Features to know about

Keeps Trailers Level and Stable: 4" Rise or 6" Drop

Getting the tongue height right makes all the difference between a smooth, steady haul and one that feels off balance. This Curt ball mount gives you a full 6" drop or 4" rise so you can line up your trailer and tow level every time. The 9-1/4" length from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole gives you plenty of room for easy hookup without crowding your bumper.

Built to Handle Real Towing Loads: Up to 7,500 lbs GTW

When you’re pulling a utility trailer, camper, or equipment hauler, you want gear that’s solid. This mount is rated for up to 7,500 lbs gross towing weight with a matching 750 lbs tongue weight in drop position, and 6,000 lbs GTW with 600 lbs tongue weight in rise position. The sturdy steel shank slides right into your 2" x 2" receiver and stays tight under load so you can tow with confidence.

Tough Finish That Fights Rust and Road Grime: Gloss Black Powder Coat

Long trips and rough weather can wear down lesser hitches fast. The high-gloss black powder coat on this Curt mount protects the steel from corrosion and road debris so it keeps looking good and working strong. You can leave it on through rain and salt season without worrying about ugly rust creeping in.

Simple, Solid Setup: Fixed Mount That Just Works

No moving parts, no adjustments—just a straightforward mount that does its job every time. The fixed ball platform takes any standard hitch ball with a 1" diameter shank (sold separately). A standard 5/8" pin secures it in place, keeping everything tight and quiet mile after mile.

Quality, strength and value describe not only this product but the entire etrailer experience. Product selection features, clean website and buying confidence. This ball mount is exactly what I expected and the express delivery was a bonus. This is my second experience etrailer and it probably won't be my last.

by:

I received my order very quick and all items are just as advertised. I will defantly order from e-trailer again. Prices are ok too. I am impressed with the product lines they offer.
I'll be in the market for one or two trailer brake controllers very soon.

by:

I purchased this ball mount for my Dodge Ram 2500, and have towed a Jayco travel trailer >5000 miles since then with no troubles. Fit and finish are excellent; still looks new after a year of use.

by:

What is there to say about a trailer ball and ball mount? Many miles on it and the trailer hasn't fallen off. Never had any problems with any Curt product.

by:

The products bought were exactly what I expected with regards to quality. But what I appreciated most was the short amount of time it took to receive the items - very quick turn around from placing the order to receiving all of the items. I had emailed etrailer a couple of times, once to get the tracking number and another just to acknowledge receiving it and both times customer service replied right away - so kudos to George J and the customer service team.

by:

The ball mount, ball, hitch pin and light kit are still working well after a year.

by:

First class service from E Trailer, first class product from Curt, as always ! !

by:

This is super easy to use, still in perfect shape a year later, and the customer service from etrailer-answering all of my questions about what I needed to order and how to use it - was absolutely fantastic !

by:

Hitch and ball arrived quickly and were of high quality. powder coat finish looked great. Also compliments to the etrailer folks: their followup on the order was fast and professional. Their website is very easy to use and the tracking system for orders uses a pictorial map.
great work etrailer!

by:

I just want to say. The trailer receiver I ordered was the best. The shipping deliver was fast. I called by phone to get just what I wanted. Do not trust the email pictures with what you just ordered. When I saw them I tried to cancel the order. It did not look right. When I received my order it was more than prefect.
My suggestion to all of you, explain in full detail what you need and they will ship the right hitch.

by:

We didn't actually use this drop hitch. We were going to use it in the rise orientation, but it was a tad bit too tall as the tail gate hit the trailer hitch. It looks like a quality part, but I don't have any use info for you.

by:

I have been very pleased with this product so far and am extremely pleased with the Customer Service I have received from etrailer. I originally ordered a ball mount with a 8" drop. After receiving it and trying it out I found that I miscalculated and my boat trailer was not sitting level. I contacted etrailer and received an email with a UPS prepaid shipping label the next day. The whole thing could not have been easier on my end. That is how it should be done. Thanks to the etrailer team.

Mike

perfectly!

by:

This product has the lowest drop of any bar I could find while still supporting 7500lbs. I needed it because I just bought a big flatbed landscaping trailer, and when I tow it, I do so with a Y-connector and a bike rack. With the 7500lb drawbar that came with the new trailer, there wasn't enough room above the ball hitch to connect or disconnect the trailer to it without removing the bike rack first. This product solves that problem.

by:

Just what I needed for an unusual setup on a VW Vanagon. What I like about etrailer is the detailed information provided on the site. The measurements were very helpful in getting the right parts. Thanks

Great Hitch, Curt is a forerunner in trailer hitches.

by:

I bought this on my knowledgeable brother's advice - he gave me the exact order number and link to buy from etrailer! I had it installed locally, without complications. I use my truck mostly to haul my horse or my friend's two donkeys in my 14-foot stock trailer. I have no complaints, the hitch does what it's supposed to do.

Wise brother you have there! I am so glad this was the perfect fit for you. Let us know if you need any other items.

Worked perfect for my tool tug application. See attached photo.

by:

The products (ball mount; hitch pin; spring) i received from etrailer.com are Curt branded. For me that means a first class hitch, accessories and great service from etrailer.com. eTrailer.com had the best total cost for the items I wanted. There C/S was outstanding.

I am pleased with the products for my Curt hitch.....also please with etrailer.com thank you

by:

Drop was just right from my high pickup to my low utility trailer.

by:

Works as advertised. Great fit and now my boat is level traveling down the road. Fast turn-a-round. For [xx] shipping and the heavy weight, expected delivery in a week or two. Two days later it was at my doorstep, arriving late evening. Great service. Thank you.

by:

Perfect height for my boat trailer on 2021 Toyota Rav 4 Adventure with EcoHitch. Quick service and easy ordering.

by:

I purchased Curt's 6" drop ball mount for my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport which is not lifted but has 32" tall tires. The utility trailer I plan to purchase recommends a 12" tongue/ball height for level towing. The Curt 6" drop ball mount places my tongue/ball height at 13.5" which is acceptable. The bottom of my tow ball mounting nut is now 12" above the road surface. Plenty of clearance for safe towing. I'm very pleased with the quality and functionality of my Curt ball mount. I'm looking forward to purchasing a utility trailer soon. I think it will tow very nicely using my Curt 6" drop ball hitch.

My Curt 6 hitch ball mount has been working great! I did purchase a 5 x 8 Carry-On trailer and have used it a half-do zen times to haul a boat, my Cub Cadet 2 stage snow blower, and recycle. I am very pleased with the way my Curt hitch and trailer work together. This combination tracks smoothly behind my Wrangler even on twisty, hilly two-lane farm area roads. I am very pleased with both!

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for Trailer Needing 4 inches of Rise
You are really close to getting the correct rise drop but on the trailer side you measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler lip instead. So you'd most likely have about 21 inches on that side compared to the 18 inches on the vehicle and would need 3 inch of rise. One style isn't necessarily better than the other but the angled style does add some length to the ball mount setup which could be helpful for if you were having turn clearance issues.
