How to Find an Aluminum Stud When Mounting the Solera Awning Cradle Support

Question:
How do I find the aluminum stud on my fiberglass RV to hang the awning support cradle? In your online video the tech does not mention anything about finding and mounting to a stud. I contacted Forest River to get a drawing of where the studs ae located and was told they can not give out the drawings because they are proprietary. There is also no backer board for me to install the support cradle. Our awning is 20 ft. Any suggestions for how to mount the support cradle type of screws etc.?

Hey Steve. You'll need to use a stud finder with a metal-detection mode to find your aluminum studs. For mounting the Solera Awning Cradle Support item # LC289374 you'll want to go to your local hardware store and get some 3/4" stainless steel screws that work with aluminum studs.
