Will Swagman Escapee Pro Work With Front Fenders and Will Swagman E-Spec Pro Fit Step-Through

Updated 01/29/2026 | Published 01/25/2026

Question:

Have a 20” step thu frame e-bike with front fender. Can this rack be used with front fender in place? Can this rack be used on step though frame, or is bar required?

Hey Sam! The Swagman Escapee Pro # S85SR will work with a step-through frame since it secures the bikes by the front tires. However, it is for that reason that this won't work with front fenders. The Swagman E-Spec Pro # S45SR will likely require an adapter bar # S57FR to secure an e-bike with a step-through frame.

If you're looking for something that is RV compatible and won't require the adapter bar I recommend the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # HLY64FR. This bike rack uses padded clamps which will allow you to secure the bikes by the seat post or frame. This means the step-through design and front fenders won't be an issue.

What kind of bikes do you have?

Thanks for your response. We have 2 Magicycle Jaguarundi. 20” fat tire with step through frame. We need a rack for a travel trailer. The rack you recommended is not approved for travel trailer per the description. Thanks so much. I reckon we will keep looking.

@SamM ah yeah, travel trailer compatibility really limits you. The majority of bike racks are not rated for a travel trailer. The best option that can handle the extra force from the back of a TT is the Lets Go Aero V-Lectric VFR Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # LGA25VR. This has a capacity of 80 lbs per bike and works with fenders and fat tires.

I have 4 e-bikes: a Kat, Giant, Aventon, electric. They all fit on this rack, very solid budget rack. This is probably the best for RV out there!

I have the Hollywood rack and carry two Magicycle bikes with the batteries installed. Have it on back of a Class A motorcoach, both bikes have fenders and work well. The bikes are fasten by the seat post and straps around the fat tires perfect set up for me. I swap the rack off when needed to my jeep for additional transport off site easy transistion.

5 Stars. We recommend this Hollywood RV Rider Bike Rack (HLY64FR). This rack is solid. Our e-bikes are approx 45 pounds each and our bike cover is about 10 pounds. The rack handles the 100 pound load easily. Once we got the rack adjusted for our bikes, bikes are easily mounted and removed thanks to the clamp design. We've traveled thousands of miles with this rack had no issues. One thing, the rack is fairly heavy at around 65 pounds. We're in our mid 60's and it takes both of us to insert/remove it into the 2" receiver on our motorhome or truck. Not an issue for us, just FYI. BTW, a lighter rack might not be as sturdy. Also, nice that it folds vertical with bikes removed and has several security locks (hitch, cable, clamps), all using the same key. We recommend this Hollywood RV Rider Bike Rack (HLY64FR).
