Updated 03/24/2026 | Published 03/20/2026

Question:

what is the max wheel base on the Swagman E-Spec pro? Will it handle a Xpedition 2.0 with a 54inch wheel base?

Hey Tom, welcome back! The Swagman E-Spec Pro Bike Rack item # S45SR tops out at 50" wheelbases so it's not going to work with your Xpedition 2.0. However, I have a bike rack that will.

For your Xpedition 2.0 electric bike, I recommend the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack item # HLY64FR. It works with wheelbases up to 60" long. It has a 80 lbs per bike capacity so for safety and weight purposes you'll need to remove your bike's batteries when traveling.

The Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack item # HLY64FR is going to be perfect for your Xpedition 2.0. It has a padded adjustable clamps that will firmly secure your bike by the seat post. This attachment method will completely avoid the fenders and potential damage to them.

What kind of vehicle are you going to be using to haul your new bike rack?

Many thanks for your kind reply. I will sometimes put the bikes on a jeep grand cherokee and tow it behind an rv. Does that work?

@TomW You're welcome! It sure does! The RV Rider Bike Rack item # HLY64FR is rated to be used with any vehicle or motorhome that has at least a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It's also rated to be used behind a flat towed vehicle.

@TomW Hi Tom. I have the Hollywood rack and it has worked great for me. I bought a couple of cheaper racks from Amazon that said they were rv rated, and had nothing but trouble. They loosened and I ended up with damage on the bikes. I bit the bullet and bought the Hollywood rack and it clamps to the seat post, so no frame or fender damage. I have hauled Pace 500 e-bikes about 5000 miles on the back of my class A diesel pusher with no incidents. Lately I have started putting the rack on the back of my Jeep Gladiator instead of the rv and that has also worked great. Dwain

@JerredH Hi Tom. Ours works great behind out 5th wheel. It does not bounce at all. We do add a strap for security and it also helps it not to bounce. It's a little heavy so we just leave it on all the time. We love it.

Also, will the swagman ramp work with the Hollywood rack?

@Thomas No, it will not. There's no ramp that's designed to work with the RV Rider Bike Rack item # HLY64FR.

@JerredH is there any rack with a ramp that will work for us?

@Thomas No, there is not. Your bikes are pretty unique and there's not many options for e-bike rated bike racks that can be used behind a flat tow.

I have the rack they’re recommending and have been very satisfied with it. We carry two Gazelle e-bikes that weigh a little over 50# each, battery included. The rack is extremely well built and sturdy, with great adjustability. It’s great that they clamp to the seat post rather than over the wheels, as our bikes have fenders. Those clamps are also lockable for security . Once you have the initial adjustments made it’s easy to load and secure them. No ramp but my wife usually helps load the bikes, however I’ve found by lifting them at the lower part of the frame it’s not terribly difficult for me to do by myself.

I carried both the ebikes with large fat tires as well as 20 inches like yours. However, with 20" wheel I installed the wheel adapter to narrow the tire slot in back to fit it better without causing any problem to the chain and gear system.

2026 will be the third season for our Hollywood RV Rider Bike Rack HLY64FR. We've gone thousands of miles with this rack on the back of our Class A MH. Works well on our RAM 2500 pickup too. E-bikes are expensive... don't cheap-out on a rack to carry them. This rack is solid. George
