Video Transcript for Reese 5th Airborne Premium Fifth Wheel Air Ride Coupler Spec Review

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Reese 5th Airborne premium fifth wheel air ride coupler, has a 20,000 pound weight capacity. Now this 5th Airborne fifth wheel air ride extended pin box coupler will act as a buffer between your tow vehicle and the trailer. It minimizes the abuse sustained from turbulence on the road. This one here is designed for use with the following pin boxes. It'll work on Lippert 1621 and 1621HD, works on the Lippert 0719, the Turning Point series, the Rhino series, and also on the Fabex PB 600 series pin boxes.

Now using the air ride technology, this pin box would work to reduce chucking, help stamp out road shock, provides a nice, smooth towing experience. The air bag is located at the top of the pin box instead of on the bottom, makes it a lot easier to make your adjustments. Wanted to to zoom in here and just show you right up here is your air manifold, comes standard for an easy air fill and it uses a pressure relief valve to prevent overfilling. Right over here on this side, there's a little opening here. This is your air level indicator on the side.

So when you're filling it up, you'll be able to see it'll indicate low, medium, and maximum air pressure. Now, this does use an innovative forward pivot design and it does pass the SAE and CSA testing standards. It does, as you can see, include the mounting hardware. I have it all laid out here. Again, the specs on this, the gross trailer weight capacity is 20,000 pounds and the pin weight capacity is 5,000 pounds.

But that should do it for the review on this Reese 5th Airborne premium fifth wheel air ride coupler with the 20,000 pound weight capacity..

Great it is far better than original pin box the original didn't allow for clearance between the tailgate and nose of trailer had to be square with the trailer to couple i. I like my new pin box

by:

Replaced a Turning Point with this. As stock only had 4 bolt holes aligned to frame wings. Drill 4 more holes to accommodate all 8. Maybe 4 was sufficient, I don't know.

Access to air valve when mounted is almost impossible. Added 12" of braided hose to make it work.

Seems to cushion ride well, I can see it working in the rear view mirror. It does make a lot of squeaking noise, hopefully that is normal.

It looks like the Reese 5th Airborne Premium Fifth Wheel Air Ride Coupler is not a correct replacement for the Lippert turning point. I cannot in good faith recommend to continue the use of the pin box.

  • How to Install a Reese 5th Airborne Premium 5th Wheel Air Ride Coupler on a 1116 Pin Box
Yes, you can Bill and thanks for the picture. You'll be able to install the Reese 5th Airborne Premium item # RP78FR on a Lippert 1116 pin box by adding the Spacer Kit for Reese 20K 5th Airborne 5th Wheel King Pin item # RP97FR. This set up will give you a 20,000 lbs capacity and bolt right on to your 5th wheel trailer. If you have any additional questions go ahead and throw them into the comment box below.

  • Replacement Airborne Premium Fifth Wheel Air Ride Coupler for a Lippert 1621 Pin Box
I spoke to my contact at Lippert and they were not able to reference the part "190772131" that you provided. What you will want to look for is a white barcode which is located on the passenger side of the mounting bracket for the pin box. This number should start with either a "028" or a "019". Once you can let me know what this number is I would then be able to verify the correct replacement Reese pin box.

  • Sidewinder Pin Box for 2022 Wildwood Heritage Glen 5th Wheel
The ST200 turret for the # 5AS16K has been discontinued. You may be able to find it still but I wasn't able to when I ran a quick search. At this time, the only Sidewinder we offer that fits the 1621 is the # RP34FR. Also, you aren't hearing from Reese because they're owned by First Brands now. Ever since this change the wait times on the phone are extremely long and many of their parts are gone or on indefinite backorder. The # RP34FR will help with clearance but it won't do anything...

  • Is There a Reese Airborne/Sidewinder Pin Box To Replace a Lippert Rhino Pin Box?
While Reese does offer a Sidewinder # RP34FR or Airborne # RP78FR which will replace your Lippert Rhino pin box they do not have a combination Airborne/Sidewinder which will bolt to the mounting arms on your 2022 Vengeance/Rogue toy hauler. I find it is often best to upgrade the suspension on your 5th wheel which will greatly reduce the amount of chucking on the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550034. The height adjustments on the hitch make it easier to gain the clearance...

  • Can 5th Airborne Cushioned Pin Box Fit In Place of Reese Revolution Pin Box
The Reese Revolution pin box is an OEM version of the Sidewinder which is designed to fit in place of standard pin boxes. So most likely the cushioned 5th Airborne you would need is the part # RP78FR which fits in place of the most popular pin box design of the Lippert 1621, 0719, Fabex 600, and Lippert Rhino. The # 5AB-S500-700 fits the less popular Lippert 116, 0115, and Fabex 520, 530, 560.

The first option is the MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box for 14K to 18K Trailers w/ Lippert Rhino # MR83QR. • Is the Reese 5th Airborne Premium Fifth Wheel Air Ride Coupler the Same Length As the Rhino Pin Box
The Reese 5th Airborne Premium Fifth Wheel Air Ride Coupler part # RP78FR is categorized as a long style pin box. The dimensions are designed to mirror that of the pin box it replaces which one that uses a Lippert 1621 pattern. Therefore, you shouldn't have any issue with clearance using the new pin box. In other words, it's not any longer or at least significantly, than the one it is designed to replace. I have attached a photo below you can use to verify.

The Lippert options we have include the Rota-Flex # LC328330 and the Trailair Flex # LC328492. The Rota-Flex is basically a step up from the basic 1621/1621HD pin box # LC1191191 in that the head can pivot some to help with ride quality. The 5th Airborne pin box being referenced in this question is not a Sidewinder/rotating pin box. It's actually just a standard air cushioned pin box like the # RP78FR. The degree of turnability with this setup will depend on the following factors: 1. The distance from the center of fifth wheel hitch jaw to the truck cab. 2. The length of king pin to the nose of the fifth wheel. 3. The width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half). For example: If the distance from the center of the...
