Upgrade the factory pin box on your fifth-wheel trailer to this cushioned model that dampens road shock and reduces back-and-forth chucking for a more relaxed towing experience. Unlike air bags, the internal rubber spring requires no maintenance.
Features:
Specs:
Most standard pin boxes are constructed of steel and are built with the sole purpose of connecting your fifth-wheel trailer to your tow vehicle. There is no cushioning built in, so a factory pin box doesn't do anything to provide a comfortable ride when you're hauling your fifth-wheel trailer.
This MORryde pin box, however, is built with an internal rubber spring that absorbs road shock and vibration at the connection point. So if you're driving on unpaved roads or uneven pavement, this pin box will prevent any road shock and vibration you encounter from transferring from your tow vehicle to your fifth-wheel trailer and vice versa. In other words, the rubber spring takes the brunt of the impact so you and your towing setup don't have to. And because this unit uses a rubber spring instead of an internal air bag like some other upgraded pin boxes, there's no maintenance required.
Although this pin box can tow up to 19,000 lbs, the internal rubber shear spring is optimized for trailers that range from 11,501 to 14,000 lbs. A rubber spring built for 19,000-lb trailers would be too stiff to provide any cushion for an 11,500-lb trailer, while a rubber spring built for 11,500-lb trailers would be too flexible for a 19,000-lb trailer. To get the best results from this cushioned pin box, the sweet spot is a trailer in the 11,501-lb to 14,000-lb range.
Chucking, the back-and-forth jerking movement you feel in your cab when towing, occurs most frequently during starts and stops and while making turns. A typical, factory pin box creates a rigid connection without much give. So when a harsh stop occurs, all of the trailer's forward momentum gets forced through that stiff connection, slamming the king pin in the hitch and jerking your truck around.
To combat this, glide pads are built into the MORryde pin box that allow the skid plate to shift up to 3" forward and backward and 1-1/2" side to side to compensate for some of that violent motion so that you don't have to feel it in your cab.
This MORryde pin box is a direct replacement for your existing Lippert 1116 pin box, so the installation is very straightforward. After removing your old pin box, the MORryde can be mounted into place using the same hardware and bolt holes used by the factory pin box.
Because of the weight of the unit, you'll want a couple of friends to help you lift it into place during installation. Once the hardware is securely bolted down, you'll be ready to go.

Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this MORryde Cushioned Fifth Wheel Pin Box. This is going to replace the pin box that you currently have installed on your fifth wheel trailer. And the reason that you'd wanna switch out your original for this one is because of that cushioning effect. So this is going to help to reduce the jarring, chucking motion and feeling that you often have when you're hauling your fifth wheel trailer. So that's going make it a much more comfortable and enjoyable ride for you by upgrading to this.
This is going to work for your fifth wheel trailers that have a gross vehicle weight rating of between 11,501 pounds and 14,000 pounds. This will work specifically. It is designed to work with the Lippert 1116 pin box. So if you have the 1116 pin box, currently installed on your trailer this is gonna be a very simple switch out for you. If you don't have the 1116 I'll go over a few measurements here in a couple minutes to make sure that this will work for you as well.
Now, basically the way this is gonna operate you've got your pin box portion which attaches to your trailer. And then your King pin down here is going to slide it into your fifth wheel hitch. And those are basically two separate components that are held together loosely. And then you've got a rubber shear spring inside there. That's going to allow, tha, those two pieces to move around each other and that rubber spring is going to help dampen some of that road shock and movement that we, we get.
So this is going to provide about three inches Fore and Aft movement. So it'll allow us to move about three inches forward to back. And then we've got about an inch and a half of side to side movement. So that's going to really help reduce those back and forth chucking some shape sensations that we often experience. It's also going to make our starts and stops less jerky.
So by having that, those rubber components in there it's gonna help to make sure that the, the motion is not transferred up to our cab where we'll experience it. So it's going to be much more comfortable for us as I mentioned. Now, even with all those moving components we're still going to have a 19,000 pound weight capacity. Now keep in mind that is not going to increase your overall gross vehicle weight rate rating of your trailer. So if your trailer is rated for less than that, you will still only be able to use whatever your trailer is rated for. And if your trailer is rated for more than that you probably should upgrade to a bigger pin box to make sure that you're getting the most out of your trailer. Now, this is gonna have the same King pin location as the original manufacturers to help reduce the stress on the frame of your trailer. So rather than elongating it, getting everything offset this is going fit right in just like the original from our King pin here, back to our first set of holes. It's right at 15 inches, the front mounting hole here all the way to the back mounting hole is right about eight and three quarters of an inch, holes from the front to the middle are about four and three eighths and from the middle to the back again about four and three eighths. And then from our bottom to our top hole, it's about two and a half inches, and that's all measured center on center. So just a few measurements there to make sure that this is gonna work for you. And a kinda give you reassurance that this is the same measurements as the original. So you can trust it's gonna work well for you but this is a very easy installation. Very simple, I should say because basically all you have to do is, take out the bolts on your original King pin lower that down, put this one up in its place. You could use that same hardware as long as it's in good enough condition can pop that in the holes there to attach it and make sure that you get it all torn down and everything to the specifications in the instructions but it is very heavy. So you will probably wanna have a second set of hands helping you lift it up get those bolts in place. The instructions talk about using your truck in your hitch to make sure everything is aligned properly either way just as long as you get those in the same mounting holes as the original on your trailer, you should be good, we'll fit right in and do a good job for you. This does require a lot less maintenance than other options on the market that use Air-Filled Springs because you're not gonna have to worry about keeping that air pressure in the spring. So once you get this installed it's basically just gonna do its job. You can forget about the components and it'll just give you that more comfortable ride. This is a nice quality pin box. It exceeds the CSA standards, so you can trust, it's gonna hold up well and get the job done for you the way you want it to. And it is made here in the USA. So you can trust again, that it's made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US. So I think this is gonna be a really nice option if you're looking for a way to make your ride a little bit more comfortable get rid of some of that jarring and chucking sensation that you typically have with your fifth wheel trailer. This is gonna be a great upgrade for you. So that's going to complete our work for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com Thanks for watching..
