Bike Rack for Cannondale Adventure Bikes on Jayco Melbourne

Question:
Hi, I am looking for an RV bike rack for Jayco Melbourne. Hitch receiver is 2 inch. We have step through Cannondale Adventure 2 bikes, size small and size medium with fenders. I am interested in the tilt back option as we have a rear compartment on RV. However, I have read that some models have tilted on their own by reviewers! This model: HLY64FR Hollywood RV Rider has some reviews and even a picture that folks have used the tilt option WITH bikes on rack. The write up states the tilt is for an unloaded rack. My questions, would this rack with the one center post be compatible to secure the two Adventure 2 bikes? Is it rec to tilt with bikes on rack? Is there a different bike rack I should be looking for? The RV also has 2 side doors to access the rear compartment, so maybe its better to not get a tilt option and that would open up other racks? Thanks for all your expert knowledge.

Hey Elane! The Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # HLY64FR will work with those bikes. This uses clamps so it can secure them by the seat post, making it perfect for step-through designs.
It is an incredibly robust rack rated for 5th wheels and motorhomes, with a high capacity at 80 lbs per bike. Things do happen, but I'm more inclined to think the pin and clip, along with the knob and carriage bolt weren't secure when it "tilted on its own."
The language can be confusing, but it can tilt away with bikes on the racks. I confirmed this with Hollywood racks as well. What it is saying is the bikes have to come off if you want to fold the main mast down and tilt or fold the rack. It seems obvious for folding the rack up. Not the best wording for tilting away, but it does give you the most clearance with that folded down to the side.
Where do you like to ride? Any big trips coming up with the Jayco?

I have this rack and it’s the vest rack I’ve owned. We took two mountain bikes across country on the back of our fifth wheel without a single issue. It does get a bit difficult getting the bike on/off from between the center post and the trailer but I’d rather work through that and have a tough, sturdy bike rack than having to worry if the bikes were ok going down a highway at 65-70 mph!

We carry two 85 lb. electric bikes on our rack. I can use it on the back of the truck, the back of the 5er, and also on the front of the truck. I have installed a real receiver hitch on the front of the truck. Real true heavy duty, front mount receivers are hard to find but etrailer will find one for your vehicle. I have been hauling our bikes for over 7,000 miles with absolutely NO issues. I do not use the bike covers when hauling them up front because it will restrict the engine airflow and the headlights will be blocked! I have NO REGRETS with the bikerack.
