a bike rack that is RV compatible and won't require the additional adapter bar, I recommend the Hollywood Racks RV Rider item # HLY64FR. This bike rack uses padded clamps which will allow you to secure your bikes by the seat post or frame. It also has a 80 lbs per bike capacity that doesn't reduce on a RV.

My wife and I have taken our e-bikes on a 10000 mile trip on the back of our fifth wheel from northern Vermont all through the south west and they never moved. My bike is a mokwheel obsidian and my wife’s is a Rad pro and both weigh 80 pounds. We do however remove the battery’s. The Rad pro is a step through and secures perfectly. I’m very pleased with the performance of the Hollywood rv bike rack. I hope this helps

I have the RV rider bike style, the clamps grab the bike just below the seat. I used the longer bolts (supplied). They make a brace that extends from the seat to the yoke to grab with the clamps, it is an extra piece which didn’t work for me. We have Aventon Sinch 2 bikes, I love the rack

My wife and I both have step through aventure brand e-bikes. The Hollywood bike rack works very well for us. The clamp to secure the bikes connects to vertical frame bar under the seat post. We did not need to buy any additional adapters to secure the bikes, but we did have to buy an extension to move the bike rack a little further back from the camper’s hitch.
