Question:

im looking to install a hitch on my Volkswagen Tiguan without having to modify the vehicle bumper. my question Is if I do this will the hitch be able to tow my 14 foot jon boat with a straight receiver or would I have to use an receiver with a higher ball

When we installed the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13381 on a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan in our shop the top inside of the receiver tube sat at 11-1/2" tall.

Using a Curt Multi-Ball Mount # C62KR that does not have a rise or drop would put your coupler height at 12" to the bottom of the coupler. Without knowing the height of your 14 foot john boat trailer when it sits level I cannot tell you if you will need a rise style ball mount like the Curt Ball Mount # C45070.

If you can tell me the height to the bottom of your trailer coupler and what size ball it requires I can recommend the correct ball mount to use.
